Why does the media think that they are in control of our game. Why does Paul Kent think that his point of view in our game is so important. We need to stop buying newspapers and give these media types no platform in this great game. All of these sin bins and weeks off is going to destroy State of Origin. Some of our best players missing out on playing State of Origin, therefor making it a second rate series.

I used to have a bit of time for Paul Kent's opinion but he's completely lost me on this, he had Clint Newton from the players association on the radio and couldn't stop interrupting Clint and talking over the top of him. I'd even go so far as saying he tried to bully him. And all Clint was trying to say was this could all be worked out better with more consultation. Instead Kent wanted to trick him into saying something he'd regret. Clint to his credit stayed calm through out and succeeded in making Kent look like a dickhead

If you're going to talk about Friend, Cordner and Keary, then you have to mention that almost all of their concussions resulted from a hip or knee to the head when making tackles, not from head shots. The V'Landys thing is a different issue. One man should not have the power to change the game and the rules as often as he does to suit his agendas. We have been down this road before with Super League. Its our game !

The study isnt really that helpful once you are forced to tackle in a more limited amount of positions, you have Tolmalolo full tilt and get Ur head on the wrong side etc. Concussion is just inevitable in this sport I don't get why we are pretending otherwise? We can try limit it but end of the day you play a decade of NRL the likelihood you won't get dozens of times where your head Is knocked, landed on, hits the ground, head clashes, knees, hips, elbows it's pretty much the essence of the game that these things happen and even more so when your playing hard and fast with athletic bodies...

I play SuperCoach and it frustrates the hell out of me every week can’t imagine being in an actual paying job where I’d need to chop and change my team every week in this chaos!!

But concussion isn't the only problem. Studies in the United States on gridiron players as young as eleven uncovered evidence of brain trauma. And very few of these kids had ever been concussed. The conclusion at the time was that brain damage was caused less by a small number of heavy knocks than the accumulation of small ones. Just hitting the turf head first is enough to traumatize the brain. Multiply this trauma by 10,000 incidents in the entire career of a player and you have a ticking time bomb ready to explode on not just the NRL - but all collision sports. And there's no shortage of lawyers who are just champing at the bit to hold them accountable.

I can’t remember the last time i saw a player with head gear get sent off for a HIA. Just saying with all these head knocks yet none of the blokes with the skull caps seem to be impacted. There not infallible but they appear to have some benefit.

That doesn't deal with the players that will sue post football though. This is about money & liability, nothing more.
Put something in their contract that stipulates they consent to the risks involved in playing a contact sport so they can't.

I thought cordner couldn't play because the roosters where over the salary cap? Like wasn't there something about this at the start of the year and if they didn't have a player play, it would cut out the amount they were over the salary cap? Hence why they rested Boyd and used it on the pretence of concussions. Yes he already has issues but perfect excuse to get under the salary cap by "him not playing".
