Personally, I’m loving the fact that the players are just concentrating on playing the game on game day. No silly or cringe interviews by these media personalities while the bloke who has just slogged it out for 40/80 minutes is trying to catch a breath on the way to the sheds or warming up for the game.
These media guys (including the former player hosts) are so biased. Absolutely astonishing. They’re upset they can’t get all these media interviews with players on game day. The real reason they’re upset seems to be because their media bosses don’t like the fact that they can’t get all the usual player content for their shows/game day coverage.
Finally, Anasta says “wish we could ask the players” then Tallis asked Josh Reynolds at the end of this show whether he supported it and his answer was yes. The look on Tallis and Anasta’s face was priceless.

Precisely. I for one am not at all missing such insightful interviews that invariably go something like: “yeah, you know, it was a game of two halves. They really took it to us, but full credit to the boys, they dug deep, stuck to the plan, and we came away with the two points.”

And the constant barrage from the media about the 400k average wage… do they understand that the NRL is a business and the people who work for this business (the players) deserve a correct percentage of money for the coverage they bring in like every sport in the world. But it ain’t about that, it’s about the other 100+ amendments they want to make that directly affects the players. Both parties are to blame, but it ain’t that hard to get to the table and negotiate!

On this topic Gordie shouldn't comment he was a player that led the last boycott for the daily M. If you watch the full interview Gordie was not well spoken at all and knew none of the facts and made it very personal. He should stick to talking about on field character that he was great at like toughness leadership and turning up week to week. The players have obviously a lifespan in the game, they should be trying to get what they can while they can. Good on them. And re. The holiday stuff, these muppets in the office have no clue what the boys are putting their bodies through on the weekly, of course they should get more time off.

Media doing there job to get the nrl the upper hand, I wonder if that pay check wasn't coming to them from the companies being shut out would they still sing the same tune... Do your thang players and get what you want out of this deal. Personally I'd love to the strike and the nrl try draw crowds with the reserve ball sides.

Very disappointing commentary from all. Not surprising that journos are against a media blackout. And talking to a journo off the record isn’t making a media appearance, so Riccio is either dumb or lying. Slagging off the players and their association rather than looking at what the NRL has done? Biased. No credibility and I’ve lost a lot of respect for everyone on the panel. Looking at high wages is a distraction - how much money is the game making? What’s their contribution to the coffers? How hard do they work compared to V’landys or Abdo? Who’s worth more?

From my understanding nrl have met the players more then halfway but the rlpa keep demanding more and moving the goalposts. It’s about power more then anything the players already get all the benefits in the world and are on a healthy wage to boot . The women are the highest paid by % of revenue they create something like 90 % of the revenue they make is given back in payments for the women .

This is so biased and far off the point. look at all the comments punters don't care. the only people whinging and complaining is Fox and Nine journos. it's not about pay. It's about other conditions, number of games, medical, player data, proper financial reporting from the NRL. I'm not involved and know more about it than you.
