Growing up in the hood especially South Central Los Angeles in the '80s and '90s We didn't stay in the house too much watching TV cuz we had tons of entertainment right outside That's why this movie was so realistic to a lot of people because that exactly what the f*** we experience in one day just sitting outside You will see the most craziest s*** that you ever see in your life

A hood classic! I grew up with this and Don't Be A Menace. I still regularly quote this movie to this day. Funny thing is I was just watching Reel Rejects and BOOM, you uploaded this, hahaha

Ice Cube's had a lot of fun movies! I remember seeing somewhere in an interview that the reason why he made Friday was because he didn't want everybody to think growing up in their neighborhood was like Boyz in the Hood all the time. So he made Friday to show more of the good times and funnier times they grew up having. Then he made "Are We There Yet" (which is another good one you guys should check out if you haven't already) for a more younger audience because he didn't want kids coming up to him quoting certain things from the Friday movies. The other Friday movies are good but not like the first one. I personally like the 2nd one the least and the 3rd one is a pretty funny Christmas themed movie.

I'm pretty sure you didn't get the "Zeus" middle name for Tiny Lister in the credits. Back in 1989 Tiny Lister had a small stint with the WWF. He did a movie with Hulk Hogan called No Hold's Barred in which he played the character of Zeus, The Human Wrecking Machine. Shortly after the WWF did an angle with Lister and Hogan, playing of a real life rivalry and dubbed it as 'Life Imitating Art'. And they fought each other in a tag team match at Summer Slam '89 and his partner was Macho Man Randy Savage. And this was Savage in his prime. Anyway this movie was six years after and I guess he was still trying to play off his wrestling moniker at the time.
I loved his character in "The 5th Element." Which also has Chris Tucker.
This is the best way to describe how we grew up in the hood I experienced all these elements if not definitely saw them also
I've been smoking weed for 35 yrs now and believe me, some of the best weed I smoked was in the mid 90's. I would smoke a little pinner and get wrecked for 4hrs, I watched a whole western movie once just starring at my desk. Ahh those were the good ol days.

I was 15 years old when I saw this in theaters ( opening weekend, spring break ‘95) to a packed(all black), absolutely bonkers crowd and we laughed our asses off!

@CinePals PLEASE DO THE SECOND AND THIRD FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!! The second one is incredible (though it lacks Chris Tucker it still is great even better than the first). And the 3rd is a Christmas movie which is actually really funny too.
