Beautiful reel. I still have the first, original Shimano Calcutta reels put out...over 30 years old now. The only thing I've ever replaced was drag washers from loads of big fish ripping line off the spool. These reels, like those before them, are durable and will stand the test of time.
This iteration of the Conquest in the 200/201 size makes an excellent choice for magnum sized crankbaits (2 oz) like the StrikeKing 6,8,10xds as well as those Megabass big m's.
Is this new Calcutta Conquest the same as the 2018 version just in a smaller size. And if not was is the difference between the 300, 400 and the new 100,200
Hello, is the size of the body on the 100 and 200 the same? I want to get one but I can't decide which due to size. I'd rather have the 200 since I fish inshore but I want the 100 size to fish lightgear for trout
i have a Calcutta Conquest 20HG DC love it.. thinking of a 300 size ..you think DC helps on 300+ size? dont really see a 300 size DC not sure if if would even make sense on 300+ sizes since its uses bigger heavy lures more easy to control unlike a 100 , 200 where you use smaller weight lures where a DC can help
I am very interested in these reels! Is the diameter of the 100 and the 200 size reels palming side plates the same? I think I understand the size difference to be in the width of each reels spool. Is that correct?
Nice infoman !!! I'm keen on buying the new 100 size for mid Swimbaits (max 3oz) I don't need cast long distance so I don't need a lot of capacity. Do you think 100 size would works ? I like so much those 220grams....
i would think the 200 size is better no swimbait guy is throwing 100 sized reels cause of the gears and just no i would get the 200 just saying and plus if you wanna bomb a bait you will have little line capacity
Not sure. They may make it for other markets but for North America only the 200 and 201 were released. Could be sales numbers dictating models brought to market.

DC would help controlling lures on the lower weight scale. If you are planning to use bigger heavier lures there is no point getting DC

I would want a larger reel for a bait that size. The power and torque of the reel isn't the issue... The line capacity would be the problem.
