    appreciate your honest review. coincidentally i'm interested in this bike and the cfmoto 800NK advanced, which has the things you say the 8S should have, a steering damper, more HP, and adjustable suspension. i haven't had a test ride on them yet, only sat on them, but the NK felt significantly lighter and more compact.

      @@TheBigOh ok i test rode both and opted for the 8S. granted, i tried the 800NK sport which is missing the extra tech i mentioned, but i don't think the ride would be much different. the 8S just felt smoother to ride with a less jerky throttle.
      with the 800NK i had to use a lot of throttle at traffic lights while slowly releasing the clutch and i still stalled it like 3 times. with the 8S, a touch is fine. never stalled it.
      considered the MT-09 if you're after HP? that thing is a beast. seen a drag race against the 8S and it easily won.

      @@donderstorm1845I hope you enjoy the bike. I really think it has potential. What I like about the MT09 is that it has the power and suspension that I like but it doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the 8S/R

    Have you set the rear preload for your weight? I have done nearly 15000 miles on my 8S, I commute on it, I have toured the Isle of Man on it (ridden the mountain course where there is no speed limit) also there’s a fast group that I ride with on a weekend and on the twisty roads in the UK I am with them and even faster than a good few of them (GSXR1000s, s1000rr, CBR1000’s etc..The only mods that I have done is adjust the rear preload for my weight and lowered the front triple clamp 5mm as I like to push the front. The 8S can carry more speed through the corners,turn in quicker and punch out earlier due to its lesser power and lighter weight. Ride the bike to its advantages and you’ll see the bike in a whole new light!

      @TheBigOh  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@deanskirrow So the only thing I did was increase the preload in the rear. I am looking to upgrade the suspension on the bike which inludes lowering the front. I found no need for a steering damper coz my bike tracks really well through the twisties, even with hands-off - Is it possible the handle bars, are being gripped too tight, maybe ?

    Suzuki came up with a bike that can be marketed anywhere, and had to comply to the new EU5 regulations, so as a replacement to the gsx 750s's inline 4 they had to go with a parallel twin like every single bike in the segment. Also most reviews specify that the bike has plenty of torque at low & mid RPM, but lacks grunt at higher RPM.
    Even then, the chassis and the way the bike corners and has all the necessary torque at low & mid makes it a naked street fighter in my humble opinion, unless you're trying to compete with higher HP sportsbikes.
    The engine has plenty of untapped power so Just do an ECU flash stage 1 and if still need more horse power slap on a full line with exhaust Yoshi or Arrow and change the filter. Problem solved.
    As for suspension, suzuki went with other options I guess, like the traction controls & quickshifter, the MT07 does not have any of those and the Duke 790 is manufactured in China, there's no telling how good that bike will hold over time + you have to pay extra to have the same specs as the 8S as for the MT-09 that's way more expensive and not on the same segment.

      @@JinZuS1st of all, I hope you're not some shill but if you're not, I appreciate the discourse Most reviews of the bike are from single rides or single track days by access media, my review is of a bike I own and purchased myself, put 1000+ miles on (at the time of review) and plan on making the bike I wanted. I was looking at a few bikes and I bought the 8S based off the reviews that called the 8S the next road scalpel and praised its engine (which is amazing and has great potential, the aftermarket is going to get it to at least 110whp by next season). So when it lacked the damper and adjustable suspension I thought hey I guess everything was sorted out from the factory. I was not expecting a S1000RR or even an R1. I was expecting something that I can ride fast and take turns hard when I wanted, like my older GSX R600. But it was not the case, the 8S did not give me much confidence when I first got it. So my review is based on the reviews I watched before I bought it and my experience after. I know what the bike is and isn't after riding it for approx 2800 miles and 5 months. For people to say after almost 2 years of the GSX 8S being released that its not the type of bike they marketed and reviewed as and its just a bike for (x) segment is odd to me, almost if they were waiting for the 8S/R to be homologated for the twin cup.

    The classic case of not getting something that would dovetail with your expectations.
    GSX-8S is not a "commuter bike." It's 18 horsepower greater than the MT-07 which isn't considered a "commuter bike."
    Suzuki doesn't rush anything to market for racing or otherwise. This engine is a ultimately a further development from the formerly proposed 588 turbo Suzuki had teased years back. Also it was planned for a street bike and V-Strom model (800/DE) which is now released. This stuff takes many years of planning and development in advance.
    The aftermarket has responded in a hurry because it's a great package for development.
    Yoshi, Akra, SC, M4, Mivv, Leo, Arrow, Lextec, IXIL, Hindle, Dominator, Black Widow all have exhausts for this.
    Sprint, K&N, DNA all have filters.
    Vcyclenut, 2WDW have flashes
    Veridian has a cruise control
    TST Industries has velocity stacks
    All the mods can gain you ~12 horsepower and ~9 ft-lb at the wheel.
    Vance & Hines have race cams and other race parts
    Evotech has a great tail tidy, many other brands avail.
    Soon there will be aftermarket seat upgrades.
    Suspension is available from Andreani, with Nitron fork cartridges and Nitron rear shock.
    Bellissimoto has Matris rear shock and Matris steering damper.

    • @TheBigOh
      @TheBigOh  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@exothermal.sprocket its 100% a commuter bike as seen by its marshmallow suspension, lack of steering damper etc. It will be like the SV650, a regular commuter bike, that the aftermarket/enthusiasts (like me) will turn in to track bikes or street scalpels. Also, 12hp extra is not impressive when the KTM 790 is making 100hp from the factory. With mods the KTM will make 4 cyl 600cc hp with twin cyclinder torque.
      Thirdly, I have already started upgrading the bike, I have a steering damper from Matris coming straight from Italy, I plan on upgrading the suspension with Nitron springs and rear suspension. This was a 1000 mile review. If you can stand to watch more, you should watch the video called "its kind of growing on me"

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheBigOh One man's COMMUTER bike is another man's intimidating rocket.
      What do you weigh? 250 pounds? All motorcycles are designed with a particular weight individual in mind. These aren't cars, where anyone from 120 pounds to 300 pounds doesn't affect suspension one way or another.
      For the price point, they had to choose something. Suzuki does it better than Yamaha has historically, in this price range. Suspension might be too soft for one rider, and just right for another. Nothing inherently wrong with the "bones". It's USD forks, radial brakes, linked monoshock, stout chassis. If you want full adj suspension with stiffer springs, a GSX-R750 would get that for you (along with a lighter bank account).
      Again, what are people's expectations honestly? I've read so much negative press from social media about these bikes I'm flat sick of it. It's so misled and immature.
      I bet after some time down the road, Suzuki will release something new again, and everyone will cry about that, and say the 8R was such a great machine by comparison. Then another decade will pass and Suzuki will release something new and everyone will cry about that, saying that the last thing (that they cried about) was such a great bike.
      It's like musicians releasing albums, the crowds hate the new album and refer to the last album (that they also hated when it was new).

      I've owned stuff from 650 twins to 170 horsepower fours. Currently a 850 triple. I've gone back and forth. I don't find any factory bike in factory form (sub-11 grand or so) to be acceptable in factory form. There are aftermarket upgrades for suspension and exhaust and tuning that usually needs to be done to coax out the goodness baked in. Take some experience and maturity to recognize the potential of a machine before taking possession of it, and also after riding it. There are few bikes these days I don't see as being great, no matter how many bolt ons and tunes. Most have a lot of merit, for the right kind of person. It's the people who buy stuff and moan and whine, and disparage a particular bike for it's shortcomings, and I think, why did you buy the wrong machine? Your expectations are fine dining, and you dropped into Arbys!

      @@exothermal.sprocket You have to understand, I am not a new rider. I didn' buy this bike on a whim, I bought it after watching glowing reviews on TH-cam. The only youtube review that called it a commuter bike is TST. Unfortunately I saw that after I bought it. All of the other reviews called it spectacular and a road scalpel. If I didn't appreciate the bike I would have sold it and bought the MT09. Hopefully by next season, I will unveil the version of the bike, I think Suzuki should have made. With track videos and reviews of the mods I made to the bike.

Anyone who rides these hard knows it needs more power. If you have this bike and its not your first street legal bike you might agree with me. Upshifting seems fine, I haven't really downshifted it with the quickshifter. I will test it tomorrow to see how it works and I'll ket you know.
