And that's the last time anyone ever saw Jonas. Good luck, hopefully the sea was aslo frozen, when you made it there, five minutes later... Cool sled, cheers!
When I was a kid we put a horizontal shaft lawnmower engine on a sled, drive was 3 or 4 sprockets from bicycles welded together. My friend was selected for test run, couldn't steer it and went thru thin ice into 3-4 feet of water. He had to go and drag the sled out. We also mounted it on a 3 speed bike with a banana seat, it would do about 30 mph with 2 people on it. We were stopped by the cops in every town around.
What people don't realize is the potential of these motors and that they are still being developed. Where Gasoline and Diesel tech has almost peaked; Various jet technologies are only now being rapidly expanded.
Surprised no one has used a pulse jet engine for an experimental aircraft. That would be an interesting project. I'm thinking you could make a pretty fast single seat light airplane relatively cheap with this engine. Not sure if the FAA would be happy about it.
You are quite correct. Only one moving part. A friend of mine at school built a car chassis with seat, steering, brakes and pulse jet in 1965. Nosiest kid among 500!
@@jonassvenssonharskogen5186 you completely missed my comment…..it was meant to be funny. Humor does come hard to some folks. But thanks for letting me know he didn’t disappear.
The way to do it would be to use a wing from a paramotor trike, as it'll be big enough to support all the weight and wouldn't require massive amounts of engineering to make it actually fly, let alone fly safely. The wing might catch on fire, however, and weight distribution will have to be worked out.
The combustion chamber is nearer to the intake side. The hot exhaust gases get sucked back into the vacuum after the explosion, and so does fresh air and fuel into the combustion chamber. Once the hot exhaust gases hit the already primed chamber, another deflagration wave ignites.
I was waiting for the guy on skates to outrun him using the leaf blower for propulsion
Lol
Me too and was the only reason I watched the video....
He’d have a better chance at steering and stopping…

Absolutely awesome. Can’t wait to see more footage!
Thanks! Its coming soon😊
0:32 it was at this point, Jonas realised they hadn’t thought about brakes.
Imagine living in London during WW2 and finding a way to move in time only to land and near those guys. :x
Imagine being in your 80s, lived through it and hearing it again.
I was hoping to see a Merlin powered sled come in and knock it off course.
The driver's name is "Wil E. Coyote."
Rocked sled a acme product .

Very cool. First test and everybody is alive - result good.
Which way to London!
“I don’t think the ice is as thick further out!”
“Whaaaat!!!? I can’t hear you!!!”
“Chocks away!!!!”
😂
Does the machine run on vodka or just the crew?
Just a good ole boys, never meanin no harm. Go Bo go!!!!!
Driver: This is brilliant, how do I stop it?
Engineer: Silence......
First model hade "brakes" but the brakes on this one actually works😁
drivers are such whiners
I wonder how fast you can go with the leaf blower.
Legend has it he's still crossing the lake
What people don't realize is the potential of these motors and that they are still being developed. Where Gasoline and Diesel tech has almost peaked; Various jet technologies are only now being rapidly expanded.
FIRST test of a JET powered sled? And it's manned? Now that's dedication....or pure insanity.
Well it's hard to drive without a driver🫣😁 It's a little of both😏
Oh I can't wait to see a speed run once the brakes are going proper and you run all 3 fuel pumps... Definitely subscribing.
Nice that you liked it! Will bee in a race in March. Hopefully we can film and make a full speed test.
You can se the brakes in the last video in the end. Low speed but still😊
the ingenuity of mankind is a wondrous thing.
none of it was demonstrated in this video.
Man that thing was fast holy crap!! 🐢
Yup. Times sure are tough when we can only build a pulse jet propelled sled. Money sure is tight these days.
I have to get to my jobb in one way ore another🤔😊
Never thought I’d have the opportunity to hear what a V1 might sound like from 10 meters away
Was that Wile E Coyote in the drivers seat, I think I saw the ACME delivery box
"We're gonna need a Bigger lake ! "
☆
Actually your right, it's getting small very fast🫣
Brilliant ! Keep up the Craziness
Brilliant! Sheer lunacy! Did anyone think about brakes???
Believe it or not, it have pneumatic brakes that works really well😊
I have noticed with snow mobiles when you get over 100 they do not turn good.
you just gotta lean harder
This have knife edges on the skies so the grip is really good at any speed😃
@@jeffminnich3291 I am running rich.
If your wife thinks you are a disappointment, show her this video
Is there some such thing as a world ice speed record, or would traveling on ice be classed as water?
it'd probably be classed separately.
What is the spaced/separated cone at the back for?
How much thrust does the augmenter on the back add?
Approximately 10% but with a bigger augmentor I think it will be a bit more😊
Climate change believer here and I love this .big thumbs up .wherever that guy ends up I hope he gets ride back and doesn't have to walk back
Haha we came back. There is a new video on the entire run. And will be more videos soon🤘

Search for "Borealis"
Uuuhhhh, the germans used this technology in the 30s-40s......
That sounds just like a V1, it’s crazy.
i mean the v1 in battlefield 5 is recorded using a pulsesjet snow scooter in sweden
So, basically a V1 buzz bomb engine.
Rumour has it that sled was last seen in the night sky on xmas eve chasing runaway reindeer with the pilot yelling Rudolph Im sorry! 😅
Does he land in London ??😊
"Jane! .....How do you stop this crazy thing"!!!
Did he ever come back ?
He rode off into the sunset and was never seen again. Legend has it that in some winters, you can still hear the faintly buzz of that pulse jet.
Wind Wagon Smith is with him, still roaming the country .
Finally he did😏
Very practical.
What's the deal with the extra piece of tube/nozzle with a gap in the rear? I don't think I've seen anything like that before.
It's a augmentor. It's a nozzle that drags along extra air on every pulse, makes more thrust.
@@TheErilaz Thanks! Never seen one with a gap like that.
Yes it's providing 10-15% extra thrust and it looks cool 😎😊
@@jonassvenssonharskogen5186 It sure does!
What if it stalls 1/2 mile away?
Oh no! A half mile walk back?!?
The horror!
Wily coyote has the patent
Good old V1, still working after all these years. 🤣
I haven't seen him since that day.
Brilliant but won’t the exhaust melt the ice? Maybe that’s why he’s not come back…. 😳
They didnt show him coming back?
He sank under the ice
Thats what V1 rockets used right?

How do stop the thing , drag you feet?
Pneumatic brakes🤘😁
@ good one
In a noter clip on my page you can see it in action in the end. Still not full brake power but enough😊
Good to see you back. :-)
Thanks! Better late then newer😊 will i se you on speed week?

There, done. I will be there!@@jonassvenssonharskogen5186
What could possibly go wrong??
Afterwards his sled was shot down by a Spitfire
Open water at 75 MPH, ice skates on the front. Brilliant
You crazy euros...got ice? Got a rocket?
Остановка после выработки топлива или в промоине подо льдом.
And we never saw him again😅😅😅
In 1981 Sammy Miller put skates on his rocket powered dragster and did 247mph at Lake George.
Love all the mad people in the world, they make it all the more fun and bearable!😃
Thanks🤘👍
What is that extra tube at the back for?
It's an augmentor to increase thrust. You get approx 10% extra thrust but some extra drag at high speed.
And he was never seen again…..
Take a look at the last video, there you can see it returning🤘😊
@@jonassvenssonharskogen5186 you completely missed my comment…..it was meant to be funny. Humor does come hard to some folks. But thanks for letting me know he didn’t disappear.
Probably was a nice guy too
I don't know the weight of the engine and the vehicle. If it is not big, with the addition of wings it could fly.
The way to do it would be to use a wing from a paramotor trike, as it'll be big enough to support all the weight and wouldn't require massive amounts of engineering to make it actually fly, let alone fly safely. The wing might catch on fire, however, and weight distribution will have to be worked out.
Latest version? Not the one that crashed in 2022 at 114 km/h?
Haha no. I could only save the engine. Everything else is new😊
Nice looking setup! Have you measured a thrust increase with that engine being augmented?
Approximately 10-15% Not that much but it looks cool😁🤘
How does the air intake work?
It’s kinda just how a pulse jet takes in air
It take in air from the shorter nozzle pointing back. Valveless pulse jets sound like they shouldn't work yet they do.
The combustion chamber is nearer to the intake side. The hot exhaust gases get sucked back into the vacuum after the explosion, and so does fresh air and fuel into the combustion chamber.
Once the hot exhaust gases hit the already primed chamber, another deflagration wave ignites.
Wow the flash flies 😊
Вернулся хоть?
That's the damndest machine I've ever seen...
This is awesome!
Thanks!
Where did he go? That way ⬆️⬆️
Is that an SSled?
The roar was heard by a friend here in Munich, Germany.
Wahwahwooie
Oooh, zis is what you Tschermans call ze Fieseler Fi-103, ja? We just thought we'd return the favour.
Got up to say 20 MPH! Did they think about how to stop??
To stop it needs 20 HPM. 😂
That using, essentially, a motor off a V-1 buzz bomb. I wonder what it would be like with say... One of these new, rotating detonation rocket engines?
If you ever get your hands on a rotary combustion engine you now vere to send it😁
Is that on Puapack?
You wait 'til the noise stops and then wait 20 seconds for the explosion.
Well,, I was expecting something else! LOL
Been nice knowing you...
As the ice melts behind it ….. the race is on.
I think Clark Griswold’s saucer with the semi-osmotic, non-nutritive crunch enhancer sprayed on it moved faster!
Haha don't even know what that means. This was first test and not full throttle. But som how I don't think you care😁
One of the best movie moments ever, just ahead of Cousin Eddie emptying the RV’s waste into a storm drain and the methane lights up 🤣
Now how does he stop? Lol
That's easy. He just impacts the land surrounding the lake.
Is he ever coming back?
Haha he did. Check out the last video🤘😊
And he was never seen again.
I want to see more, a lot more.
Thanks! It will come more. Hopefully we will have a new run today. But the video probably will taka a week ore two.
Sure that's crazy, but let's see the crazy guy who wants to get pulled behind it!
Great first test. Were you able to smooth out your Pulse Jet?
Did he die?
Haha no, still alive🤘
Fantastic design!
Thanks so much. A detailed video will come soon😊
That's pretty cool! Now how does he stop?
With his life I think 🤔
@@devarmont87 I thought he would stop like on the Flintstones.
Boom!

I've seen it all now!
