Have you tried the alternate scoring/pattern cards for the fox. Both of the other scoring cards are more fun in my view than the one they have you start with.
If you're talking about the B, C and D scoring cards, I think they are easier to arrange so that you get points from both the fox and the other animal's scoring requirement.
