Ever since I saw this video I’ve been checking their prices and they have lowered their prices for single cruisers! Thanks to honest reviews like yours, maybe they’re listening!💙

Thanks for the comment! I call it down the middle, and it really depends on itinerary. I am still finding MANY bookings that are triple cost, but if enough people let it be known price gouging will not be tolerated, the cruise community will come out ahead……be well……

as a single person I can understand having to pay more. To actually be penalized simply means we don't want your business. On the positive side if you take the same money you would have paid for a double and try a destination vacation where your money and business is more appreciated it might be as good or maybe even better than a cattle car barge experience

Collectively the cruise community can change unethical practises! Thanks for the comment!

This is criminal. Celebrity should be ashamed of their practices. Thank you for pointing this out. Royal Caribbean will charge you only 150 % of a cabin if you have more than 345 cruise days with them.

As a single the penalties for being solo have always put me off

Agree, but I have always been able or willing to pay the solo supplement (double occupancy) but triple is unethical.........thanks for the comment!

Liked the video! I can see why they basically DON'T want solo cruisers. Their whole marketing models are based upon "full boats". If they had 1/3 of their state rooms filled with just 1 person (instead of 2+), the boats would feel rather empty. It would be weird - and I think they worry about their image. They don't want people thinking "why is this boat so empty?". And, I'm sure they have done the market research, and they know that 2+ in a cabin generates more revenue than 1 in a cabin. It's all about revenue-generating activities.

    • @TheBussman
      @TheBussman  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I agree, however Celebrity is the only cruise line charging triple to make up for "lost spending revenue". Other lines realize the revenue potential to fill cabins that would not otherwise be sold, aka....solo cruisers.......be well.......

@@TheBussman Good point! I didn't realize Celebrity was the only line with such a difference!
Side note - I also agree with your comment about not doing the "all inclusive" options. We recently cruised MSC Seashore and I was really worried about not getting the drinks package. Turns out we saved probably at least $300 by not purchasing it (because there were 3 of us in the cabin). I bought drinks when I wanted, and it was still less than buying the package. Some times it's worth it - some times not.

When it comes to pricing on RCCL and Celebrity, NOTHING surprises me. The cruise that I booked on the Celebrity Solstice in September on March 29th for $587 is now priced at $1225.

I was a solo cruiser on two Carnival ships in 2024, I think they simply charged me double, as if I was a couple.

Book as a couple and get insurance for the ghost that doesn't show up.

This is not nearly the case regularly. Perhaps they do this on cruises more than 6 months out or "high demand" cruises. I've certainly paid "only double" many times as I love Celebrity. I've also gotten a deal here and there at less than double, but not very common especially after covid. It's quite simple. They want to book as many double occupancy rooms as possibe. Two people spend more than one person...probably by a long shot. I think this pretty much goes away on less popular times(not holidays, spring break, etc...). I mean if anything you can book a "ghost" guest as your second passenger and save the 1300 bucks plus get port fees and taxes back I think.

Because of the Celebrity Cruise Line price gouging solo cruisers I don't think I will sail with them again. Normally don't get a drink package, but, depends on what is included.

Celebrity does have some "Edge Solo Infinite Balconies" that don't charge you for 2 people. I'm trying one on the Beyond in 10 days. Most cruiselines charge double for solo cruisers. It's just the way it is.

Its not criminal as some others will say, thats a childish statement. It's a company working with capitalism. That being said, this is why there are options. This is why I refuse to cruise in general, I prefer to go solo as I don't like people enough to have someone in my room. The solo cruiser getting screwed has always beeen a thing.

The single fares on NCL are not significantly cheaper than the single supplements on other lines from the times that I have looked at them.

Want some cheese with that whine? Obviously they are trying to discourage solo travelers. These cruise lines know almost to the dollar how much people will spend onboard. One person is not going to spend enough money to make it worth their while.

So just put in a bogus second person and just have that person not show up. Stop crying
