It always struck me as odd that Gordon never recognizes Alfred’s voice as the “mysterious voice on the Batphone” despite meeting him numerous times. Also absolutely LOVE Return of the Caped Crusaders and Vs. Two Face
@@LiveFromThePorcelainPalace it is odd but ironically enough there is an episode that addresses this where commissioner Gordon admits he thought Bruce wayne and batman were the same person cause the voice was so similar but batman comes up with a way to have himself on the phone while he as batman is in the commisioners office. The show addresses a lot of those common questions to where it makes sense.
This iteration of Batman has always been a favorite of mine, as a kid who grew up with all the darker Batman stuff like the Nolan movies, Animated Series and Burton films. There was something really cool about seeing colorful lighthearted versions of characters I knew to be dark and serious
Yeah it kind of depends on the era you grew up. Serious batman vs witty comic batman but the 60s it was still based on the comic at the time. I do like the more detective side as well as the humor in 1960s batman vs now it seems to be more about beating guys up and scaring them or always like "ahhh you killed my parents" like that Gothic batman. I do like the atmosphere of the darker batman if had to pick the 60s batman Is always my go to favorite especially of batman and Robin.
Thanks. Grandparents, eh? I'll have you know I resemble that remark, young man! I grew up watching afternoon reruns of this show. Couldn't stand to miss it. I have this movie and I love it unconditionally. It and the series it was meant to kick off are a tongue-in-cheek send up. It knows what it is and it winks at us while pretending to take itself seriously. I understood that more as I got older, but never stopped loving it. tavi.
Return of the Caped Crusaders is one of my favorite animated movies. It manages to both absolutely feel like it belongs in the 66 Batman universe, and it also dials the craziness up to 11 in every possible way.
No mention of "Return to the Batcave"? You showed a short clip of it where Adam West and Burt Ward sit in the Batmobile, but I think it deserves a mention. It even had the villain actors return like the Riddler, not long before he died. And old Adam West doing the Batootsie, or what his dance was called ^^
The show *Legends of Tomorrow* also "self-parodied" the DC universe a lot, especially in the later seasons. (season 1 in particular was pretty serious, the tone of the show really changed after that) It's too bad it was cancelled before they had a chance to make a real ending for it, but on the other hand, we're lucky we've got that many seasons (7) of the show to begin with. It's not often we get to see that many obscure DC characters come to life in live-action, in episodes/scenarios that reminded me of "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" and "Justice League: Action" Good stuff. But aside from hardcore DC fans in love with the secondary characters, not a lot of people watched it I guess... oh well, Matt Ryan as John Constantine was worth it.
Ironically, this isn't even the first big screen appearance of Batman and Robin. Many people forget the serials that came before this in 1943 and 1949.
@@fadelrizalr1030 Not that I'm aware. 🤣😂 But, I was just thinking the other day, wouldn't it be cool to do a crossover with Batman and Zorro, with Zorro coming to modern day and working with Batman. Ben Affleck and Antonio Banderas co-starring. 🤔😁

Just starting this video but I gotta say me and my wife recently watched these animated Adam West movies and laughed soooooo hard. They were great. And Adam West is hilariously drunk.
King tut was the only one who figured out batmans identity in the orginal. Egghead came close. He figured it out but never got confrontation of it. So king tut was the only one who found out and confirmed to himself but was knocked back to his normal state before he could expose it.

This show was extremely intelligent! You just have to be intelligent enough to understand their willful silliness! It was tongue in cheek on purpose! It always irritates me when people tear down this show! "Not a lot of brains behind it" as you say. You have to be smart to understand what they were going for. Hell, Adam West would constantly plant his tongue firmly in his cheek after delivering his lines. You keep saying "I never understood...." , well that much is obvious!
Your title led me to believe you were going to talk about all the 3 part episodes as if they could have been edited into movies. To which I say the 3 part episodes should be edited into movies.
My guess is the animated movies didn't include Batgirl out of respect for Yvonne Craig. She passed away the year prior to the first one & It wouldn't feel right having the main leads back but having an impersonator beside them.
Both Batman vs Two-Face and Batman and Harley Quinn came out about the same time, and I watched them both right after each other. I was expecting Batman vs Two-Face to be campier and less serious, since it's a sequel to Return of the caped crusaders, and I expected Batman and Harley Quinn to be more serious and less funny since it's inspired by the animated 90s series and starts off very violent. And that's why I was disappointed with both movies, they should have brought some comedy from the Harley Quinn movie and give it to Two-Face.
1966 Batman The Movie was played straight unlike the TV series you can tell that if you watch the show first season then this movie you can tell it's a little bit more like the WB Batman Movies then the 1966 TV show.
Man, he runs with a bomb for 10 minute straight before it blows up, the movie does not feel serious at all. It's on the same tone with the rest of the series for me.
First of all this is Batman's third outing on the big screen, not his first. Secondly, at 5:55 you said golden age and I'm pretty sure you meant to say Silver age

I finally figured out some of the BS. The movie was originally supposed to be a pilot for the series. It should have hit screen first. Batman simply didn't know Catwoman that well yet. Makes as much sense as anything else!
Typical view one of my impressions of this movie it was fantastic a view that is a changed it was certainly worth waiting for as a kid I thought was its Batman and Robin no matter where it appeared it would become a cultural icon of the 60s to 70s and into the early 80s without this a younger Tim Barton would never of dreamt up his classic take of his best work even though it wasn't as chessie or cool as the original? You are actually wrong about this 60s Batman begin the very first movie of Batman there is a back and white film set in 1930s called The Bat a very different version of the cape and cowl a lot darker and scarier than DC comis hero but still his a Bat Man that must be the earliest version of the darker Knight?
but with that now said I would say play the episodes that the WB movies tryed to copy then play the movies and you will get what I mean about the movie.
What do you mean "You'll never be able to solve the Riddler's riddles"? This is Batman 66 Riddler, all of his riddles have intentionally super obvious answers. The show was written for CHILDREN! In fact though the entire series it was always obvious what villains were involved with any particular crime because their crimes were always on theme with the character who was committing them. You don't have to be a genius to solve the "riddles" in this series, it's like solving 2+2. I don't think there's a single riddle in the series that is difficult to figure out unless it's your first time hearing them... and you're like 4. The Batman's Riddler I don't think it's possible to actually solve his riddles. That movie was made as more of a detective film where Batman hardly ever fights anyway and plays up more of the detective side but it just ends up being super boring because I have no idea how he actually pieces Riddler's plan together. He's not even Edward Nigma in that movie how did Batman even figure out his real identity without the painfully obvious E. Nigma reference? Also in regards to Two-Face... they had originally cast William Shatner not Clint Eastwood to play the role. An episode was written for him with Shatner in the role but the episode didn't end up happening because the make up required for the character was pretty much impossible in the 60's. Because of that the idea was scrapped. Clint Eastwood was a major name in Hollywood and would have been too expensive to hire for a low budget T.V. series so I don't know where you got the idea that he was ever even considered. And Shatner is the actor who would still end up in the role for the movie where they even made his animation model look like Young William Shatner as he appeared in the 60's even though Willaim Shatner doesn't actually look like that anymore. There was actually plans to make more of these animated movies but those plans where canceled when Adam West passed away. Even though this series is known for recasting a lot of it's actors already there was no interest in continuing without Adam West in the role.
Its campy and great. Nolan Batman takes itself to seriously, is woke, and boring. His films are always full of Batman getting lectured by Lucious Fox, and Alfred, who wants to watch that? Comic book logic. He met Bruce and Dick all the time and Dick looks exactly like Robin with a silly mask on.
