So I was a teenager when this came out in the 80s, and yes everyone was amazed that this was really his voice. But he was such a big hit and he really did have an amazing voice. He was 21 years old when they recorded this video and they recorded it at an apartment building. He even wore his own clothes since the video was shot so cheaply. The iconic trench coat that he wore was stolen right off his back in a crowd of fans that mobbed him shortly after he became so famous. Some of his other songs are so good too. The thing that makes me sad about reactions like this though, is that your generation only see's things as great as this as memes. That is what your generation has been reduced to actually...just a meme.
