All these years, I never knew how Prince created the opening music to this song--I assumed it was some kind of synthesizer. How cool is this to learn that he was doing it all on bass. You got it down perfectly! Definitely one of Prince's most signature bass lines. Awesome job!
Oh yeah BrownMark can Funk it up!! But it was nice the way he did but Mark has a flare and a flavor that even Prince himself said was the best he ever knew . So dont ever put this guy in the same breathe as a member of The Revolution!!! This guy is good NO doubt but stop being disrespectful because of the color of his skin. That's got to be the ONLY reason you'd say something that stupid!!
Wow, most Prince bass covers I find on TH-cam are technically good. But, they lack that “thing” that makes Prince’s baselines so damn funky. You’ve nailed both. You killed it, brother. Nice job!
I've never even heard anyone TRY to play that intro before! And you did it PERFECTLY (and in fact, you play it FUNKIER once the groove kicks in)! Great job!
bro when you do this record all the track... not just a snippet i want to hear all the track and im sure all the rest of the people it will improve your channel
Someone: How many times have you watched this vid? Me: *thinking* Someone: So how many times? Me: Hold on I'm counting in my head. 5 minutes later Someone: You're a weirdo you know that?
You're a bad ass and you nailed it! I been trying to learn this line myself. So 2 questions: 1) what tuning are you using because it seems you're not in standard. 2) how are you getting the sliding sound of the first note without appearing to be actually sliding your fingers on the fretboard?!
Jermaine Rivers hi mate, thanks so much for your comment. I am in standard tuning! The first note is not a slide, I am bending the string down.. that's probably the reason why you can't see that. On that note there is also an Octaver automated on logic!
Yeah man. I really couldn't catch it in the original song, but knew I was missing sumthin'. And I didn't know that B. Mark started off the riff at the beginning of the song. Thanx man

Ohhh My gosh!!! I did tooo!!!!! 🤦🏽♀️Unbelievable!! I thought it was a synthesizer ahh these years!! He got us good!! MAN!!!😮
I thought it him hammering down on guitar fret instead of bass......
Shiiit! Even Brownmark can't f@k with that! That was phenomenal, but waayyy too short! We need a whole song encore!
Hey thanks!! Maybe one day I’ll do the whole song 😅
Oh yeah BrownMark can Funk it up!!

The bass part for 17 days was originally supposed to be used in When Doves Cry. Once you hear it, you see how it would have fit perfectly.

0:11 to the end is the original bass line intended for "When Doves Cry"
GTFO 😮 Where did you find that out from? That's wild, I never heard about that before!
@@leeharrison8222 Why Did Prince Erase This Bass Part From “When Doves Cry?”

Ohhh, I see. Very cool, I'm gonna try it. Thanks Emanuele! "Irresistible Bitch" & "777-9311" also can be tricky. Can you play those also?
Yeah man. I really couldn't catch it in the original song, but knew I was missing sumthin'. And I didn't know that B. Mark started off the riff at the beginning of the song. Thanx man
I got a song I’m producing can I hire you
Sure man, email me emanazzaro@gmail.com :)
Not bad bud.
Thanks bud
Well.....you're no Brown Mark but.....I guess you did OK. 😉
Is this Metallic sparkly balck bass*
Black sparkle ;)
Hey nice job!! Just curious to what kind of strings you’re using in this video...if you remember it.
JP Bassment hey thank you! I guess those where my usual DR Sunbeam 45-105 nickel ;)
Sounds cool and still this isn’t the bassline. The opening was great tho.
Missing Mark Brown's signature, rubble technique.
Sounds like a white boy in a Primus cover band, learned a Prince song...
