You failed to mention that the phone is now offset so the charging port and microphone port are now accessible. And it also uses the Mimo app and not the DJI Go app
@@michaelcross2199 Filmic Pro FTW lol I've always hated DJI Software tbh.. That's why I've also never really liked their drones due to constant bugs in the software and then an update that fixes the software bricks your drone XD

DJI Mimo 3 is a great gimbal. Own two of them, and use them with my two iPhones for videos all the time. I put it through lots of abuse - and as you say - it simply works. Also it is cheap. Now it is like 3 years old - but still - as I see it, it is missing nothing
The Moment people used their lenses without a problem. The filters probably would work as well. The wide angle lens might be too heavy but the anamorphic and tele and fisheye worked. Also another reviewer said to get into tilt or flashlight mode you now have to turn the handle 90 degrees first. A bit of a pain but it works.
The Osmo Mobile 3 reminds me a lot of the Snoppa Atom. I had gotten one but returned it after just a couple of weeks because of the limitation it had with the vertical tilt when in landscape mode (horizontal). As you mentioned, you may want to upgrade if you are a vlogger and you use the vertical mode a lot. I can also see how portability will make a difference in your life as a vlogger. But I don't think it's worth it if you are going to do videos and you need full mobility. I have the Osmo Mobile 2 and I love it. I do miss the trigger in front like the Osmo Mobile 1, but for me, the upgrade isn't worth it because I don't vlog and I need that full range of motion that the 1st and 2nd gen offer. Great getting your hands on this gimbal to do a review so quickly!
Ive just watched another video on the OM3 and it shows that you can use lenses and cases with a XS Max. How did you come to the conclusion that you can’t?
I think that as this was an early release version of the gimbal, DJI never added a place to attach counterweights but if you reed the manual online, you can see it now has them.
Nice review Jeven! I just brought the osmo mobile 3 myself. Although I disagree about the part where you said that it's clearly aimed for vertical video recording. I think it only defaults to vertical because of its design. Also in the video you actually didnt put your phone in the right way because when you put it on landscape mode the cameras went to the side where the motors are. I think the tip is to make sure that before you put your phone on the holder the DJI should not be upsdie down and from there you need to make sure your camera is on the left side away from the motors.
I like the hell out of it. It's my first and only cell phone gimbal, but I'm learning its features and building muscle memory for operating it smoothly. Incorporating footage with my drone footage makes for pretty interesting video. Very good equipment.
I second this. The Snoppa Atom can do Inception and POV mode, perfect for creating awesome footage. Plus it has wireless charging and 3.5mm jack for mic. But we never know if the DJI Osmo Mobile 3 can do those modes since they copy the design of the Snoppa Atom.
Solid, informative review. One thing I noticed a lot, you need to use the word "are" when talking about multiple things. You always seem to say "there is [plural]" when it should be ‘there are [plural]’.
I got my Osmo Mobile 3 a few months ago and I have to say I love it ! I haven't tapped into all the options that it can do yet, since I got it in the winter, but as the warm weather approaches, my creative ideas will start flooding back. I just don't do winter personally so hence why I'm not very active when it's cold. Great video again Jeven, really enjoyed all the useful info bro.
Moment says that they tested this and DJI tested it with a Moment case and lenses and it balanced perfectly. As a mattr of fact Moment just sent a promo for the 3 and stated in the add that the Moment case fits and with the lenses it balances
Jeven Dovey I’ll let you know. I am going to order it when it is available on Amazon and it has been out a month or so. If it does not work I shall of course return it. I have the smooth 4 which is great but would like the fold up for travel. Also have the DJI Pocket and love it. It is all about minimal gear for me. :)

Hi Young! Can we just update the firmware to version 3? I had OSMO 2 only update the firmware, never used it, I had Moza Mini Mi and Moza Mini S, and Snoppa Atom. I don't think DJI Osmo Mobile 3 is any different with Snoppa Atom since, using the Filmic Pro the only software to use with. My favourite is Moza Mini Mi, among those I've mentioned. Since I'm only using it as a stabilizer with Note 9 and the 360 degrees inception mode, and Moza Mini S does not turn all the way 360 degrees inception mode.

@@Young360 Yeah the Moza Mini Mi, is much better with the inception mode. I regret getting the Moza Mini S, DJI OSMO 2, never get to use it, also the DJI OSMO 2 need to use fast charging in order to charge it which DJI fail to mention when lots of people RMA their device then some people charging it using Samsung USB plug with fast charging. I still prefer the Snoppa ATOM as the portable, again, I'm only using it with Filmic Pro, and their app just for a firmware update, nothing else. I don't even use most of the features. Like tracking and all that. More like function over features. I will watch your video comparison when it's up :)
On the side of the phone holder there’s a small screw thread, you can buy counterweights to go in there so you can put lenses etc on your phone and balance it out
Very helpful review--first one of the Mobile 3 I've seen. One feature I would like to see is an integrated cold shoe mount on the handle for an external mic or light.
It's also great for new cameras with wide angle lenses :) :) because unlike the osmo 2 this motor comes from the side and does not obstruct the wide-angle lens :-)

I like the kink design off to the side. You can tilt up and down holding the handle off to the side for those "top of the palm tree shots, or the lower to the ground shots. This design also prevents the motor getting in the shot with the wide angle lens on.
I like how the new gimbal allows you to actually plug your phone in to something else. I have a Osmo2 and the port is hard up against the rubber V shape.
I’ve seen a few videos today that shows moment lenses being used with this gimbal. On Moment website it shows how you can use their lenses with no counter weight now with this gimbal.
Biggest problem I had with the DJI OSMO mobile 2, I could almost never balance out a iPhone XS Max, as too heavy I guess. Got this better with the OMSO mobile 3?

I like the new design mainly because the motor would get in my shot with the Osmo Mobile 2, and I swear my camera isn't even that wide. Going wider would not even be possible because of that.

I think a reason the motor part is now off to the side is so it doesn't get i the shot if you're using an ultra wide lens such one from moment or the one found on the Galaxy Note
Have you tried using it with Gopro 7 + adapter? I’d love to know if the counterweight issue is only showing up when the setup is very imbalanced or using anything more bulky than a smartphone also causes it. Love your content! Keep up the great work.

Today I received an email from Moment where they announced the preorder of the Osmo Mobile 3 but I'm curious because they claim that this gimbal doesn't need a counterweight for their lenses and that has been tested. Did you have trouble with the weight of the lenses? Maybe that's not so true and there will be the need for a counterweight. Greetings from Mexico
Got the email as well. Saw other videos (Potato Jet and Matti Haapoja) and apparently the anamorphic works ok without counterweights. I would buy the Osmo Mobile 3 just because of its portability.
Please be aware that DJI Mimo APP for Osmo Mobile 3 supports 4K30, 4K60 only, no 4K 24 for cinematic footage. A lot of new features cannot be used without the app, and you are stuck with 30p and 60p

Does the gimbal have to be in Title/Lock Mode before you can engage the trigger to lock it? My gimbal is still spinning free when I press and hold the trigger? Great video by the way.
android users get no zoom, 30 fps 4k vs 60fps for iphone, no continuous follow, no quick change from video to phone, and off course no filmic pro for anyone
Function over features when using only with Filmic Pro: DJI OSMO 2 = better tracking and stability than the other gimbal with their own app (very basic gimbal). To recharge need to use Samsung USB Fast Charging only. No Wireless charging support. Better stability with Filmic Pro. Moza Mini Mi = 360 degrees inception mode. Can tilt up and down. Wireless charging support. Moza Mini S = inception mode does not turn all the way 360 degrees, can tilt up and down, the back motor will block wide camera mode / bigger phone (example Galaxy S8+, Note 8, S9+, Note 9, S10+, Note 10, etc...). No Wireless charging support. Snoppa ATOM = the back motor not blocking the wide camera mode / bigger phone (example Galaxy S8+, Note 8, S9+, Note 9, S10+, Note 10, etc...). Can't tilt up and down. Wireless charging support. DJI OSMO 3 = new release, no one mention about the back motor blocking the rear camera yet for wide camera mode / bigger phone (example Galaxy S8+, Note 8, S9+, Note 9, S10+, Note 10, etc...). DJI copy the design from Snoppa ATOM so probably not. Can't tilt up and down. No Wireless charging support.
Thank you for your video. Our Osmo Mobile 3 doesn't even work anymore... It just keeps on shaking and giving a pop-up saying that there is a fault in the gimbal but we are unable to solve it... Maybe someone has tips for us? We've searched and tried so many things already but nothing seems to help so far...
Yes, I like the ‘kinked’ design. When I first got it I didn’t like it, because of the way I was used to working with the freevision Vilta m. But, I discovered that it has to be tilted in a different way. Then it became a lot of fun. Do I prefer it over the Vilta M? Yes. Oh, and I am using a Røde directional mic on this, which works well because of the kink. I also use a wide angle lens adapter which is balanced by the mic. It looks terrifying!
I just bought it and was trying to figure it out. This video helped a lot. I will try to shoot something this weekend, on the slopes. At first glence, it seems like a qualitity bargain.

You are wrong about the Moment lenses. It is possible to use the Moment lens and case. You just have to balance it by sliding it sideways.

How far is the tilt? It looks very similar to the Atom gimbal and the big downside of that one was that it could only tilt 40-45 degrees at best.

I got one of my questions answered. Now the other one, what about for the microphone? Do you plug it in the Osmo 3 or the phone itself? If in the phone, that’s an add on. Would that screw up the motors? Cheers
yes the bit is of side so you can plug in mics and portable chargers
Can we mount gp7 on this , without motor seen like osmo mobile 2
I think a reason the motor part is now off to the side is so it doesn't get i the shot if you're using an ultra wide lens such one from moment or the one found on the Galaxy Note
Have you tried using it with Gopro 7 + adapter? I’d love to know if the counterweight issue is only showing up when the setup is very imbalanced or using anything more bulky than a smartphone also causes it.

Today I received an email from Moment where they announced the preorder of the Osmo Mobile 3 but I'm curious because they claim that this gimbal doesn't need a counterweight for their lenses and that has been tested. Did you have trouble with the weight of the lenses? Maybe that's not so true and there will be the need for a counterweight. Greetings from Mexico

Got the email as well. Saw other videos (Potato Jet and Matti Haapoja) and apparently the anamorphic works ok without counterweights. I would buy the Osmo Mobile 3 just because of its portability.

Please be aware that DJI Mimo APP for Osmo Mobile 3 supports 4K30, 4K60 only, no 4K 24 for cinematic footage. A lot of new features cannot be used without the app, and you are stuck with 30p and 60p

Does the gimbal have to be in Title/Lock Mode before you can engage the trigger to lock it? My gimbal is still spinning free when I press and hold the trigger? Great video by the way.

I use it with my note 8, noticed no zooming on 1080 but works fine with 4k30
android users get no zoom, 30 fps 4k vs 60fps for iphone, no continuous follow, no quick change from video to phone, and off course no filmic pro for anyone
Function over features when using only with Filmic Pro:
DJI OSMO 2 = better tracking and stability than the other gimbal with their own app (very basic gimbal). To recharge need to use Samsung USB Fast Charging only. No Wireless charging support. Better stability with Filmic Pro.
Moza Mini Mi = 360 degrees inception mode. Can tilt up and down. Wireless charging support.
Moza Mini S = inception mode does not turn all the way 360 degrees, can tilt up and down, the back motor will block wide camera mode / bigger phone (example Galaxy S8+, Note 8, S9+, Note 9, S10+, Note 10, etc...). No Wireless charging support.
Snoppa ATOM = the back motor not blocking the wide camera mode / bigger phone (example Galaxy S8+, Note 8, S9+, Note 9, S10+, Note 10, etc...). Can't tilt up and down. Wireless charging support.
DJI OSMO 3 = new release, no one mention about the back motor blocking the rear camera yet for wide camera mode / bigger phone (example Galaxy S8+, Note 8, S9+, Note 9, S10+, Note 10, etc...). DJI copy the design from Snoppa ATOM so probably not. Can't tilt up and down. No Wireless charging support.
Seems like everyone else says they are ok with lenses attached and even cases though?
Thank you for your video. Our Osmo Mobile 3 doesn't even work anymore... It just keeps on shaking and giving a pop-up saying that there is a fault in the gimbal but we are unable to solve it... Maybe someone has tips for us? We've searched and tried so many things already but nothing seems to help so far...

Moment is selling the osmo mobile 3 and they say you don’t need a counter weight to use there lenses with it. Did you test lenses on it?

Potatojet shows it working with a moment lens on the phone.

Yes, I like the ‘kinked’ design.
When I first got it I didn’t like it, because of the way I was used to working with the freevision Vilta m. But, I discovered that it has to be tilted in a different way. Then it became a lot of fun.
Do I prefer it over the Vilta M? Yes.
Oh, and I am using a Røde directional mic on this, which works well because of the kink. I also use a wide angle lens adapter which is balanced by the mic. It looks terrifying!

I just bought it and was trying to figure it out. This video helped a lot. I will try to shoot something this weekend, on the slopes. At first glence, it seems like a qualitity bargain.
