I just found this channel and I’m over the moon happy. My mom was a seamstress and I was the gofer and learned a ton. Haven’t done in decades but I think I found my retired hobby!!!! Your manner is so refreshing! Your speech is clear without the annoying millenials rise of speech at the end of each sentence. Drives me batty. You also don’t beg for likes and views. Yeah! This channel will have a million subscribers I bet.
BEST and EASIEST video to follow for pillows with invisible zippers! I’ve watched at least 10+ other videos prior to watching this one because the task felt so daunting, and I didn’t want to risk messing up my only pieces left of the fabric to make a zippered pillowcase. From the clear instructions to the tips and tricks to the reasons behind certain actions, I now feel ready and confident to make mine. Thank you so much for sharing this video!
Great tutorial! I'm currently picking apart some online purchased covers to give them a better color backing. Lovely red shades on the front and off white on the back - looks terrible. Apparently I neglected to read the description and make sure it stated "double-sided". I've ordered some invisible zippers because the existing ones are too short and now feel confident about completing the remake. 😊
This is a great idea. I hadn't throught about making my own zippered pillow covers before, but now I know that it's a possibility. Not sure why I'd never thought about making one before. By the way, viewers should take the warning seriously about keeping your finger away from the needle. I have more than once put a needle right through my finger, and the panic it caused always meant that I had to have someone else help me get my finer free (my mother in one instance, and my poor husband the other time; my mother had seen this before but he hadn't and was appalled that it could happen).
Thank you! So thorough and easy to follow. I did it on my first try, very excited with the results! The biggest challenge I had was trying to "unroll" the zipper tape as I fed it through the invisible zipper foot; I just didn't have enough fingers to hold everything! I ended up using the regular zipper foot to first "baste" the zipper into the fabric and then came back with the invisible zipper foot and was better able to manage the unrolling since the zipper was secured to the fabric already. Thank you again, so glad I found your video.
Your instructions were fabulous! I use zipper tape and hand quilted fleece for my pillow cover to match a fleece quilt I will be making tomorrow. So excited to have a cuddly set. ❤ Thank you, Catherine.
Very helpful. Thank you. I needed to see the second side with the invisible zipper foot. It was the reason I watched this session. Also, please demonstrate a pillow with cording or trim and an invisible zipper. Thanks again.
Catherine, first time watching one of your videos, Well Done! Good pace, lots of helpful content and great video taping!! thank you! 'tis the season in Minnesota to sew!!
Thank you for explaining how to sew an invisible zipper! One quick question…. What happens to the end of the zipper that is longer than the fabric? Do you clip it off or hide it inside the pillow?
I’m going to start callling my mom ‘dear old’ and blame you. Lol hey, when you’re 84, ya gotta expect it at some point! If I tell it right, she’ll get. A kick out of it. Stay sweet! 😻
I just saw your video even though it was done three years ago. I love the fabric you chose for the pillows. Looks really nice on the couch. Are they still there or did you make new ones?
Thanks I have zipper-phobia. I will try with a holiday pillow cover with less commitment than decor fabric. I will start with pillow cover and then go on to a dress zipper.
Hi Catherine. What a great video. I'm a not so young beginner 😂 Q: I don't know the terminology. For decor pillow covers. At the zip closed end, Is there a trick to make the zipper keep going a little past where the seam begins to hide the tab? Am I making any sense?😂 Maybe you have a separate video for this?
Great video, but a couple of questions please… 1) I see the dog ears, so how would you avoid that? 2) if zipper isn’t long enough to go off the edge, how would you sew close enough to zipper pull so the zipper tape doesn’t show at that spot? Thank you 😊
Question: how much larger should the fabric be than the pillow insert? BY far your video is the best I've seen on how to insert an invisible zipper but none mention how much larger the pillowcase should be.
I found with the second side when I pinned, then sewed I still had too much movement and the zip was not lined up together. I just pinned the start, and used the invisible zipper foot opposite side and had no slipping of my zipper.
Hi Catherine, Thanks for the helpful video! Great quality tutorial. Quick question- what do you do with the extra zipper hanging out, should you cut it off or leave it because it'll be hidden on the inside? Thanks! @user-ft7ry7xy5z had the same question
I watched multiple videos trying to install an invisible zipper and yours was the one that finally made sense to me. THANK YOU!
You are very welcome! I'm so glad my video helped!

Omg, that rise of speech! I call it the sing song sentences and I can’t stand it either
Best pillow cover tutorial ever! Sending it to a niece now!
Awww, thank you so much!

Wow, thank you! That's so great to hear. I hope your pillows turn out great!
Best video I've seen on invisible zippers. The camera showed all the details and so very well explained. Thank you!
Thanks, Julie! That's great feedback!
Best invisible zipper tutorial I’ve seen ❤ Thank you!
Thank you for showing how to do a hidden zipper. The covers are so pretty.
Catherine, Thank you for the invisible zipper video! It was very helpful and easy to follow.👍🏻🙂
Don't invisible zippers make the nicest cushion covers!? Thanks so much for watching and leaving a nice comment.
Very good tips sewing the pillows. Love it!
Best tutorial ever! Btw also thank you for your sense of humour 😄
Excellent video, easy to follow instructions, thank you!
Wish I had seen this before I started. Made it look so easy👍💜
Great job! I would like to learn how to add piping with the zipper 💚
Thanks for the tutorial. My mom also asked me to make some pillow covers. This will be my first time installing a zipper. Thank you!
Good luck with it! It shouldn't be too difficult for you!
Great detailed video! Thank you for the specific tips throughout the project. They are very helpful.

the clearest instruction ! Thank you!

very nice. Thank you!
Great pillows

Great video. I also love a piped cushion. Would adding piping be easy to do as well as inserting an invisible zipper?

So sorry, I wish I knew what you meant! You can wrap a tab of fabric around the closed end of the zipper to conceal it. Is that what you mean?
Great video, but a couple of questions please… 1) I see the dog ears, so how would you avoid that? 2) if zipper isn’t long enough to go off the edge, how would you sew close enough to zipper pull so the zipper tape doesn’t show at that spot? Thank you 😊

Thanks for your kind words! At 2:44 I mention that you'll cut the fabric the same size as the pillow form.
ok, you don't add a seam allowance but you are still sewing into the fabric. What size seam are you going with? 1/2 or 1/4? Thanks very much!
Can you back tack at the corners to give a little stability? My pillows get blow outs at the corners sometimes.
Yes, you sure could!
Good video
Catherine: “is it a regular or invisible zipper?
Student: “Well… I can see it”
Viewer: hahahahaha. Lol 😂🤣
Haha, ya, I always think we should keep a record of the cute and funny things our students say! That was a good one.
I found with the second side when I pinned, then sewed I still had too much movement and the zip was not lined up together. I just pinned the start, and used the invisible zipper foot opposite side and had no slipping of my zipper.
Nice!
Thanks!
Iron the seams open before turning it to the right side.
Having trouble with your videos to get them to run, they stop after just a few seconds
Sorry you're having trouble! I just watched half of this one and it played fine. Hopefully the problem cleared up at your end?
Catherine!!!! =)
