NOTHING, has made me cry harder than the ending of this movie. So simple, yet so beautiful.
I am pretty sure I spotted at least one specific scene toward the end that you were probably thinking of with your comment. That part ALMOST got me. Not quite, but almost. But I've learned that crying responses can be sooo situational.
I still can't believe what the movie "Nimona" did to me though... last Sunday was the ELEVENTH time that movie "got me" (!). No other movie had ever gotten me to shed tears even more than once each, let alone 11 times lol. And many of those were very hard cries.
Same, favorite movie of mine. There's a chinese movie called "Hi, mom" and that made me weep so hard, not a musical but a story of a daughter and her love for her mother. Check it out if you ever get the chance, its just as amazing :]

Ryan Gosling is one of the most versatile actors working today: he plays ALL sorts of characters in all sorts of genres, and he pretty much nails all of them. Definitely check out more of his filmography!
La La Land is one of my comfort movies. i could talk about certain moments for hours
first time i watched this movie i went in skeptical because musicals aren't my thing, but that night i ended up crying myself to sleep listening to the soundtrack on repeat 😭 now it's one of my favorite movies ever
Ok that comment made this movie go on MY personal "to-watch" list, hehe. I've been a tearjerker-seeker ever since "Inside Out" when I firsthand felt the feel-good brain endorphins that can come along with tears. For several years after that it had been notoriously hard for me to find movies that had that effect on me (and it's been virtually impossible for me to cry to a RE-watch of ANYthing) BUT... just recently I discovered my first "repeater tearjerker"... which happened to be Nimona.
@@sathvamp1 i also don't cry easily at movies, one of the only ones that can REALLY make me cry is Interstellar! You should definitely watch La La Land, it gets emotional in the last act but I think everybody should see it at least once
@@Cloclo1125 Interstellar- oh GOSH yes! That was the first one AFTER "Inside Out" that made me shed tears (and that was a few YEARS afterwards lol). I knew NOTHING about "Interstellar" before watching it (I had NO clue how impactful it was going to be... I was actually only watching it as a required part of a science class)... so I was [stupidly] trying to save time by eating lunch while watching... but ANY little thing can distract me from maximally feeling strong emotions. So... during arguably THE most critical scene (can you guess which?), I was trying to eat a salad while subconsciously wondering "Why is liquid dripping off my nose???" LOL. For the REST of the movie, I made sure to put my food DOWN if I sensed anything important was coming up... and was rewarded by the ending scene!
My subsequent seeking of reactions to "Interstellar" was actually how I found THIS reactor... and he was also the first one I found NOT to "crack" in response to it, lol... or (to my knowledge) ANY movie for that matter (FYI, I didn't see THIS reaction yet so no spoilers... I want to watch it on my own anyway to see if it does anything to me). I think the one where he got closest to "breaking" that I know of was "Prisoners."
So... I (and other fans) keep checking back and suggesting "potential tearjerkers" to him including the Korean version of "Miracle in Cell No. 7" (one fan responded to THAT request of mine and said "Wow, do you hate this guy?" lol.
@@sathvamp1 i also knew nothing going into Interstellar, and i was surprised at how emotional it was!! the scene that made me cry the most is when cooper sees his daughter's tape after losing 20+ years on that one planet. and the music in the movie was just fantastic honestly. i love watching reactions to it!

@@Cloclo1125 Yup, totally surprised me too- by the 2nd time during the movie when it "got me", I was like "Ok, WHAT IS this movie?? Does it do this to anyone ELSE?" And hence, Interstellar was why I even discovered that TH-cam reactors even existed (and yup, I soon saw it wasn't "just me" who reacted like that to Interstellar lol)... and now I regularly follow 12 total reactors for various reasons (3 of them I discovered because of their Interstellar reactions in particular... my favorite Interstellar reaction was by "Just Trust Ash" :) And... yup- that infamous "23-years-of-messages" scene was the first and strongest one that got me (and the one when I was trying to eat a salad lol).
And, regarding Miracle In Cell No. 7 ... YUP it definitely IS "that bad", lol. I saw the Korean version (there is a Turkish version which I haven't YET seen). I actually had an... interesting reaction to it, because with ME, emotions such as anger apparently can 100% inhibit tears, BUT there was more than plenty of sadness in it TOO, so it was as if the emotions of "Anger" and "Sadness" were undergoing the most epic battle with one another in my head, lol.
It's the way he started with saying is ridiculous" and finished by saying "this is gorgeous", the magic of La la land
Some really fun movies with Ryan are Crazy Stupid Love (which also has Emma Stone in it again) or The Nice Guys which REALLY shows off Ryan's comedic acting chops. They're both super fun and enjoyable movies !
Some great Ryan gosling movies to check out: Drive, The nice guys, Blade runner 2049(but watch the first blade runner first), The place beyond the pines, The big short, Crazy stupid love, The Notebook, Fracture....When you think about dude has so many great movies including this one.
Fun fact whiplash was made so Damien could make this movie lol. It was rejected so he made whiplash to show its potential
Love that it became clear to you who the director was once all the bands and instruments started making bigger appearances - from what I understand, this was a passion project that Damien Chazelle wanted to make first but couldn't get funding, so he was like "fine I'll just make a different banger first" and came out with Whiplash, both absolutely spectacular movies.
EDIT: My interpretation of the ending is similar, in a way it's in Seb's head, but I see it more as him expressing his thoughts to Mia through jazz, because it mirrors his description of jazz in the beginning, about it being born from people in a room who are unable to communicate with each other. From that perspective, what we see is the visual representation of Seb's performance and all the things he wants to tell Mia, what I like about this interpretation is that it suggests they both depart on the same page and with full closure (reinforced by their knowing smiles at the very end), rather than Seb being unable to get his thoughts across.

Lol. Those of us who grew up driving in LA have akways joked we could whip out a pucynic blanket and eat lunch in traffic here. So we were like, stopped long enough for a dance number? Believable! You should've heard the L.A audience laughing in acknowledgement! 🤣
The primary colors in the beginning are deliberate. They get more muted as the film goes on. In fact, at the concert, I was like, "She's in black and white. Her colors are gone. Uh, oh"! 😁
Oh fuck yes. This movie was an insanely enjoyable “movie” experience for me as well, im glad you get it.
Ryan Gosling is a genuinely great talent. Just to put it out there, the "Literally Me" moniker he's been saddled with started with his performance and character in Blade Runner 2049, one of those rare sequels to a decades-old and beloved property that is on-par with the original. Both of those movies would be well worth checking out at some point, on or off the channel.
It warms my heart knowing that for 15 glorious seconds the Academy Award for Best Picture belonged to LA-LA LAND. …then

Funnily enough - Damien Chazelle, the director, said in a BTS bit that one of the reasons for having the big, bombastic, one-shot musical number as an opening was so that people would know _right away_ what kind of movie they were in for. Seems it worked out perfectly 😏
One of my favorite things about the ending of this one is they stayed true to what they said. They both followed their dreams and she still does love him, just in a different way.
Neither of them would have gotten what they wanted without the other. Theres so much in that glance. They're both genuinely happy for each other. Sure, they'll always be the one who got away. They both know that in another life they could have been happy together. But theres no resentment or animosity. Only support. It will be from afar though because anything else would be too painful.
I'm a sigma teen boy who don't give a sh.t abt romantic/comedy/musical movies but this movie is something else. What a fantastic movie with great direction, excellent Music and Perfect cast. I only sat down to watch this because of Emma Stone (she's my hard crush 🥰) but Halfway thru movie i forgot emma and I was hypnotized by the environment of the movie. This movie has a very unique feeling like minimal vibes.
Definitely 10/10 movie 🔥

This was made in the style of old black and white Hollywood musicals right down to the oddly artistic transitions (zooming in the trombone for one) and dancing in the literal clouds or in silhouettes. You watch those and every second musical scene is wtf you build this whole elaborate surreal set for this single dance number???
Phoebe Waller bridge did fleabag as a one woman play and that’s how it got turned into a series
I watched La La Land in theatres back when it came out. Watching this reminded me of just how good it was. Ryan and Emma really went all out for their roles.
If you want to do a Damien Chazelle and Barbie full circle reaction you should watch Babylon (directed by Damien and starring Margot Robbie). It flopped in the theaters and it's not for everyone but I thought it was brilliant and Margot killed it in that one.
Damien Chazelle and Ryan Gosling reunited for First Man as well. Nothing to do with jazz ;) . Would be worth a watch as well.

Ryan Gosling is so versatile from the wrestling film Half Nelson to comedy in Lars and the Real Girl to action in Only God Forgives plus romance in The Notebook. He may be up for a Best Supporting Oscar for Barbie and Emma Stone for Best Actress for Poor Things a Frankenstein story which she has some major backing to possibly win a second Oscar. You can see hints of musicals West Side Story and the color palette of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. For a unique film experience please watch the French film Amelie.
This film asks the question, haven't you ever relived a relationship in the way it should have been? But the club WAS his, Seb's, so they both got what they wanted. btw you're so perceptive in many ways...

I watched recently not knowing exactly what to expect, and found a "hidden" gem among the modern crap Hollywood has been manufacturing. Mia the struggling actress got Emma her first Oscar, and she recently got her second, and got to watch Ryan perform a musical number, i was like this is right out of La La Land lol, cool reaction 👍

Yo, you should watch more musicals. Hairspray and Little Shop of Horrors is one of my favorites. And West Side Story too, but I think this one is little too conceptual to me. Maybe I'll grow in later re-watchings

(P.S. I have access to this one so will soon watch it on my own and then see your reaction!). BUT until then.... I have a SERIOUS recommendation for you... NIMONA. That movie REALLY REALLY surprised me... more than any other movie I've watched in especially a couple aspects, actually!!
Great reaction! It's hard to pull off a contemporary movie musical with original music (albeit with lots of references to past musicals and choreography... but I don't think that's a bad thing!).

If you want to try out another Ryan Gosling movie, I would recommend Drive by Nicholas Winding Refn. Pretty cool movie.

This map ir made me angry with that ending, not angry at the movie, writers or story but angry at the situation which the movie portrays.The movie was fantastic and I pretty much hate musicals lol
I really expected to hate this movie but it was a good tribute to one of those romance musicals that asks what happens after the main couple fall in love.
