UPDATE : Now you can control the focus and many functions of the camera directly through the gimbal without the use of focus motor by just connecting the camera to the gimbal. This is possible after the June 2020 Weebill S update. You may download it if you haven't.
@@thevictormanuel007 no. you will have to use a CFast card. But there is a compatibility issue with the recent BMPCC 4k firmware that prevents the camera from talking to the gimbal so until they get that fixed youre better off sticking with the SSD (in my opinion)
That's all I needed to know man, best, clean and simplest review I've seen so far. You've just sold it to me. I was struggling by looking to the tons of expensive gimbals out there to support the BMPCC and this review appeared. Cheers ;)
4:30 At a specific angle it does make sense to shift the pan motor to another motor than it was before since physically the axis purposes change. Just try out the "underslung" mode and put your tripod on to the other mount. You'll see it will pan since the original roll motor is now the pan motor\axis.
Hi Austin, great video! three quick questions: 1. What battery setup were you using since the battery life is so poor with bmpcc? 2. Do you think this setup will still work with the bmpcc 6k? 3. Do you think it can handle the sigma art lens 18-35mm? Thanks!
Dude super helpful review! I still haven’t fully invested in buying a new gimbal and I’ve been wanting something small and compact but still can actually handle the weight of the Pocket 4K. I see so many rigs that are overkill when it comes to using a gimbal.
Fantastic video!! I basically copied everything you did on this video, buying all the things you mention. For me, however, it was a bit of a nightmare to balance the thing. I had to give up using the 24-70 Canon lens, since it was too heavy. I settled for a smaller lens, but it still took me days (and a few counterweights) to balance it. Still, it feels a bit heavy for this gimbal.
Hey, I've been running this combo and been testing it for Real Estate-- it seems like for push ins and stuff the image is very shaky. I've been trying a bunch of different settings to see if I can get it fixed but not sure if I'm gonna be able to run it. I'm definitely nowhere near the 6lb limit- just wondering if there were settings you found that helped out with this "heavy" setup. I'm running a bmpcc 6k with a 11-16 tokina.
I just bought this And balanced a 18-35 sigma. With 500g counterweights. I dont recommend it bc it’s really heavy on the gimbal. I think it exceeds its payload
What are you using the Weebill-S for right now? I don't really do as many weddings, so it's really up to your shooting style, but I can say the BMPCC4K has fantastic color science. Also, the ability to shoot raw with small file sizes is great. Being able to change white balance and exposure in post is helpful if I under or overexposed a shot. Your English is great! Thanks for watching the video!
@@AustinNewman Thank you so much for your answer! I use the webill S with a Nikon D7200 with the follow focus max, so i wonder if that black magic is good in low ligth situation with high iso.
@@facu_eze_peralta It's wonderful for weddings since it's very easy to mess up exposure, white balance in the hurry - all which can be corrected beautifully in post on the BRAW footage.
hows the focus motor when using it with the bmpcc4k? I've heard reports its slow and unreliable? oh, and what is your flat USB-C cable to SSD manufacturer?
Thanks for the video! How are you able to use the SSD and the Weebill S at the same time with the BMPCC, as there's only one USB-C port on the camera? Thanks!
The usb-c doesn’t need to be plugged into the gimbal. I only use the usb-c for the SSD. For power, I’ve been using the battery from the camera, although I’ve seen some outfit the gimbal with a small battery solution using Sony batteries.
@@AustinNewman Thanks bro! I guess the only disadvantage is that you can't access things like shutter speed etc from the gimbal if it's not connected to the camera? thanks for the help!
Quick question guys: how do you hook up the transmission module to the blackmagic? do you only need the hdmi port? because im using my usb c port for my SSD memory.
my congratulations on the video zhiyun did not make any video about blackmagic in his gimbal, i use this gimbal and the camera was in the mood to see some video of this set so good my congratulations on the fantastic video
It says half cage - will it handle a full cage and a monitor (Atomos Shinobi)? These are dirt cheap on Ebay so I'm considering it, even if the Moza Air 2 is what I'm eyeing.
Not sure about the full cage. The half cage I have works, because balancing the BMPCC4K on the Weebill-S requires you to place the BMPCC4K against the motor on it's right and it's pretty snug. With a full cage, it may be little trickier. Not entirely sure though.

does this focus function works with blackmagic 4k?
how can I control it & still use an ssd for external recording? Is it possible?

Thankful to see a review that is both simple and insightful!
Right on. I've been searching for something that's small and effective.
Went through 3 gimbal purchases and returns so far from ronin gimbals that didn’t turn on to ones that didn’t fit . I really hope this work. 🙏🙏🙏

I'm interested in the answer to this as well.
Hi, the camera fit without the cage? thank you
question , will this work with the battery grip on the black magic 4k ?

FIRST!!!! I'm looking at the crane 3s - it's really has my interest
Just saw that! Looks sick!
Great video, I have the Smallrig full cage, will this also be possible or too much?
My Bmpcc4k is not balancing on the weebill s, but if i Start the Motor it balancing automaticly, i dont know if its healty for my weebil?
Awesome video mate!!
did you test it with a full cage?
Great that Zhiyun release a lot of new features an fixes in the las 3 updates... now even more awesome and the prices have gone down too.
Is the focus wheel compatible with the Tilta Focus Nano motor?
Does it charge the camera and if so how long?
How can you use an ssd and.still Control the camera thru the gymbil
I have the set up. I have it balanced for my Panasonic 25 f1.7 and Sigma 17-50. It works best with primes. Are you using the Zhiyun follow focus?

what lens is this

Friend, how have you managed to connect the transmitter with the phone, it doesn't work for me. Thanks
Hey if we’re aren’t using the cage are the weights necessary? I have the weebill already and thinking about getting the Black Magic 4k pocket cam
Since the BMPCC4K is such a wide body camera, I’d recommend having them to help offset
I have a webill S and i want to buy a black magic 4k, this video was perfect for me

Thanks, Rachel!
Does the Weebill S charge the BMPCC 4K when they’re connected via USB?
What kind of motor do you have here?
Can i put the camera without the rig?
Still, your handheld shots compared to the gimbal ones are great. Bring more emotional.
Yes, it all comes down to what emotion you’re trying to convey.
No mention of balance issues with the weird shape of the cam?
I noticed he put counter weights on that probably helped with the strsnge size of this camera
Didn't you experieced wobbling? Especially in the horizon?
For me, the horizon was actually the most sturdy of the motors - after adding the counterweights of course with my specific setup.
