The Incarnate knocks down the enemy as long as the enemy have no physical armour. It doesn't matter which damage the Incarnate does as long as the target have no physical armour.
Hi! i just recently got the game because of these guides! I'm a bit confused with the party comp. I started with a preset ifan and changed his stats to have a summoner. How do i get the other 4 members to be custom because as ive read you get the preset version in the solo game of the other party members. I'm trying to do your set up of tectonic mage, eternal warrior and cleric. How do i customize the other party members?
I got a challenge for you as a build idea I love but wonder if you can optimize. I want to see if you can make what I call a Skin Changer class. A summoner warrior hybrid that uses metamorph to deal heavy damage at close range. This is based on both Games of Thrones Skinchangers and Native American legends on skin changes. In my experience with the class, I saw they are great frontline units, and found Polymorph a good fit as a number of combat abilities scale with the strength attribute along with warfare that can be just as powerful and broken as bouncing shield. Also, maybe something to update in a build, but I found Glass Cannon was great for Druid class to build as it allows you to really overpower a summon by stacking abilities, and add support spells to make the summon a beast. Along with a chameleon cloak to hide from the enemy.
I have a 2H magic party. a water, a fire, a earth and a lightning dude with 2H weapons with that element to it (maybe it's the mod, never played without) They all have ranged damage en a special role. Earth can fortify, water restoration, fire haste.. They also can all summon an element to fight along their side. It is really easy.
@@austinin 2 full finesse rangers, cleric shield warrior an a two handed full strength gets you.through the game fast because everyone but cleric hits so hard
Started playing a few days ago. Holy shit is this game intense. I've had to restart multiple times because I've messed up my characters thinking this was d&d.
I generally like to have one "pure" physical character, one "pure" magic character, and two hybrids. It's not perfectly optimized, but you're prepared for anything. You have three people that can attack each enemy's lowest armor type, every time.
played divinity 1 and found out this is the best too. Having 1 pure mage and 1 pure melee meant I could use my other 2 characters ( a rougue and a ranger) do stuff that works best for that battle. Rangers have tons of elemental arrows and a rogue can either backstab or debuff the enemies with grenades from range, this complementing either the melee or mage.
In general in my experience it’s best to have the party all target the same armor type but have for example a ranger with elemental arrows that allows them to target the lower defense or spark striker on a melee so they can spread elemental damage if needed. On top of the obvious give everyone teleport and maybe even a whole bunch of teleport scrolls chameleon cloak cloak and dagger ect. Even vs some of the bulkiest non boss targets for example my shadowblade was able to strip the entirety of one unit’s armor and turn them into a chicken in at minimum 2 turns. For foes with low magic armor I just find it’s best for example to hit them with a bunch of explosive arrows then just petrify them all with Medusa head. Also lone wolf 2 man is very strong too.
@@sreeravi25 the things is, on divinity 1 there's no CC armor like in divinity 2. You can mix your party however you want and it will still do something. Divinity 2 on other hand, not focusing on 1 armor type will just make your party couldn't do damage well
Hey. I just finished baldurs gatev3. And buy dos2.. just wondering.. better pick custom main. Or original main? [ I want to have. Fane red prince. Lohse.. and sebille? Or ifan? ]. I want to have an origin main. but the problem is. Origin main dont have a voice in dialogue.. and. Voice dialigue is a must have for me
Hi mate, Just started playing DSO2. Thank you for making this guide. internet has completly changed the how we access information. For someone like yourself to take teh time to understand the game, strategize and put together your recomendation, it takes effort and talent. I appreciate you doing that for us all. Keep it up!
So the only character I have that is synergizing with the other 3 is my ranger.... everyone else is doing their own thing or hitting each other. That's just wonderful.
To summarize the video: 1.) Do roughly 50% of both physical and magical damage to avoid being stuck in the game. 2.) DOS2 favors ranged combat, so only have 1 melee character at most, especially if other characters like to use AoE damage. 2.a.) Use your melee character to protect your other ranged characters, and he also won't be in your allies' AoE attacks. 3.) Summoning is a must-have skill for any build, since it gives an additional ally and does not rely on other stat boosts to be effective. 4.) Synergize Earth with Fire, and Water with Electricity if you use two or more magical spell types. However, Fire + Electricity and Water + Earth don't conflict, so those combos can work too. 5.) Ideal party setup (4-man): a.) Juggernaut / Eternal Warrior build b.) Ranger with Summoner skill and elemental arrows c.) Tectonic Mage d.) Crystalline Cleric *Bonus:* Lone-Wolf builds (Solo or Duo) typically have Summoner Skill, but the ideal build is up for debate. I suggest 1 character with Summoner, Pyro, and Geo; the other character will have Summoner as well, but with Hydro and Aero. Both characters should also use a shield and wand(s). Matter of fact, it should be easy to invest into every skill up to 2 points so you can function like a Druid though, having two characters who can use both physical and magic damage, especially with a shield that uses a wand or a one-handed weapon. *2nd bonus:* Do _NOT_ fret about race. Pick whatever you want, everyone can do everything well enough, the racial bonuses are just nice little buffs but aren't game-changing.
I just recently got DOS 2 and was having a hard time figuring out how should build my party and then it happened I found fextra. This channel has help me out alot with build and just getting better at DOS 2. So much that I've started my first playthrough on tactical let's just say it's been very hard but well worth it.
Quackstack is another good channel for builds. Personally I like Quack's builds better since they are more optimized. It also helps that Quack is a pun master and makes more entertaining content. Check out his Rogue build as that's the one I think is his best work.
Don't ever say anything in a RPG is difficult or you will have every neckbeard in the world telling you how easy it really is and that you are just bad at it.
our best party ( a friend and mine) did 4 physical characters and it was our best party till then. Its extremly effectiv but there are 2 or 3 fights that might be annoying to that party but still. Its incredibly effectiv till the end. I love it. I think we had a ranger, necromancer, assassin and a warrior .
Have had the Definitive Edition on my PC for almost a year and just now getting around to playing it (was hooked on another game). These guides and builds are excellent. Subbed.
Used the old party combinations video to make my first party to complete the game (Eternal Warrior, Ranger, Tidalist, & Stormchaser) after owning DOS 2 for a while but never making any notable progress. Now I'm trying to do a solo Lone Wolf run and I'm running through as many build guides as I can. Glad to see this pop up and excited for more DOS 2 build guides.
U dont know how badass u are for making a new video on this game ive literarly started playing this amazing game 2 weeks ago absolutley love it and ive looked at so many of ur build guides. Ive almost made a spreadsheet over your videoes to try to understand the games build composition and synergy. Thank you so much for this video❤️
My current party is: Battlemage focusing on summoner (red prince) Shadowblade focusing on polymorph (sebille) Ranger (ifan) Geo-Hydro enchanter (lohse) And it’s honestly been a pretty decent build so far. Currently hit act 3 and am wading through the nameless isle. Excited to see where it goes. Definitely doing lone wolf Fane X Beast next since i didnt get to see their stories unfold
Haven't even watched the video yet but I just wanna comment to say that Fextralife is by far one of my favourite gaming channels to watch ever i love you guys
You definitly make the best build video's. Very informative, easy to follow, and your voice is pleasant to listen to. I can't wait for Baldur's Gate 3 and I'll definitly will check out your videos's about it. Greetings from the Netherlands :D
I found rogue scoundrel/warfare/dualwield/polymorph to be insanely op with basically endless cc. with backstab can break armor in usually 1-2 hits and adrenaline plus skin graft is nuts, not to mention if you are playing it as fane for time warp or as an elf for flesh sacrifice and you get the warfare talent 2 ap on first kill of the turn you get like an free whole extra turn within the turn lol

It's also good to give your ranger the teleport ability. Combined with range increasing buffs, it is perfect for moving other party members, enemies around the battlefield. You don't mention rogues, but at higher levels they be incredibly useful, e.g. backstab to jump into combat, followed by sleeping arms / gag order, then cloak and dagger to jump back out (+adrenaline if they need more AP). Or cast chloroform to nuke the target's magic armour, then a charm type spell.
I'm thinking of giving everyone in my party that ability because of its versatility. Want to group enemies together for a big value AOE cast? Teleport. Want to remove a powerful enemy from play for a while/permanently? Teleport. One of your party members is in the middle of a hazardous place or surrounded by enemies? Teleport
@@MrDgf97 yeah used strategically it can be a battle changer. Pick up a powerful enemy and teleport them into the middle of some lava or down the bottom of a cliff. If you time it right you can even have multiple party members taking it in turns to cast an enemy further and further away. I found teleport useful to an extreme in exploring as well, just have two party members with teleport and have them take it in turns to teleport the other ahead of them. In fact really all you need to win is two characters with teleport and a bed roll to recover hit points !
Thanks for the video, it really helped me to understand the game more as a new player. Only downside is 3 out of these 4 builds have all recommended the elf race.
I found so much difficulty with this game in the beginning... but I'm finally enjoying it! It's like a non-stop chess game with a constantly changing board. It's definitely becoming one of my favorite games.

This is literally the only thing I subscribe too. Great helpful video guys like you really encourage people who normally wouldn’t play this type of game to play it taking away a lot of worries from the first glance overwhelming complexity of the game.
Physical damage is the way to go imo, because it scales with the 3 main stats, Strength=knight or brawler, intelligence=Necromancer and finesse= rogue or ranger, in this way you can also equip most of your party with the best gear for each stat with no competition, and virtually any necromancer, warfare, scoundrel or range spell has AoE friendly damage
Found fextralife from after RPG Division. His quides first then yours. But without this game I would have not found either, this is a true masterpiece. Still watching any/every DoS2 video you make. Thanks for your insight.
My first build I went all physical. Eternal warrior, warden, ranger(w/ summoning), and blood mage. Super nice synergy!!! Following the guides made for a fantastic first play-through.
I have been having a lot of success with 2 melee and 2 casters. 2h warfare-morph, 1h shield warfare-geo, necro-cleric, and pyro-geo. I either open up with big damage/aoe pryo skills before my melee characters get engaged, or if that is not possible then I use my pyro to damage any enemy ranged characters. I have a lot of mobility in my party through polymorph, tactical retreat, and teleportation so I can move characters around the battle field if I need to get them out of the way of an aoe spell I want to cast or put them in position to engage an enemy ranged character. It is common for me to take a melee character that is engaged with multiple melee enemies and teleport them away, then follow that up with an aoe spell on the area with the multiple enemies clumped together. Of course, all of this depends on your characters turn orders, spell cooldowns, etc. I always make sure my pyro-geo has plenty of utility spells to assist the party if they cannot lay down damage because the fight is too close quarters. Another note: remember you don't have to immediately push your melee characters into combat. You can position them appropriately in front of your ranged characters and just skip their turn until the enemies close the distance. This allows you to bank AP, cast any buffs those characters may have, and allow your ranged aoe spells to do their work until the enemies engage with your melee. Make sure your casters have at least one single target no AOE spell as well.
I've been thinking about finally making the time to play this game, even though I'm super late to the party, and this video was exactly the push I needed! Can't wait to try these
You’re not that late haha in fact they’ve just added new content that is available when you start a new game so I want to start again . New foes new Loot and new lore all for free in the latest gift bag the four relics of rivellon and they don’t affect achievements
You sir have my sub! Thank you for your awesome guides m8 they realy helped out a lot. My fav group so far is the Assasin, Ranger, Frost Paladin and the All mighty Elementalist :D but maybe i'm switching Elementalist for Geomancer since u praise them so much idk. But most importantly tho, its so much fun playing those guys and i apreciate your hard work doing all those amazing guides!
Awesome that you keep making content for this game! I've been playing for the first time recently and your guides have been a huge help. I opted for an all-physical party with your Eternal Warrior, Ranger, Bloodmage, and Duelist builds and it's been working really really well.
An explanation of the “Nobody” meme: It’s a joke on nobody asking for a certain type of content. For example, a person in a classroom standing up and stating that they have the best grade in the class, without anyone having asked them in the first place. It would look like so: Nobody: Smart Kid: blah blah blah It isn’t one of my favourite memes, and it’s awfully overused, but there are some genius instances of it. In this case of this video, it works because none of us expected this video so late after all of Fextralife’s Divinity videos over the course of the last year or so. Nobody was asking for it, but it was created nonetheless. The difference in this case is that none of us mind.
Great video. I am just getting ready to start DOS 2 for the first time. I really enjoyed DOS 1 and pretty much used the same set up you are mentioning in this video to beat it on tactician mode. I was planning on using a similar build, so I am glad to hear it is a solid one in this game as well.
I've been looking for something new for console that's an RPG, but offers a singleplayer experience, like FF7. This game popped up as the best. So I'm looking into it. I'm pleased to see someone still talking about this game in 2020 and giving guidance, since it seems it was released in 2017. I thought this game would have died out or something by now, but it looks like it still has intrest so that's a good sign. Never played a game like this one, hope it lives up to the hype.
Its crazy how good DOS 2 is. I have 230 hrs into this game and I'll not play it for 6 months and then come back and its like a brand new game all over again. Larian is such a great Dev team and anyone worried about baldurs gate 3 should go play divinty 2 until release
5:15 While I understand where you are coming from, I believe the usage of fire and water by two different mages can be taken care of, if one of them is using lightning. Water on fire causes mist, which can then be electrified with electricity. Also, it can be hard for me to imagine -not- having the ability to douse flames on hand, even (or perhaps, especially) if you bring a fire user along. As most players know, things in divinity tend to explode and burn very, -very- often.
@@li6706 Not just blood. Water can douse flames too. Spell effects can get quite interactive in Divinity 2- You can freeze the splattered blood for example.
I started the game a few days ago, I have like 15 hours played and until now I'm understanding better what I'm doing. The guides in this channel are great, I also used the builds here for Code Vein.
I recently beat the game using an Eternal Warrior (love that build), Juggernaut (more focused on using Warfare than Earth as it turns out), Ranger with occasional summoning and a Druid with a few extra support and damage spells (Though she spent more time summoning and healing ) and had a lot of fun with it. Pretty much all physical, so summoning a Blood Incarnate and Blood Totems was always the aim of the game there. While I didn't use many spells with my Juggernaut, Earthquake was handy on occasion, but more often than not, I tend to pile in on one target at a time. Either way, your builds not only helped me to learn the game, and how it works, but also to beat it in the end. Thank you for all your hard work on your content ^^
Hey. I just finished baldurs gatev3. And buy dos2.. just wondering.. better pick custom main. Or original main? [ I want to have. Fane red prince. Lohse.. and sebille? Or ifan? ]. My first party was all magic. With 1 summoner+pyro, 1 aerothunge (for fire resistance enemies), 1 healer+jack of all magics except hydro and 1 geomancer. Geo+Pyro is probably the most insane combo. There were some explosions that would cover the ENTIRE battlefield. Was pretty risky but super fun composition. If I ever get to a second full playthrough I would definitely try the aero+hydro combo. Was watching someone's stream and they were basically CCing every enemy with this combo. Oh and the best way to enjoy this game is to have 4 party members and preferably origin characters. The added pressure of saving every member makes the combat more fun and satisfying. Lone wolf is broken especially with chameleon.
My dude I love it. One thing that would be great is a "top 4 party comps" video. As someone who loves the game but isn't familiar from start of finish, a "do these 4 parties and you'll be fine" video would be great. or 2 or 3 or 5 whatever. either way your builds are fantastic and couldn't appreciate your work more!
Love this game. Working on a 3rd playthru now. Playing with 2 ranged bow or crossbow users and 2 magic users. Works great. Played twice when it released and came back when jonesing for some more games like baldurs gate 3
This video really helped me get going with building my party in an effective way. I'm on my 3rd playthrough of the game now and I'm running with a geomancer mage , summoner hydro cleric, eternal warrior, and a spear bow combo ranger. I was running summons on my ranger before but felt that enemy assassins and rangers would focus him down way too hard, so giving him a spear and some warfare skills helped a lot. Swapped the summons onto my cleric cuz I felt that there were many turns where my damaging spells were on cd and I didn't need to heal.
Thanks been having a tough time deciding on how many ranged to melee in my team. I had a feeling most people would have 2 melee and 2 ranged but seeing that it is more common to have 3 ranged i can now continue on. Can't wait to see what more content i currently trying out the warden build
Great video, very helpful. It's pronounced "may-lay" or "meh-LAY", though (latter is French.) Double E carries an "ay" sound in languages like French and Dutch.
the best party is either all go physical or go magical so you can CC your enemy, and the latter suck because enemies had different resistance or even worse, immunity. going physical will always be superior choice because all your party member can contribute their damage to the enemies for melting those armor point, even enemy with physical resistance and high armor. Best party IMO is consist of 1 Knight (two handed user), 1 Ranger, 1 Necromancer+Summoner, and 1 Support Mage(get all support magic from all school, max hydrosophist).
I haven't thought to much about what I want the other party members to do yet, My main focus is my custom character. I plan to run the whole game with Lohse Sebille (Was gonna be fane but he had an unfortunate incident.) And beast. I killed the red prince cause I can't stand people who think they're better than everyone else. (Yes I know i'm missing a lot by doing that but this is hardly going to be my only playthrough) Generally I think it's gonna go like this. My custom. High damage mage with a variety of spells. Primarily summons to tank damage and distract. With some supportive spells. Lohse is my healer and support as well as emergency evac. (Teleport spell or at the back to escape and resurrect the party later.) Beast is gonna be my debuffer and melee. Sebille is going to be my critical hitter. (Still on the fence about what I want her to do though) All will have some means of dealing with both physical and magical armor.
I swear the majority of players i see (and mostly always newcomers) end up hating Prince to the point of killing him, ditching is one thing but as someone who mains prince in my current 1st play through, ya’ll really are missing the point and charm of his character, let alone his eventual character development, idk i just find it a bit weird, you do you tho
@@MonsterZeroLITE . Now you are exaggerating a little here, because he actually doesn't get much a character development, he remains mostly the same even until the end of the game, and his Red Princess is one of the most annoying characters in the entire game.
@@SeventhheavenDK Hey I never claimed my character was good. They do what they please. Usually I play the goody two shoes type help and save everyone I possibly can. Wanted to try something different for once. I plan on doing multiple playthroughs to cover the other characters. But for right now I just wanna see how it goes. If I regret it down the line I'll start over
i disagree with going all in on a single type of elemental damage, IE; oil/pyro, as some enemies are completely immune to certain damage types, especially fire. it's much more effective to have a wide array of elemental types as you never know when you might need to do a different type of elemental damage.
This is really important. Poison and fire are the two most resisted elements, and water spells aren't very damage focused (or cost 3AP which is icky). I personally really like Aerothurge because the teleport spells are super useful and the damage spells are typically pretty effective. There are shock-immune enemies, and some enemies can't be teleported, but I think air is pretty consistent in its utility. That said, best party comp is 4 rogues, prove me wrong.
@@wyattwren279 Poison is a big nope 🙅🏻 for a large chunk of later game since everyone is generally undead or they throw fire attacks around like its going out of style, add in void blood or in general cursed surfaces and you have necrofire spreading uncontrollably
I started playing this around christmas and it's already one of my favorite games of all time. even if the game was literally just act 1 it would be worth it
As a lover of battlemages, my two front fighters are warfare+pyro+hydro and warfare+geo+aero. This way, they won't be locked out of doing ranged magic if an enemy has a high resistance to one particular element, and often they have high resistance to two elements that work well together, say air and water. With this setup, I also have Ifan as a ranger and Fane as a support mage, thinking geo and necro, not sure yet.
Nice video, started playing on my switch. Dont shame me, I finished witcher 3 on the switch and there was a hole. Tried Pilars and boy what a shame that was. This one so far had been solid and the voice acted everything, just really helps as everything in witcher was too. I like this hyper high fantasy world.
@@zarddin Its not as simple as building necro and winning the entire game easily. At least in high difficulty (tactician/honour mode). Still, its a powerful class, and some fights can be made even trivial thanks to spells like Mass Corpse explosion.
pretty funny, your optimal party looks so different from mine. I'm really partial to go deep on 1 damage type break armor and just cc the opponent that can hurt you:)
Yep same here.. i’ve recently started playing with a friend again and our current party is: him an elementalist that also heals a bit, me: a Polymorph that also has some necromancy skills for a nice mix of range and close combat so when they run away from me or whatever i can still smack them down with my necromancy skills, Fane who in our case is a rogue but he is the weakest of the team because we just don’t find he right armor for him. And finally Beast whom is our tank.
I beat Tactician with a 4-character mixed damage party. Didn’t even have to save scum or reload a save for the vast majority of the playthrough, except with a couple fights forward the very end. Also beat it on Honour Mode, but that was admittedly a two character ‘Lone Wolf’ run focusing on physical damage - because it’s the least resisted by almost every enemy in the game. There are many ways to approach (or avoid) almost any fight or encounter in the game. Sure there are optimal builds and some skills are better choices than others…but don’t let that get in your way. It’s a role playing game, not a hardcore turn-based combat simulator. Have fun with it and embrace your creativity.
Also mixing summoner and necro works well because you cover both phy and mg. The support abilies from summoning can be used on your necro summons as well. Somerhing people seem to have not noticed.
Me and the misses are playing a melee Warfare+Aero(and a splash of Pyro now) character and a Hydro/Geo ranged character. I picked this combination because I wanted us to HAVE to cooperate with each other. Its made this Lone Wolf playtrough very VERY fun for us.
I have a full ranger (half phys half magic) party and two pretty good ranged skills to counter melee enemies are Worm Tremor (geomancer skill) combined with the Torturer talent (to apply it immediately) and Spider Legs to apply the enwebbed status effect :)
Any party is fun. As long as you progress in the story, it doesn’t matter if you can’t one shot an enemy. One might argue that if the fight is difficult, the joy of winning it is so much greater. The secret to enjoying the game is to scout ahead and try to plan your approach to any fight. Run away if you have to and come back with a better plan.
Im playing through for the first time at the moment, let me tell you, necro warrior is AWESOME. He can fully heal himself, apply constant debuffs, and also be very tanky. Ive got him complimented by a pyro battle mage, a ranger and a support mage, and i literally have almost 0 trouble with all the fights thus far (level 12 playing on classic)
Jon Webb you might as well restart if you aren’t using the most recent gift bag they released a few days ago. It has new content four new armour sets to find around rivellon and a few other things available automatically on creation if a new game
Good video, good content my friends.. just playing the game recently and it's going good for until the tactical begin the stun, the charm, the blinding.. lol so here I am searching for tutorial and good to see your content helping me a loot..
I recently started a solo campaign. I have a warrior (similar to your eternal warrior - mostly warfare and polymorph, while dipping into necromancy a bit for the sustain), a rogue, a summoner mage (dipping into most elements, but so far focusing mainly on fire), and a ranger. Was unsure what to do with the ranger, and ended up giving her summoning as well, so essentially I have two summoners. Gives me quite a lot of flexibility for choosing which armour type to focus on, as both summoners can essentially choose whether they want to summon a magic or physical damage dealer. Probably not the optimal setup, but I quite like it so far!
Me and my buddies usually do a duo mage setup (undead geomancer/hydrosophist) but i got a new buddy on the game and were playing a mage and an up front warrior, been alot of fun trying to keep him alive
Morning Fextralife, I recently restarted after a rough start to the game just got into it due to limited moving and here is what I am working with as a party : Main: I went with your Elf Eternal Knight build Second: Red Prince Battlemage Pyro Third: Infran Ranger/Summer build Last: Selebe Frost knight as a healer physical I feel this is a good fit and it seems to synergize well. So far I have not run into alot of the issues why first try at the game but would like your thoughts? I am trying as best to build the party out per your builds and how they might work. Appreciate any feedback and recently subscribed due to your very informative builds and other videos as the game didn't provide me much context in the begining. Respectfully, Aaron
Man, I can say I have subscribed after watching some class guides. I am positive that your vids will make this awesome game more enjoyable. Keep up the good work!🤞
So i'm wanting to try this suggested party comp, but it seems like you recommend elf for pretty much each one! If I want to use Origin characters which ones would you recommend for each build? I'm thinking Sebille for either Tectonic Sage or Cleric, Fane or Red Prince for Eternal Warrior, Ifan for Ranger/Summoner, then Beast or Fane for either Sage or Cleric? I dunno! Also which would be best to start the game with? Looking to try Tactician
I scrolled through the comments to see if anyone asked this exact question. I'm surprised it wasn't asked more. It is a conundrum, no? I am stalling a new start because a) complete RPG noob build paralysis and b) I effed up my first playthrough and want to try this party comp as well. @Fextralife If only one of these can be an Elf, which one would you prioritize? Also, I really appreciate your thoughtful and content and demeanor.
Not sure if either of you still play this game but I figured it would be worth leaving this for anyone else coming by in the future. It is possible to have a 4 elf party and still use the origin characters thanks to Fane's..."Hobby", shall we call it? If you question and recruit him in act 1 (regardless of if you plan on using him as a companion later, just do it and dismiss him if you don't want him) he teaches you how to make the masks by combining a ripped face and a source orb. Now, later on in act 1 you recover his original mask, which you can use early to begin making fake elves. Basically, when you are disguised as a race, that character *becomes* that race in almost every way as far as the game is concerned. you gain that races talents and abilities and lose your own (mostly) for as long as you wear their face. If you choose to use Fane's mask though, you should note that it is not removable if you want to keep the abilities, which means you'll have to do without a helmet on your fake elf, but frankly the extra AP and %damage is much more worth it than 15 armor and 1 or 2 temporary skill points for most builds. The real fun begins in act 2 and later though, when you gain access to Source orbs. You can use these orbs to create the individual race masks, which, for whatever reason *don't* have to stay equipped when you use them, which means you can be a fake elf and still use a helmet. Also worth noting is that Fane's mask will allow you to consume left over pieces of people and gain their memories the same way a "normal" elf does, which means you can access all of the cannibal item stashes, quest help, and (Free!) abilities once you have it even if you don't use Sebille in your party. A word of warning for Fane players or undead customs though, your healing aversion and love of poison are *NOT* removed regardless of what race you switch too, even though the talent that grants them *IS* removed, so don't try to cast restoration on your undead fake elves, and keep a supply of poison potions handy for them still.
Lone Wolf summoner and Lone Wolf summoner... you're welcome. If you want an even easier time go 4 (or 2 lonewolf) telekinesis people with executioner. Or do both

@@FurryCruz qqq
I couldn't find the build of the crystalline Cleric, was it remove?
There are no perfect parties, but there are terrible ones. Mine was such. I realized this thanks to you.
I think our full physical dmg party was pretty much perfect with some exceptional fights.
the only bad party is one that has no cc in it as thats how you hard win lol
I have a 2H magic party. a water, a fire, a earth and a lightning dude with 2H weapons with that element to it (maybe it's the mod, never played without) They all have ranged damage en a special role. Earth can fortify, water restoration, fire haste.. They also can all summon an element to fight along their side. It is really easy.
@@Maximum7077 agreed.
@@fromoz9294 the only fights that are hard are the one with evasion :D. Otherwise it's pretty damn good

Austin Tessier isnt SinTee out of date? Looking at his builds they are all solo/lone wolf and pre definitive edition
Divinity 2 on other hand, not focusing on 1 armor type will just make your party couldn't do damage well
Summoner + Ranger is my go to. It's just so good regardless of the party you take. It's a one-man army once you get things going.

Ranger goes with everything!
To summarize the video:
1.) Do roughly 50% of both physical and magical damage to avoid being stuck in the game.
5.) Ideal party setup (4-man):
a.) Juggernaut / Eternal Warrior build
b.) Ranger with Summoner skill and elemental arrows
c.) Tectonic Mage
d.) Crystalline Cleric
*Bonus:* Lone-Wolf builds (Solo or Duo) typically have Summoner Skill, but the ideal build is up for debate.
So much that I've started my first playthrough on tactical let's just say it's been very hard but well worth it.
use items and increase stat that lets the magic nuker go first so you don't nuke your melee defender
Quackstack is another good channel for builds. Personally I like Quack's builds better since they are more optimized. It also helps that Quack is a pun master and makes more entertaining content. Check out his Rogue build as that's the one I think is his best work.
Dude it's an easy game if you select the right fights u can play any style u need to be honest just be creative.
What was exactly hard? Are you new to rpgs?
Don't ever say anything in a RPG is difficult or you will have every neckbeard in the world telling you how easy it really is and that you are just bad at it.
our best party ( a friend and mine) did 4 physical characters and it was our best party till then. Its extremly effectiv but there are 2 or 3 fights that might be annoying to that party but still. Its incredibly effectiv till the end. I love it. I think we had a ranger, necromancer, assassin and a warrior .
I just played this game recently and i am just in LOVE with this game, thx for still uploading the guides man, helps a lot.
My current party is:
Battlemage focusing on summoner (red prince)
Shadowblade focusing on polymorph (sebille)
Ranger (ifan)
Geo-Hydro enchanter (lohse)
And it’s honestly been a pretty decent build so far. Currently hit act 3 and am wading through the nameless isle. Excited to see where it goes.
Definitely doing lone wolf Fane X Beast next since i didnt get to see their stories unfold
Haven't even watched the video yet but I just wanna comment to say that Fextralife is by far one of my favourite gaming channels to watch ever

Absolutely love the guides man, thank you so much for all of the effort gone into making them - and showing them off.
Your comment has just determined the direction of my character in my brand new co-op playthrough of this game which I just bought lol, thank you

I love how you can see spiff's perfectly balanced vid about a garden in the recomendations when he shows his old vid.
Great vid, it's actually hard to find understandable videos that explain this stuff, well done! Thanks

Good morning you DOS BASTARDS
Can't wait to try these
Same here. I have owned this game for almost a year and just haven't had time to start it yet. But I will be very soon.

@@Unibot47 yea, i don't understand what these mean......35years young, guess im outta the loop.
Biff i am glad someone said it. Literally one of the top 3 dumbest memes of all time.
An explanation of the “Nobody” meme:
It’s a joke on nobody asking for a certain type of content.
For example, a person in a classroom standing up and stating that they have the best grade in the class, without anyone having asked them in the first place. It would look like so:
Nobody:
Smart Kid: blah blah blah
It isn’t one of my favourite memes, and it’s awfully overused, but there are some genius instances of it.
In this case of this video, it works because none of us expected this video so late after all of Fextralife’s Divinity videos over the course of the last year or so. Nobody was asking for it, but it was created nonetheless. The difference in this case is that none of us mind.
Thanks a lot for this information! I am going to have some fun playing this game with my Brother!

While I understand where you are coming from, I believe the usage of fire and water by two different mages can be taken care of, if one of them is using lightning.
Water on fire causes mist, which can then be electrified with electricity.
Also, it can be hard for me to imagine -not- having the ability to douse flames on hand, even (or perhaps, especially) if you bring a fire user along. As most players know, things in divinity tend to explode and burn very, -very- often.
I thought only blood doused flames???

Glad to see more Divinity videos. Just started playing it again!
Check out his earlier party comp video - it has recommended parties for all physical, all magic, and mixed damage

Just got back in this masterpiece of a game. Hope to see even some more builds. What's the name of the outro soundtrack though?
Got this game and have been loving it, your guides help immensely for such a dense game!
the best party is either all go physical or go magical so you can CC your enemy, and the latter suck because enemies had different resistance or even worse, immunity. going physical will always be superior choice because all your party member can contribute their damage to the enemies for melting those armor point, even enemy with physical resistance and high armor.
(Yes I know i'm missing a lot by doing that but this is hardly going to be my only playthrough)
Generally I think it's gonna go like this.
If your character killed the Red Prince only because of that...that makes your character even worse, very annoyingly self righteous.
I started playing this around christmas and it's already one of my favorite games of all time. even if the game was literally just act 1 it would be worth it
Please, more Divinity 2 videos. Just bought the game, and I am so overwhelmed with build choices!
Polymorph ftw.
Thank you for this. Love your builds . Have been super helpful for me
As a lover of battlemages, my two front fighters are warfare+pyro+hydro and warfare+geo+aero.
Happy you are back. I really hope you will update older builds like juggernaut soon :D
Optimal party composition is: 1 Necromancer. Game Over. Easiest game ever made.
Can you please explain and elaborate why :P? I don't have the game yet :P
@@zarddin necro is high dps with sustain
Your guides are so helpful. Thank you!
Make an undead human and get yourself an unending cascade of Ornate Chest damage.
Ahh a man of culture I see.
Thank you guy's! Still here for your help for this game ! Still here for funny builds !
Man you’re vids really helped my play through. Great stuff
Maybe other people’s joy comes from designing and building strong party composition and build crafting.
I never thought about a necro-cleric-warrior hybrid before, might compliment a full physical party quite well.
@@KingQuatto Can't get achievements if you are using a gift bag can you?
Dominic Manester I think you can with that one not 100% sure though it says it’s automatically added if you create a new game
Dominic Manester this gift bag will not affect your achievements from Larian Studios
in other words, the OG D&D party
I completed the game twice but I'm just watching because I love the game so much
Good video, good content my friends.. just playing the game recently and it's going good for until the tactical begin the stun, the charm, the blinding.. lol so here I am searching for tutorial and good to see your content helping me a loot..
THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU!
Glad I could help!
Man I've been waiting for this video since definitive dropped
Morning Fextralife,
I recently restarted after a rough start to the game just got into it due to limited moving and here is what I am working with as a party :
Main: I went with your Elf Eternal Knight build
Second: Red Prince Battlemage Pyro
Third: Infran Ranger/Summer build
Last: Selebe Frost knight as a healer physical
I feel this is a good fit and it seems to synergize well. So far I have not run into alot of the issues why first try at the game but would like your thoughts? I am trying as best to build the party out per your builds and how they might work. Appreciate any feedback and recently subscribed due to your very informative builds and other videos as the game didn't provide me much context in the begining.
Respectfully,
Aaron
Man, I can say I have subscribed after watching some class guides. I am positive that your vids will make this awesome game more enjoyable. Keep up the good work!🤞
Your dos2 build videos are the absolute best. Any chance we can see new builds soon? Keep up the good work :)
They are coming!
@@Fextralife thank you!!!
Thank you !!! Can't wait ^^
Or do both
warrior: eternal warrior/juggernaut
ranger: summoner
mage: geomancy (tectonic sage)
crystalline cleric
Just downloaded it. going for a
Eternal warrior(deathknight) , scourge wizard, crystal cleric, glacial guardian.
Your videos will save me years of effort. That i would need to put in to achieve this level of lore knowledge. Thank you sir
This helped me decide my last character's build. Thanks!
Thank you for this update!
