    The most Impressive informative lifter video I've ever seen. I just hope the S&S 33-5353 H.P. tappets I just bought are made here in America

    Fueling makes the USA lifter . I put the Fueling HP 4000 in my bike but I should have bought the more costly ones but haven't had a problem.

    If your Harley engine is rattling in any way or knocking(lifters on start) you need to switch oil viscosity. Thicker is not better, oil flow is better. Harley oil will wreck your Harley engine over time.

    This explains a lot of the issues with the newer S&S lifters ever since they went to their “precision” line of tappets… compared directly to chinese lifters they look exactly the same and are noisy as hell when using with heavier (190lb seat pressure) valve springs (quiet with factory rate valve springs).
    Need a recommendation on a better lifter for this setup

    You don’t mention that while there may be only one US manufacturer, companies like S&S, Feuling, Wood, can SPEC their lifters as they choose, and have that one US manufacturer (if that is indeed true) make lifters to their design. Right? Same can actually be done at Chinese manufacturers. Granted I’d prefer US made but a company can spec all aspects of manufacturing to the offshore factories. Metallurgy, internal design, whatever. They’ll build as you spec. Some good stuff can be made offshore if the company is stringent on QC…

      My h.d. dealership recommended fueling over s and s for my cam swap . Replaced the whole cam chest at 56,000 on my 2012 streetglide. Cyclorama 570-2 cams. 98.7 h.p and 116 ftlbs of tourque. Screaming eagle oil pump and cam plate.

      David you are so right they are not cast iron lifters I don't know why I messed up and said that I was trying to refer to the difference between something that is cast and something that is forged thanks for pointing that out hope you enjoyed the video have a great day God-bless.

    Lifters are called cam followers not lifters, duh

    • @tomconner5067
      @tomconner5067 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually they are components of the Valve Train, the cam drive pinion on the crankshaft is the component furthest from the valve, it meshes with the gear so let's say it's actually the cam, directly inline between the valve stem and the cam are (Some engines use spacers correct geometry not here in YouTubia ) a rocker arm. a push rod, hydraulic Tappet, then the cam, the cam mechanically pushes the lifer away from itself, to actuate the valve, overpowering the resistance of the valve spring, which is held fast against the seat by the valve spring, which returns the valve to the closed position at the rate determined by the cam profile, it doesn't pull, therefore it's the caboose in the valve train, the lifter pushes the pushrod, the activation or pushing in a linked linear motion system is the last inline in the relevant direction of that linear motion, the lifter is actually the push rod follower. The drive wheels or a rear wheel drive, follow the front wheels which are being pushed, by the wheels that follow
