    I did this to the BF which had a pathetic plastic attempt of a heat exchanger to side of trans. Binned this half ass idea,

    I am in WA. I had the air-cooler for 4 years. I have done around 80k with the cooler. Mine is 6 speed ZF... Cold fluid isn't the problem. Heat is the killer of clutch fibers. It also decreases the life of the fluid. Take it easy while driving for 10-15 minutes... It will be within the operating temperature.

      I was told that the PWR heat exchanger is just as good because I own a F6 typhoon and I have a big intercooler and there's no room for the air cooler I haven't seen any videos on TH-cam on PWR heat exchangers

    • @michaellast1385
      @michaellast1385 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GOKHANDILEK I'm not 100% sure. I bypassed the heater/cooler on my 4 speed and after that was talking about what I did to some mechanics. During the conversation they said "thats the good thing about the 4 speeds, you can do that" then they said "you can't or shouldn't do it to 6 speeds".. 2 mechanics told me the exact same thing. Maybe the 6 speeds have a thermostat type mechanism or some type of check valve and the extra cooling of the oil air cooler causes it to close too much, have no idea, just saying that 2 mechanics told me not to do it on the 6 speeds. But the mechanics and I were only talking about transmissions cooled by a heater/cooler (remote cooler/warmer) not transmissions cooled by the radiator.

    last xr6 got a case of the pink milkshake wasn't worth saving priced at over 2k for new trans and clutch, not including the damage potentially done to engine, and after talking to many mechanics you can never get rid of the smell from the heater. great tutorial was wondering where one could be mounted and after seeing how simple it is to do, given me the confidence to do it myself on latest XR- rather than paying some overpriced mechanic- before it happens again.

      Appreciate it mate, but no sharp edges there and hose clamped to the fitting/p clamped to chassis close either side so not a great deal of movement at all. One or more solutions are discussed and shown in this thread here, if you already have the kit it appears it can possibly still be used or a BF kit is also mentioned and may be an option. • @michaellast1385

    wouldn't when you turn off the engine, gravity push transmission fluid down the cooler, pushing it back through the cooler lines and into your transmission. What I mean is, once the car is off, the cooler empties back into the transmission and when you check the levol of the transmission fluid you will be getting an incorrect level, then once you start the car it would need to refill the transmission cooler. Also, which line is out and in on the transmission because if you have hot fluid out of the transmission then go to the bottom of the cooler, then the top of the cooler returns to the transmission, wouldn't the gravity cause strain on the pump?

    • @BrowneysGarage

      No sorry, pretty sure the 6 speeds don’t use the radiator but a seperate heat exchanger. Can still have a similar issue but seems much less prone to it from what I’ve seen.
      Believe PWR do have a kit for this as well though so may be worth looking into.

    What about the "Heat Transfer" delete on the side of the trans?

    • @BrowneysGarage
      @BrowneysGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The BA's didn't have the heat exchanger, believe these started in BF and into FG, you'll have one or the other but not both fitted. If you have a heat exchanger model they do sell a kit to suit as well that replaces this heat exchanger. Or some people have deleted this all together, grabbed the hard lines from a BA to run up to the front and use this trans cooler kit, both seem like good upgrades.

      I have a aeroflow 10 row trans cooler on my standard fg g6e turbo 270kw, works a treat, sits in front of the intercooler but doesnt seem to effect the performance, you do have to make a bracket and get elbows and fittings and braided hose, so I spent the money to get rid of a headache befor it became a migraine, nz$740 fitted aeroflow is good ausie quality gear, no leaks and installed by a very good mechanic

    • @BrowneysGarage
      @BrowneysGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe as long as it has the trans cooler in the radiator as with the BA then it will be the same. If it has the later cooler/heat transfer unit that is completely seperate then you may still be able to use it but won’t be as straight forward, haven’t done it myself so couldn’t tell you exactly.
      Good luck and thanks for watching 👍

    Would this suit a BA XR6T

    • @BrowneysGarage
      @BrowneysGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haven't done it but the answer seems to be yes and no. Yes they can fit but this particular kit I don't believe will as the bracket it mounts to won't work with an intercooler. Seems most mount it elsewhere or directly to the radiator/condensor with provided zip ties that come in this and the universal kits.
      Good luck, I'll be tackling this in an upcoming video myself but no time frame on that just yet so that may not be any help!
