    Regarding storage: I'm positive the Switch 2 will support MicroSDs just like Switch 1. A couple months ago SAMSUNG made the headlines due to their new Express MicroSDs that were developed in collaboration with an undisclosed "console manufacturer". The Express MicroSDs feature faster loading, probably to accomodate the necessity of Switch 2.

      @Professor_Poots
      I don't think that will happen. If I remember correctly, that has never happened before. The project code names have leaked before (the Wii U leaked as Project Cafe and the Switch OLED leaked as Project Aula) but I don't think a Nintendo console has ever had its actual name leaked ahead of an official announcement.
      In fact, I remember Gamexplain interviewed one of the actors that appeared in the original Nintendo Switch reveal trailer, and that guy even said he was googling "Nintendo Switch" for weeks leading up to the reveal because he wanted to see if the name leaked, but he said each time he tried, Google would give him barely any results because back then, "Nintendo Switch" wasn't even a term indexed by Google yet. So yeah, even back then, the name never leaked.
      Judging by past events, it seems only a small handful of people actually get to know the product name early on. Like, even with the Switch; when Eurogamer leaked exactly what the console was and how it looked and worked, they still kept calling it the NX. They even said the leaker who gave them that info just kept calling it NX. Hell, even the manufacturer leaks from China who knew what the hardware itself looked like...kept calling it the NX. The name "Nintendo Switch" seems like it was being REALLY protected, up until just before the reveal.
      @Dairunt1
      It could potentially happen this time, since Pyoro already outright said the way he gets all his info is because he has sources who can see unlisted TH-cam videos.
      However since he already publicly stated that, Nintendo might throw a curveball by either not having the trailer uploaded to their TH-cam channel until the day it actually goes up, or by titling the video something that doesn't reveal anything, like "First Look at the next Nintendo Switch" or something similar.

    They're not going to repackage games just for enhanced performance. That's not only the least Nintendo thing they could do, but it takes away from potentially one of the biggest draws of the Switch 2, especially as an upgrade for people who already own the Switch. These things should and likely would be enabled natively. I think Nintendo understands that the message of, "hey, your favorite Switch games are better on Switch 2" is way too valuable to pass up. The upgrade fee is a different conversation though. I could see that happening for special cases with more radical changes.
    Repackaging would also require adding new content to justify buying the same game all over again, which would cut into development for brand new games and probably wouldn't even work as a strategy.

And with DLSS being a thing, it might mean we’ll also get some PS5 ports as well, and so it overall sounds like a major and promising next step when it comes to Nintendo’s tech. And it’ll hopefully mean we see plenty more current third-party games for it as well, and definitely *not* those horrendous cloud versions.

      One of Nintendo's favorite upgrades to existing technology is a CPU performance boost.
      It was the first thing they focused on in SNES co-processors. The GBC and Wii were practically two older CPUs duct taped together. The New 3DS and Switch were bare minimum performance upgrades that still made things easier for themselves and their favorite second and third parties.

Noting, Saves use internal storage only. I still think it will have SD or MicroSD, just because the tech on those cards, and the high capacity of these cards, for a small enough price, just keeps improving. So in a way, the 3rd party card tech might be leaned on for the next 8 years. Which they’re kind of reliable for improving over that time. They won’t be stagnant.

    It seems like they allow more games on their eshop (for better or worse).
    So if they wanna embrace the voice chat and online forum boards and all around more communication features they could very well do so.
    They just have to make sure to allow these features to be restricted in the parental controls.
    Then they can just say that it's up to the parents to make sure that their kids have limited access to these features through the parental settings.

    The GPU specs alone seem to indicate it might be similar to PS4 Pro/Xbox Series S specs. Couple it with DLSS and you've got better visual resolution without sacrificing performance. Many of those games strive for 1440p on their respective consoles in quality modes. So it's possible Switch might either take the performance gains instead of the visual gains and keep DLSS enabled to make it look 1440p on a 4k screens. Which would still be a huge improvement over 1080p or lower.
    My only issue with this is that for older games Nintendo will 100% lock game upgrades behind a paywall or subscription service. So if you want Breath of the Wild in 4k, you're probably gonna have to pay up for it. I doubt we'll see many, if any, first party next-gen upgrades for free.

Even though it was next to the TV making loud shooty sounds and “double kill” voice snippets, it did a great job of sound isolating our voices. I think that the mic being attached to the console in the dock next to the TV isn’t all that bad.
    Especially since Nintendo likes those kind of weird engineering things. The company that created the Switch with a seemless docking/undocking and Joycon attach/detach system, the same Nintendo who worked with Pokémon Co to create the best most accurate step counter to date, to put software development cycles I nto an even better version of the voice isolation system the Kinect had.

UHS-II cards have been around for a while and have transfer speeds up to 300 Mbyte/s (UHS-III is specified for ~600Mbyte/s, but according to Wikipedia there are no cards on the market yet), and the newer SD-Express standard can go to ~1GByte/s and beyond. If they add a card reader that supports UHS-III or SD-Express (can't have both since they use the same pins for different features/protocols) the user would have the choice of either getting an expensive but blazingly fast card or the usual semi-fast but cheap U1 cards.

Its guaranteed to be heavier at that point and my fucked up joints are already screaming when I am playing handheld just due to having to hold up such a bulky device. I hope they arent just making it bigger for the sake of it and are keeping the actual weight in mind as well...

    If the screen is 1080p and it’s backwards compatible, playing the docked version of og switch games in handheld mode would be awesome. Would make a big difference in a lot of games. Like bowsers fury is only 60fps on docked mode, and Mario odyssey looks much better

    The Switch is the best selling console ever, and still selling huge amounts in its seventh year, and that is without voice-chat or extensive social media features. Nintendo even removed some social media features from Switch OS (twitter) recently. So Nintendo will not put priority on those features or waste much (of costly) RAM for that.
    MicroSD can be very fast if they built a proper fast connector in the Switch2 it will be fast enough for all kinds of game streaming, without the need for SSD.

    You guys forget, OLED can come back with screen burn-in or lines later on. I'm perfectly content with LCD considering a lot of the better gaming monitors use epic LCD panels.
    Sharp (being a Japanese company also) could provide these panels and, if the Razer Phone 2 were any indication, they still look GORGEOUS.

    I wanted to say that MicroSD Express could be an option. it's way faster than standard MicroSD.... im pretty sure it's faster than the original Switch's internal storage, but if specs are true... still wouldnt be as fast as the switch 2 storage... so idk. Also idk how viable MicroSD Express is atm because its still virtually unavailable on the marketplace

      this time it’s an even bigger jump in power, it’s not too far behind current gen (not that it matters since no game is even close to pushing the PS5 to its limit so far) and it’s only a few years after this gen started.

    If it's backwards compatible I'll get one. I really hope it comes with an M.2 slot even if it's just mSATA. I hope we get magnetic joysticks instead of ones that are prone to drift. A second OLED model should also include more storage. Software wise I really hope we get normal voice chat, a functional browser, Street Pass needs to make a return. Ideally they could launch with Mario Kart 9, a new Mario game, maybe use the Link's Awakening remake engine to do remakes of the 2 Oracle games (though that could also come out on the OG Switch too).

    OLED is a nice to have feature rather than a must have, for me. If there’s an option, I will likely get it. I can’t see them using anything other than Micro SD for space and cost. I don’t want it to be much bigger than the current OLED model but if they’re going for 1080p in handheld then it does need to be a little bigger. But if it is bigger then what does that mean for the Joy Con?

  • @Nobody-sp7ug
    @Nobody-sp7ug 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    One important thi g to note about dlss, it will NOT improve textures, or asset quality, in any way. Quite the opposite it will very accurately capture how low quality your textures are. This is why nvidia suggests you use textures suited for the output resolution of dlss rather than the input resolution.
    That being said there is one peoce of information related to storage speed missed here, and that is that t239 has a dedicated file decompression engine. So it can move heavily decompressed assets through that storage bandwidth and decompress them on the fly with a dedicated processor at no impact to cpu.
    So the switch 2 can move large assets like high res textures, dlss needs high res textures, so far so good...... but it's whammy time.
    You listed the standard render config for an ampere processor, going by individual SM, thats 128 fp32 cuda cores, 4 tensor cores (128 fp16) 1 rt cores per sm. Yup that's ampere. That also includes 4 tmu's, texture mapper units. So in total for all 12 sm the switch 2 will have 48 TMU's.
    Xbox series s has 80.

    I really don't foresee Nintendo going through their back catalog of Switch games and updating them to run better on the new system. I'd love to be wrong, but I don't see much profit in doing so. They would much rather us buy new releases than to keep playing our old stuff anyway.

  • @weebsquit347

    While an LCD screen is a downgrade, i wouldn't say it's fully a bad thing.
    In the world of smartphones at least, LCD screens have improved a lot. Colors are much more vibrant and great looking.
    I got a look at the Redmi Note 11T Pro in person a good while back, and I was pretty impressed with its LCD screen.
    And I'm in the small camp, but as much as i love and prefer an OLED screen, Burn in is always a worry of mine. I live in a place that's usually hot, which increases the chance of OLED burn in, so i usually use it at home only. I'm probably over worrying since my phone hasn't had OLED screen burn in, but it's still something i think about often.
