This is the part of the game where coaster nerds like me have an advantage, from every in-game coaster type I can think of a few real-life examples and I instantly know how to make a realistic layout. I suck at scenery though :)
xD Yeah, I don't know anything about coasters, and i've only ridden like 2 in my life.... :( However, I know Game, art and design, so I can still compete in terms of building stuff! :D
The problem about being a coaster nerd is that when you try to make a recreation of your favorite coasters they always end up being too intense for guests.
I hope people are always telling you what a great guy you are. The work you've done to promote Planet Coaster and assist this community are nothing short of superhero-ish. I can't tell you how much I've learned by watching your videos and listening to your commentary. Someday I may actually build a park. When I do, if it's good, it's all down to you and the other masters of this universe. Thanks!!

I figured this was a great reference guide for coaster building, so I figured I'd add a little chronological cheat-sheet to make it easier to navigate on the fly. Many thanks to Johnny for the work he put into this. This was the least I could do to show my appreciation. 👍🏼
It's so cool when you recognise these coasters from real life, like the 'Dive' coaster is 'Oblivion' and the Stingray is "Air"/"Galactica", both from Alton Towers (UK)! :D
Stingray's default color looks like its based off of Manta at SWO and the default Dive seems to be Griffin at BGW, but yeah it's the same models (Rival kinda looks like Nemesis tho)
You should revise the guide to include the coasters from the Spring and Summer Updates of the game. You should also add a guide for every flat ride and track ride in the game.
So is there no coatser in PlanCo that allows you to run it forward and then in reverse? In Astrowrold Houston there was a ride called Greased Lighting that launched you out of the station to an inverted loop then 90° straight up. Then you ran the loop in reverse back through the station into another 90° and then back to the station for the finish. It was one of my faves as a kid. The whole ride was maybe 20 seconds. One summer my mom took my brother and I on like a Tuesday so the place was empty. The dude let my brother and I ride it until we were sick. He ran it until we asked him to stop. It was straight out of a movie.
Hmm, we will have to wait for after tomorrows update before I start planning something like this. They said they are making improvements to the coasters! :D But, yes I was planning on making coaster blueprints soon, so I should be putting notes aside and this could help me make a guide! :D
Hopefully a quick question (or a stupid one) - how do you make it on the loony turns coaster so that you have 4 trains going around the track at the same time? I thought you could only do it with block brakes but that would make them stop. Or is it just on coasters that use the "single" carriage rather than trains? Great vid by the way!
Thank you Ant! And there are no stupid questions here at Channel5 Gaming! :) So there are 2 methods of getting more carts onto ANY track, you named the first one, break block sections, and if this method is done PERFECTLY, you should have no wait points at all and 2 or more coasters running non-stop. This method is very impressive if done right, as it allows for a smaller station platform! 2nd Method is exactly the reason block break sections were invented, to reduce station platform sizes. So the quick answer you were looking for was, stretch the heck out of your station platform on any coaster as long as possible, and you can cram many carts. But it can tend to look ugly. :(
Could you remake this video for Planet Coaster 2? Maybe you could make this a contest where the goal is to make a simple blueprint that illustrates what the coasters should do, and them use them to describe how they work.
What you call the more traditional of the hypercoasters is actually the more modern. The one would be a B & M (modern Swiss) and the other a Arrow Coaster (Older American).
Yeah I suppose that's what I meant. Traditional in the sense that it's pretty standard in all modern parks. I suppose traditional would be something more of tradition, like a wooden coaster. Bah, hopefully everyone understands my crazyness! ;)
Thank you for this man its a massive help u earned a subscribe from me and im defo gonna recommend u to my mates who also play this game ur a life saver keep up the good work :)
Awesome, Glad you enjoyed it! this video took like 20 hours to put together and isn't as popular as some that only took a few hours lol... PS: there is a link in the description to my google drive where you can download 2 different legends to have open as cheat sheets on your other monitor, it really helps when trying to pick that certain coaster you're looking for! :D
OMG that's a great idea Scott! IF you finish it be sure to upload and submit it to me for Park spotlight! I just watched the winter update live stream and I'm suuuuper excited to make a video on it tomorrow~! :D
I started trying to make set pieces today for that park. I never built complex things in the game yet and I am gaining more respect for your skills. The camera OMG. Trying to make a giant sphere for the top of the base turret. So I am going to spend like a day on one piece. And I know they are going to add scaling at some point and it will take 1 sec. I am sure I am preaching to the quire, just wanted to share my added appreciation for your sets.
Thank you scott! Really appreciate that comment! And BTW I've talked about this in other discussions a billion times. I'm 99.9% sure they will NEVER add scaling to the game. I use to work on the unreal engine, and the way these engines handle assets, is that it reads the same asset over and over again a billion times and essentially only computes it once, due to the fact they all use the same properties. Once you add scaling.... Everything becomes unique, and has their own properties. If scaling were added to the game, they would have to reduce park sizes by 10 times..... Making this the new Sim City, which tanked hard.... lol. So yeah, don't get your hopes up on scaling, unless some genius programmer comes along with a whole new game engine upgrade.... :(
18:23 Probably all ages because of the height requirement on the actual model. For example, x2 at Six Flags Magic Mountain has a height requirement of 48 inches, rather than other adult and teen coasters, such as the floorless coaster, which have a height requirement on 54 inches.
No problem! Glad you appreciated it! There is a link to my google drive in description with high quality legends if your interested in the cheat sheet! :D
Amazing job! It must have taken hours 😱 Do you thing you'll do a video on how you built your coasters in order to have good stats (fear,nausea,...) in the next few weeks ? Thanks
But yeah, it's a great idea and something i've been thinking about. As well as a tips and tricks 2. But these guides need to become low priority due too popularity. But it's on my mind and on the check list! I'm trying to keep everyone happy! :D
Yeah I understand... thanks for answering ! 😊 It really sucks that this hard working stuff isn't getting the views it should get ! But keep up the good work man. (Sorry if I make English mistakes, not my 1st language 😉)
No worries brother! And I answer too all comments, so feel free to comment anytime! Just tell you're friends! If I can get all my videos popular I will make everything and anything requested! What's your primary language? I seem to get a good handful of my fellow German brothers. Although I can't speak German, i'm first generation Canadian. >
Nice video, really helpfull, but with a small mistake: Tiamat Can Invert, what in my opinion should give it a unique tag ;) I noticed it's a 2 year old video, so idk if frontier may have changed it in the recent past. Thank you!
I bought the game after finally getting a strong enough computer- I miss the categorization of the RCT games. As much of a coaster nerd I am- I miss the simple explanations RCT has in the ride descriptions. All the specific names on the Planet Coaster descriptions sort of confuse me even if I know the real life coasters.
Here's a tip, split the audio of you talking from the video, so when you make "um uh" jump cuts out you don't jump the video at the same time, you can add in the jump cuts later to synchronize those moments where you point something out. Video Jump cuts are jarring, many video jump cuts is headache inducing.
Ok so watched the video which was good but you got some stuff wrong don't take this the wrong way though i love your videos . here we go! What you call "carts" are actually called trains. You mentioned that dive coasters can't take as many people as others when really there people eaters, also you said that they where light which is very untrue they have massive train width and also giant track. Woodies are not family coasters I mean they can be but so can all coaster types most modern woodies are really intense. The torque coaster is not "the king of inverting coasters that would be the floor-less and its not a launched lift hill coaster is just a launch coaster. The hybrids do do diffrent things the topper track tends to have less inversions and more airtime but the full steel rails have more inversions and air-time. Well that's the end to this rant please don't take this as hate its more like constructive criticism from an coaster enthusiast. Also how is the b&m giga diffrent to the intamin giga?
Oh yea the "hanging coasters are called suspended coasters and flying coasters don't really fit that well into that category. Lap bars are fine for inverting as well.
You should do an updated version of this video, it'd very informative, specially for beginners.
Straightbanana yep same
Same!! My only problem is what do I want! I don’t know what what I want to build!
The problem about being a coaster nerd is that when you try to make a recreation of your favorite coasters they always end up being too intense for guests.
I absolutely suck eggs at scenery
I hope people are always telling you what a great guy you are. The work you've done to promote Planet Coaster and assist this community are nothing short of superhero-ish. 3:23 dive coaster trains are some of the heaviest out there
I said the same thing. He also said “the track has that traditional corkscrew design” that’s B&M, not Vekoma/Arrow
This is really impressive. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! I just took a 20 hour nap after making that, lol. Good to wake up to some nice comments! :)
Seriously thank you.

You should revise the guide to include the coasters from the Spring and Summer Updates of the game. You should also add a guide for every flat ride and track ride in the game.
Thank you, for the breakdown of coaster types. This was 4 years ago. So, I just screenshotted it, on my phone. Lol!
Hyper coasters are all about air time not big over banks
Thanks for the tip Nerdy Elephant! :)
Well some have banks and stuff, like Mako at Sea World Orlando with the over banked turn right off the main drop
Some are, for example goliath at magic mountain and Skyrush at Hershey park
YOSHI YO goliath is pretty hated though.
Wisconsin Thrills so are gigas.

Update the video to include new coasters! And separate DLC coasters
amazing video again, awesome work
WoW that video was so freakin good i just watched it completely :D
LIKE!
btw it helped me alot :d ty
Really glad it helped you, I put a lot of work into it hoping that it would help people. So hopefully it gets some more views! :D Thanks for liking!
can you make a tutorial about the stats how to improve them? :3

Channel5 Gaming great videos btw. They're some of my favourite for Planet Coaster right now
Awesome! Thank you very much, i'm glad you're enjoying them! Please be sure to tell your friends!
Same here, and a few others would be intamin and mack for a few of the rides
Thank you Alex! I'll be sure to put looking into those TH-camrs on my never ending todo list! ;)
Equalizer reminds of Cedar Point’s Magnum XL 2000 so much
update this to include perfect designs, all new DLC (separated from vanilla) coasters plus guides to building! and use blueprints if necesarry
Your work is awesome!!! thanks to share with us! I just bought this game and now i understand better coasters! subbed :)
Awesome! Glad to have you here!
Such an awesome and helpful tutorial. Glad I stumbled upon this
Thank you for this man its a massive help u earned a subscribe from me and im defo gonna recommend u to my mates who also play this game ur a life saver keep up the good work :)
Now all these coasters make sense! Thanks so much! Now if you excuse me I'm going to make a dive coaster!
Brilliant video! Might I also suggest the Planet Coaster College channel for further in-depth look per type?
With the new winter them and your sci fi pieces I am going to make a planet Hoth park.
OMG that's a great idea Scott! IF you finish it be sure to upload and submit it to me for Park spotlight! I just watched the winter update live stream and I'm suuuuper excited to make a video on it tomorrow~! :D
Will do. I Just watched it as well. I am exited for the management tweaks and flower bed customization.
xD Mee too! I'll be sure to cover it all in tomorrows video!
Making this the new Sim City, which tanked hard.... lol. So yeah, don't get your hopes up on scaling, unless some genius programmer comes along with a whole new game engine upgrade.... :(
can you make an updated version of this?
Can u do all the inversions in the game breakdown and the non inverting loops too please thank you
Would love an updated video
i like how the design of the first hyper coasters trains are just like Goliath's at Magic Mountain
Great video!
18:23 Probably all ages because of the height requirement on the actual model. For example, x2 at Six Flags Magic Mountain has a height requirement of 48 inches, rather than other adult and teen coasters, such as the floorless coaster, which have a height requirement on 54 inches.
great guide, the two giga coasters and how the unique element on one was confused with the other did screw me up though... But great video overall.
are you going to do an updated version after the April patch
So I’m curious. Is this what’s in the base game Console Edition?
Prototype wing Brake drop ?
Awesome video, thank you so much! !
Why couldn’t speed coasters invert?
you are crazy :D thanks a lot!
and you were building already smoother coasters then in the lotr park 😁
Bahhaha, that's hilarious! And I suppose I am crazy, share with your friends! Let's get this crazy train going! :D
This is incredible. Thank you
Thanks for the hard work ! Printed.
No problem! Glad you appreciated it! There is a link to my google drive in description with high quality legends if your interested in the cheat sheet! :D
Thank you so much for this!
Amazing job! It must have taken hours 😱 Do you thing you'll do a video on how you built your coasters in order to have good stats (fear,nausea,...) in the next few weeks ? Thanks
Someone else already requested that. It's nice to get these requests, however no one seems to be watching my guides compared to my other videos >
not to mentioned 3 dislikes on a 20 hour projects like this.... lol fawkers!
Thank you!
If You Use Tiamat And Turn The Train Into The Invincible Style, You Can Make A Modern Giga Coaster. I Used This To Create Intimidator 305.
The flying one has 4 per row..,
:O What did i say?
U said 5 xD. Btw love ur content
Thanks, and I think it is 5?! Pretty sure that's the one i looked closer and saw 5 when i original said 4 and had to edit it. :O
The flying coaster only has 4 per row
I appreciate you!
23:45 that is not true
This vid is supper GP
Great job
Thanks! :D
What about the DLC
This guy is GP, right?
yeah, he mentioned in a comment thread above that he has only ridden like 2 coasters.
************* Brilliant, super helpful, subbed thanks!.
Dive athon is actually in the classification of Dive Coaster
Thank you for this
I bought the game after finally getting a strong enough computer- I miss the categorization of the RCT games. As much of a coaster nerd I am- I miss the simple explanations RCT has in the ride descriptions. All the specific names on the Planet Coaster descriptions sort of confuse me even if I know the real life coasters.
hye i'm a love your video. Why every time that is so difficult to make the coaster that peps can ride that have balance of Fear / Experiment and Fear.
You actually divide the coasters by height
Lol, what? Not sure what video you watched. height didn't have anything to do with it? : /
fire video
An updatet version would be nice. And don't begg for likes the video is good enough to get liked.
invincible is for all ages you said it was adults and teens only
Good Video
Here's a tip, split the audio of you talking from the video, so when you make "um uh" jump cuts out you don't jump the video at the same time, you can add in the jump cuts later to synchronize those moments where you point something out. Video Jump cuts are jarring, many video jump cuts is headache inducing.
yeah i do that now, this videos old. ;)
love you dude
is it me or are some of the coasters glowing?
THANK YOU
Ok so watched the video which was good but you got some stuff wrong don't take this the wrong way though i love your videos .
Roller coasters are for everyone!
Great but all of them drop straight down which it unrealistic
Damn, do you ever sleep?
The monster can have up to 10 cars per train
why yes
I no longer feel safe on a roller coaster!
Someone count how many times he says coasters
😀
This hurts me because 75 percent of this information is not true
This made me cringe so much
your roller coasters make me want to die. they are HORRIBLE
invincible is for all ages you said it was adults and teens only
