Thanks for putting out the quality video Luke! If I’m on a spree with apply cards with Chase, how long should I wait to cool off before applying for the Citi Strata Premiere as I haven’t ventured into Citi Ecosystem yet
I see it as an all around card. 3x Points on all big 3 spenders and travel and hotels combined. You mentioned the savor thats just dining and grocery not gas or travel. Im just not the one to want to keep 6-7 cards in the wallet. All i want is the citi trifecta. Started with the strata premier. Next is double cash and custom cash.
I think going with the retention bonus was a wise choice. For the top 5 travel card issuers, how would you rank them? Amex, Chase, Cap1, Citi and Wells?
Im considering product swapping to the custom cash and getting the rewards + card cause the capital one savor one does the exact same without an annual fee
If you have the alternative to run 3 Custom Cash setup vs Strata Premier for simplicity. Which one you would choose? Or will you choose a different ecosystem anyway?
@@ramon__olivero 3 CCC would be cool if I was a cash back guy. Given the two options, I think I’d take the custom cash. I’d need to bust out my label maker
Nice video Luke on your thought process on whether or not to keep the Citi Strata Premier. I’m just finishing my 75K sub with Citi Strat Premierand I can see myself keeping the card long term as it hits all my daily multipliers and I don’t have an alternative such as WF Autograph or C1 Savor card.

Love that you said I can have access to just the Citi Partners and still kill it. When people complain about Citi or C1 partners I think, you just need to do a little bit of homework. But I do get your reasoning for thinking about canceling. I'd take that 10k retention offer too! $3k in 6 months? No problem. Citi transfer partners for 1 more year! Thats a win.
I'd probably also take that retention offer though yeah the card doesn't offer anything special if you already have other cards with transferrable currencies like the Savor One. Great video Luke!

@@LukesPointsandMilesdarn. Well, they need to get in on it as well. Good to hear you got a retention offer though. I didn’t know that Citi gives those….probably because I don’t have Citi cards 🤣🤣

And I keep hoping for a card with more general travel and transit rewards. But I did get the 85k offer two years ago, so I'll probably renew one more year...
It sounds like a decent card, just not exceptional. Also the general consensus seems to be that Citi's custom service sucks. I have no experience with this of course, just repeating what I've seen/heard on various platforms.
@@soapa4279 ahhh word to the wise - never repeat such things if you’ve never experienced it. It’s amazing how much weight your words carry. Makes me wonder just how many times “Citi CS sucks” is typed by someone with no relationship with Citi!! 🤣
Literally got the strata premier 6 days ago and have had to call in 4 times for “fraud” alerts on normal spend. Now they need to send me a snail mail letter to “verify” me. Not jazzed about my chances of hitting the SUB if I keep having to call in every time I make a purchase. IMO was a waste of a 5/24 slot just because of their fraud “protection” system and poor customer service. Will most likely cancel as soon as I can verify myself through this stupid letter.
@@yurig2530 that’s awesome. I’ve heard of some folks not being allowed to product change. I’m Amazon’s you’ve been approved for they many citi cards! Hah
@@LukesPointsandMiles I have 12 year history with Citi. First card was Citi Forward in 2012 (amazing card). Many cards since then. Never cancelled any, always converted.
I recently accepted a 35K MR point to keep the Platinum, and a few days later was able to use a $350 cruise coupon. My motives changed to wanting an eventual switch to the Amex Green, keep these coupons rolling, something I had overlooked due to Costco Travel's Amex policy. An extra year with a card is worth the opportunity to reevaluate, anything can change with us, the card, or downgrade paths.
I decided to go with the Citi Premier over the Savor One for several reasons. The Venture X is already a big earner for me, so I like having a way to earn Citi Thank You Points for diversity. Additionally, I find that Citi transfer bonuses are more enticing than Capital One. And Finally, with Capital One you never know if they are going to approve you as they can be very flaky…so I figured why waste a hard inquiry and leave it to chance.
Sofia, Bulgaria today. Strata 3X for Accor, Radisson, & non-chain hotels, groceries, and restaurants. No car this month. Flying among 6 Balkan countries then taking buses and trains.
