Part of me wants this very niche game to get bigger, get more budget and improve even more. But then I look at these videos and read the reactions and even the negative ones are written in a polite manner and don't want to see the game fail. Just wanted to say that, this game has such a chill fanbase that is refreshing to see.

With how often we get attacked by Ravagers, you'd think every city block would have a goddamn laser cannon for defense by now.
This looks like a reboot since no one seems to know what any of the Ravagers are. So at least that makes sense.
Like Xian said, this is a reboot which is pretty nice because i feel like the Ravagers had their good share throughout the series. Its good to be fighting something a bit different and have the fresh feeling of of alien invaders attacking earth for the first time again instead of it just being a squeal like 4.1 (not that the story for EDF 4.1 was bad for an edf game)
It would be pretty hard to create a believable sequel to 4.1, since 4.1 ends with the human race being nearly slaughtered to extinction.
Storm team would still beat all the aliens, with their infinite ammo and recklessness (half of the world was destroyed by bugs, the other half by a couple of troops overly enthusiastic about their new explosive weapon).
Seems like a clean start though - after EDF 2017 and 2025 (... 4.1), humans wouldn't be oblivious to bug aliens.

I would take Earth Defense Force over Call of Duty/Battlefield/Sniper Elite any day.
At least with Earth Defense Force you get to blast giant bugs and blood goes everywhere with the giant creatures decapitated bodies.
Reminds me so much of another 3rd person space shooter called Jet Force Gemini on the N64.
Closest thing to RARE's Jet Force Gemini if they continued to make sequels.
But for those gamers who never had consoles in the past, I highly recommend Earth Defense Force if you wanted to play a different type of shooter.

Valet im honestly happy they changed it. When i first read the translation i was like really? Ill be shooting down hordes of immigrants? I dont want no politics in my EDF xD

Likely not the same aliens from EDF 2017 and 2025 (ported to 4.1), but regardless you're the hero we deserve but not the one we need right now. The hero we need is the one who'll port this to PC.

I really, Really hope that the air raider makes a return because they are one of my favorite classes to play as plus being able to pilot the new vehicles they made would be awesome. the air raider can play a very important role when it comes to support and can turn the tide of battle.

Considering they've brought out an English trailer and a Japanese trailer, this could mean we're getting the game at the same time as Japan!
Just got my physical copy on PS4 with English. I love this series, but they need to add English subtitles in all remastered games too.

I love that this game series exists, and I have fun with it, but it KILLS me that the controls are so bare boned.
I feel like if they add an 'over the shoulder focus' button along with a 180 turn button it would make the controls 1000x better.
the lack of Air Raiders worries me.

I know they're a small budget developer, but I do hope they improve the controls on alot of the vehicles. I liked the concept of some of them in 4.1/2025, but they just handled like shit so it was unappealing for me to use them.

Im pretty sure they would continue to improve and add to the engine over time. Is it going to be drastic changes? no but in edf 4.1 they added dynamic lighting and etc so they must have been improving it slowly over time.
What they sacrifice in graphics quality they make up for in MASS CARNAGE! Plus majority of their sales are on console soooo...
If the series had the graphical that any current games have it would run like shit due to the large hordes of enemies, they sacrifice great looks for a stable game.
