I just did my first hidden zipper thanks to your great video. It came out perfect! It took me a minute after I had sewn the second half of zipper to figure out how to turn it around to zip. Great video!
8:51 Out of all the invisible zipper tutorials out there this one made the most sense to me. I have been nervous to start my pillow covers but I think I am ready to go now. Thank you so much!
I've have watched countless videos showing how to install an invisible zipper and this is the only one that has made sense to me. I actually think I could do it now! You are great at explaining things to beginners like myself! Thank you!
I had printed instructions for a pillow with an invisible zipper. Had to rip out the zipper twice. I watched your video and now my two pillows that I made for my daughter nursery are done and beautiful! Thank you.
New to sewing and my first project is a pillow with cording and invisible zipper. I have watched lots of videos on invisible zipper installation and yours was the most calming and easy to follow. Thank you for the quiet background music. I actually prefer no music but yours was not annoying or loud. Thank you for sharing your talents.
Hello you have helped me a lot learned a lot I had to quit work because I had cancer I’m a single mom my youngest son in college I love sewing to help my son with college you are amazing woman I have 4 children and 5 grandchildren so I know u love to do things for your love ones you have a blessed night
This was exactly what I needed. I'm planning on making some sofa pillows and wanted to use an invisible zipper. Thank you for such great instructions. 😊
Thank you for an easy-to-follow tutorial! Your video was very professional, with the clear close-ups when stitching the zipper so you can easily follow. And your cam actually stayed right on your work, unlike many videos I've seen. Also the audio was very clear. I actually loved the sound of your boys playing in the background!
@@SheMakes31 Um, after I stitched the zipper onto both fabric sides, I tried out the zipper and it was stuck. Tried taking out some of the stitches thinking maybe stitched too close, but still can't get the zipper to work. I did use an invisible zipper foot. What happened? Thanks!
Lady She Makes, I have learnt a great lesson from you today! I can actually use the floor with my cutting mat on the floor! Excellent tutorials. Cool voice and the step-by-step approach will help any new beginner get behind the machine and make great cushions.
I came across your video and it's wonderful for a beginner like myself. As this Pandemic took place I found myself wanting to give back to the Essential Workers as I am a retired EW. I had no clue on how to use a sewing machine let alone how to properly cut material. :-). But since watching so many YT videos I've become a little more efficient in sewing. Since learning the machine back in March I've been doing masks for family friends and EW. Now my 33 y/o daughter have me making her throw pillows for her. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos from you. CONGRATULATION ON THE NEW BUNDLE OF JOY.
Those pillows look so nice together on your couch. I bet the boys have had fun pillow fights with them too. When you start to sew the pillow together, you mention using the right side of your presser foot as your guide. What you forgot to mention is that your needle is not centered but to the left of center. That is what provides a 1/2" seam allowance overall. I prefer glass head pins to sew my projects. Sometimes I'll use clips, but overall I feel they are heavy and clunky. Clips DO have the advantage of not poking you though. : ) Thank you for this pillow tut!
wow! great tutorial. I’m a beginner sewist and this is the perfect project for me. After I test my machine’s stitch options on test febric, I’ll attempt a pillow cover. I’m replacing old pillow covers with invisible zippers, I’ll use an old pillow cover as a template for measurements. Can’t wait to get started. Thanks again.
I think I've followed your instructions to the letter, but the teeth on my invisible zipper still show when I've closed it. What might I have done wrong?
Hi! I tried using the directions on the zipper, epic fail! haha Your video makes so much sense! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Mine is a little wonky, but I'm attributing that to the fact I did this without a zipper foot on my machine. I definitely will invest in one now!!!!
Hi thank you for your helpful tutorial on installing the invisible zipper, my question is do I have to have an invisible zipper foot in order to put one in? Thanks!
I was pricing toss pillows for my outdoor furniture. Then it hit me that I had some cute fabric I bought during a trip to Ghana. I was curious about the best way to sew pillows with invisible zippers. Then, I came across your video and voilá-just like that-I was inspired to make them myself! Thank you for the inspiration!!! Your video was fantastic!!
That’s awesome!! You can save sooo much money by making your own covers and you can always change them out...plus they’re custom made by YOU! Thank you for watching Jacqueline 😊
This was awesome. I am an art teacher and I need to expand skill range. This tutorial makes me feel more confident about embarking upon the sewing journey.
Hi there, quick questions....there seems to be a little space between the end of the zipper and where you stopped sewing, as maybe it's not possible to sew all the way to seal the zipper completely shut? I'm a first time pillow maker, tackling buckwheat hull pillows. Need to make a zippered case to hold the hulls and then another zip case to put that into. I don't want the dust from the hulls to get out and wondered how to avoid that by sewing the zipper as close as possible. Also regarding the pinking shears, why not do that after you first cut the fabric before its all sewed together? It seems that would be easier...Thanks so much!
You are so incredible! I just found your channel today and have been binge watching all your videos! Lol. You have a beautiful family, and I'm learning so much!
Depends on how far you want them. I usually make them the dimensions of the pillow and add a half inch to allow for seam allowance. So for a 20 x 20 I will cut it out as a 20 1/2 x 20 1/2. This is so that your pillow is nice and snug inside. You could always do it a little bit bigger if you don’t want them as full.
Hey there! When you say you did the fabric the same size as your pillow insert, did you add an extra inch when cutting your fabric to allow for the half inch seam allowance on each side? Example: if your pillow insert is 20” x 20”, did you cut the fabric at 20” x 20” also (making your pillow cover 19” x 19” after subtracting the half inch seam allowance) or 21” x 21” to allow for the extra half inch seam allowance on each side? Thanks so much!!
Love the video but unfortunately I don’t have a a specific invisible zipper foot for my machine. Would love to see how to sew the invisible zipper with a regular ripper foot if possible. Thank you very
I love the fabric you used but the link for it doesn't work anymore, I figured they don't carry the fabric anymore so do you happen to know the name of it so I might find it elsewhere. Thanks
Great tutorial! Any advice for issues while stitching the zipper, the thread kept getting caught in the zipper & I made sure the zipper was placed on the correct side of the zipper foot. It happened mostly on the "right" side. Thanks
Your video is amazing. I have one little problem I used the same foot but my thread keeps sewing into the zipper teeth. It might be my sewing machine. I finally pulled out the zipper foot that came with my machine. I was just curious did I do something wrong or did any one else have this problem. I’m glad I checked after I sewed one side and was able to correct it. But once again your video is very detailed and this made sewing my first zipper easy.
What if you have a cheap beginners machine without multiple feet, like an invisible zipper foot? Do you just sew close ,to the zipoer coil, by eye. Will that work okay too?
Yes you could certainly try that but even a beginner machine should have the ability to change feet. Have you looked into your specific machine to see if that’s possible? Thank you so much for watching ☺️
This is the best invisible zipper pillow tutorial on TH-cam! It’s very detailed and easy to follow along. Thank you so much!
Oh wow! Thank you so much! I’m glad it was helpful to you. Thank you for watching 🥰

What a delightful and informative video, thanks so so much!!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you so straight to the point...
Great video. Question, why didn't you cut fabric with the pinking scissors? Thanks
I guess it’s just easier with a rotary cutter for me to get straight lines
Hi there, quick questions....there seems to be a little space between the end of the zipper and where you stopped sewing, as maybe it's not possible to sew all the way to seal the zipper completely shut? Wow Tabitha thank you!! That means so much to me! I’m so happy you’re here 💖
Such pretty pillows! Perfect for Spring and Summer!
Thank you so much! The colors are totally 😍
Beautiful
Great Job!!!!!
Do you recommend seeing in the invisible zippers first before you stitch the other three sides of the pillow cover?
*sewing not seeing.
if i have a 20 by 20 pillow insert how much extra do i have to add when cutting it
Depends on how far you want them.
🥰🧵🪡 I’m going to try this now! Thank you!
Just what I was looking for. Thank you! :)
Love the video but unfortunately I don’t have a a specific invisible zipper foot for my machine. Would love to see how to sew the invisible zipper with a regular ripper foot if possible. Thank you very
What size pillow forms do you have there at the end?
I love the fabric you used but the link for it doesn't work anymore, I figured they don't carry the fabric anymore so do you happen to know the name of it so I might find it elsewhere. Thanks
Great tutorial! Any advice for issues while stitching the zipper, the thread kept getting caught in the zipper & I made sure the zipper was placed on the correct side of the zipper foot. It happened mostly on the "right" side. Thanks
I am having this same issue too, and my zipper isn’t closing because of this. Did you find a resolution?
Thanks!
I wish you would have shown an up close image/footage of the zipper at the end (from the right side).
Great tutorial. What type of fabric did you use?
Canvas duck fabric from hobby lobby
If I want to make 18 in square pillows...do I use your same measurements? If not, would you recommend 19 in square cuts of fabric? Thanks.
