    UPDATE*** With this battery you are best to go from DC out to Dummy Battery inside the camera. The voltage is correct for the Dummy Battery as some have noticed that the camera shuts down due to the battery outputting 7.4v instead of the inteded 12v to the DC in. However, I havent had any issues with mine, but best to be safe and use the Dummy system with this battery. J

      Hi, James. I need help. :) I'm from a small town, and there is no information on how to make a B roll video. I have a Sony A 6400 and Sigma 35 mm. I really liked how you do B roll and I want to try to do it in our city. I need to know what parameters to choose 4K 30 fps or FHD 60 \ 120 fps? with auto focus or manual focus? I know Adobe Prime Pro well, but the videos are not as smooth. I also have a Soviet lens-Helios 44 F2 (50mm non autofocus), which gives a very smooth image, but even with it, when slowing down or accelerating, the video turns ugly. Sorry for the clumsy English. Спасибо - it means thanks

      James. Thanks for the video. I am overcoming this with an NP Plate that mounts using a 1/4" thread to any cheese plate. The Plate has a BMPCC Power cable as it's main output but also offers a 7.4v output via a DC connector to power my monitor.. So I can share 1 battery between camera and monitor - the monitor only needs 7v (Andycine - like yours). See the item here: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NP-F970-Battery-to-Blackmagic-BMCC-4K-BMPCC-Power-Supply-Plate-Adapter-for-Sony/124027620356?hash=item1ce09f4c04:g:RdMAAOSwGj9eCdAz

      D3F4JL7 if you’re trying to get slow smooth footage on the a6400 you’ll need to film in 60 or 120 FPS. Set your sequence in premiere pro 23.976. If you shot your footage in 60 FPS you slow it to 40% and if you shot 120 FPS you slow it to 20%. Doing this with convert the high frame rate to a 24 FPS sequence. This will give you smooth slow motion broll. If you’re not going to slow it down just shoot 24 FPS, 4K or 1080, up to you. as for manual or autofocus I prefer manual, but manual is kinda tough on that sigma lens. Good luck!

      Love it man. Last week I filmed a piece about my own a7iii rig. The BMPCC 6k looks insane. Plan to invest in that in the next 14 months and this will certainly stay on my list. I just love that power junkie! For my run and gun situations when adding a monitor makes me too noticable I just use the power junkie to power my rig and ditch the monitor. I've never thought to attach it to my ronin s though! Sick 🙌

    @quirkypurple 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    The mounting point for the 6K Pro has changed to where you have your velcro receptor. Where the mounting point for the 6K standard used to be (where you attach the nato rail) is now the viewfinder connector. Just keep this in mind for those of you buying a Pro and wanting to do this setup. The very foundation of this rig (the nato rail) is now compromised.

    Love it. I shoot the same way, lots of public spaces and fully agree. The design of the camera as a DSLR look alike is an important feature.
    My 6K is in the bag where the Canon R6 used to be. I have the Tilta screen mod on mine so it has on board SSD and the existing screen is fine for all but bright sun. So for me the rig out involves adding a 2000 nits screen with battery onto a cold shoe mount on the cameras top and a Manfrotto mount plate on the bottom. That’s it. I can go from hand held, to tripod, to mono pod to Crane 3 in seconds. I hate dicking around when out shooting. And so far no one bats an eyelid at me being there and lots of people want to play in front of the lens. Win win.
    Well done on making this really cool, super efficient rig.

    Something people should consider is the top 1/4" is specifically stated in the manual as being non load bearing, and NOT to connect a handle directly to it. With that said I think one could maybe Nato rail the bottom of the handle and link it to a base plate.

But if you want it sooner, you gotta pay an additional $20. And it’s not a Prime purchase anymore. It used to be, because I bought one a year ago.

    I watched this video about 30 times. I loved it. I even bought every single piece to mimic his setup and it just doesn't work. The main NATO rail on top only has one point of connection. When moving the camera around that one point becomes loose very easily. A singluar connection will not work for a camera of this caliber. I would swing the camera around and the NATO rail would get loose and the entire top section (monitor, battery, rail) would become loose and swing around freely. You really need two points of connection in order to make this a maneuverable camera. I liked the idea of this, but it just didn't work in real-world applications. I went with a full cage (half cage would work too) because it gave me two points of connection. One underneath the camera and one on top. I wanted this to work really bad, but it just didn't.

      I totally saw that coming and bought a SMALLRIG top plate specifically designed for the 4K and 6K to provide another point of non-swivel contact and they still tell you not to mount a top or side handle to the top plate. I ended up buying an under camera version of the same handle and with the top plate everything works out well with the battery grip purchase I was researching cage-less accessory mounting in the first place.

      I do not know why he insist on using only the 1/4 thread above when the same manufacturer says that it is not to "support" the camera, I think there is no difference if he uses the smallrig half cage that has nato rail on the side with a handle and it is a thousand times safer than this idea, in the end you are fooled into thinking that s rig is "discreet"

    • @mvm5439
      @mvm5439 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just purchased the SMALLRIG top plate specifically designed for the BMPCC 4K and 6K thinking I could elevate the stress that this idea has to be putting on the single 1/4 thread mount point. Thinking I was in the clear to proceed with this concept I was disappointed to find the SMALLRIG plate instruction to NOT attach a top handle or side handle to the plate connected to the camera. This convinced me that this setup is not viable and may do more harm than good.

    The manual specifically cautions against suspending the weight of the camera/lens/etc via the top screw. Good luck with this, but no thanks.

      @johngwheeler 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it’s not really suspending the full weight of the camera is it; he’s still gripping the camera body in the normal place, so at worst there’s half the weight of the camera on the top screw / rail

    Nice minimalist rig, but... on page 34 of the manual, it is clearly stated as follows: "Do not support the weight of the camera via the top 1/4” mount by using accessories like a screw in camera handle in conjunction with a heavy lens. This will damage the 1/4” mount which will not be covered under warranty". I personally went ahead and now have a small cheese plate with monitor + ssd on top of it, at the same time I still wonder if it's safe to ignore Blackmagic Design's recommendation putting a handle on that 1/4" mount. Of course, I understand that everyone is "gonna do his/her thing", however maybe it's safer to remind the audience what the manufacturer's warnings are, even if everything looks apparently fine for the moment? You know, that sort of "do it at your own risk" thing... Just my 2c.

    Great video, thanks for the power tips especially. I just bought the battery you suggested. I had been running my power through either my monitor as it has a DC out as well as a DC in, or mostly just carrying lots of LP-E6 batteries. But I heard that my specific monitor can't handle the power draw from the camera and it would burn the monitor insides up. So this is a PERFECT solution, thanks for that! I'm also in love with my pocket cam from BM.
    A few other tips you may like in your rig, go with a komputerbay CFast card, they're pretty reasonable and it get's rid of the mess of an external HD completely. But you'll still have your external for longer shoots. I find that my 256GB CFast let's me shoot pretty much all day as long as it's not an event where I'm actually recording all day long.
    Not sure about your gimbal, but on gimbals like the Ronin S, you can pick up a power cable that will let you power your camera through the massive gimbal battery. So that may simplify things for you even more.
