Congrats on finally completing the Citi Duo! Been waiting for you to apply for the premier. You had always talked about that you wanted the card in your setup and now here we are! Congrats again man! 😁👍
I got approved for $4400 over the weekend. It was hard to pass up 75k points. I swore was gonna garden throughout 2024, but this is my 4th card within a 2 month period, HAHA! This CSP is my first travel card with an annual fee & I am so happy they added travel protections. Maybe I’ll visit Europe again before WW3 totally pops off. 😬
Congrats man for the BIG DADDY Citi Strata Premier no doubts you were going to get it. You will love the painless product changes to any Citi card you want if you care to down the road. The Citi Strata Premier is a solid 3x travel card with no foreign transaction fees and now some decent travel protections. I’m bummed about the card design as it’s not as nice as the Citi Premier card, at the end of the day the rewards are what counts!
I appreciate that Shawn! Super excited to have this one in the setup. I'm looking forward to the unboxing to see if it's one I actually end up liking more than I think. We'll see!
The CSP that we can have in our wallet and use it!👑 6hr $500 Trip delay is great, $3k lost/damage luggage, $10k trip cancellation and car rental are competitive for $95. The 24 months extended warranty and $10k purchase protection are 💪 Congratulations 🎉 brother! Thanks for the info!🫵
Congrats on the approval! As for making an account with each of the credit bureaus, do you have to pay to be able to access these? Or are these available for free?
Congrats on getting the new card! I’m definitely looking at the Strata within the next year or so, I took a page out of your book and got double approved for the Custom Cash and Bilt cards today. Thank you for all the info!
Hey Spencer, thanks for the video! After watching it, I was encouraged to apply for the new citi strata card now instead of waiting till the fall 2024. And I’m happy to share like you. I was also approved for the card! Thanks again
My scores are almost identical but I only have two cards and they’re under a year but 15% utilization total. I was worried and debating this or Sapphire? Maybe I’ll try it!
Hey Spencer! Thinking about applying for this card or the Custom Cash as my 2 of 3 of the Citi trifecta. Got the Double Cash 3 months ago, 735 Experian, oldest account is 16 months old, 1% utilization, 2/24 1/12 1/6 inquiries. Also have been banking with Citi for over a year. What do you think my odds are, and which card should I go for first?
Hey Cameron! Since you're newer to the credit card game and have a clean credit report, I'd assume your likelihood is pretty high! I can't promise anything of course, but the cleaner the credit report the better. I'd consider adding the card that you'd get the most use out of immediately, and the fact that the Strata Premier has an elevated offer right now makes it really enticing in the short term. It's up to you though at the end of the day!
Great video, Spencer! I just picked up the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Cash as we had car repairs and a “settle-up” Edison bill upcoming (we have solar but used more than we made) to satisfy those SUBs, but definitely eyeing this “new” CSP to get more Citi points for a vacation rental in Big Bear through Choice Hotels for the extended family holiday trip. The Chase points will be for my immediate family’s trip to Jamaica next summer! Great to see Citi approved you while over 5/24, I’m at 4/24 now but picked up the Custom Cash and Rewards+ last year during our home remodel for the SUBs, so I’m wary if Citi will grant me one more card.
Thank you Milton! I definitely hope to utilize that Choice partnership they have, so we'll see how that goes! And just a quick correction, I was actually at 4/24 when I applied for this card and now I'm at 5/24 until July. But I'm glad to see they're seemingly being more lenient on approvals right now! And btw, congrats on your new cards.. that's awesome!
Congrats on the approval! I'm waiting to apply closer to November when I have a property tax bill due. Of course if I hear that the elevated offer is going away I'll pull the trigger. How many TY points have you racked up with the Custom Cash?
I appreciate that brotha! I'm definitely excited to have locked in that 75k point offer. I'm sitting at roughly 40k TY points right now, so I'll have enough after this bonus for a solid trip.
Let’s go! 14 straight approvals is INSANE! Congrats on the new card! Def one I may consider late 2025 after I finish running through Chase and Amex! Hopefully the Strata Elite is out by late 2025 - maybe that will be my premium travel card if the Platinum doesn’t work out! Love your content. - Ivan
My experience applying last week: I have excellent credit. I applied and got denied, then I called their reconsideration line and was approved for the Strata Premier. When I got the card on the mail though it was the old one (citi premier). But on the app it shows as Citi Strata Premier (same number it is printed in the card) For some reason they use the old design but it technically is a Citi Strata. I called them and they confirmed.
Congrats on your approval of the Citi Strata Premier, Spencer! I thought you had a pretty good chance at approval for this card. Honestly, if I wasn't gardening my Chase 5/24 status right now, I would consider getting the card, but right now I want the "OG" CSP (Chase Sapphire Preferred). The Citi CSP card would probably be a sock drawer card for me also. In a way, I'm kind of glad I won't be getting it for a while because right now I wouldn't be able to use the hotel credit since I usually only stay one or two nights at a time at a hotel. One good thing is when I do apply, I may have a good chance at approval because it may pull my Equifax credit report, where I have the least number of inquiries. When I was approved for the Custom Cash in December of 2022, Citi pulled my Equifax report and I'm in PA. I'll look forward to seeing your unboxing video, bro!
Thank you John!! I'm stoked to have this one in the arsenal now. That's really gonna expedite my roadmap now which is great! I think the Sapphire Preferred is a great card to add alongside this one even since they both give you access to the transfer partners you need. Thanks for your data points as well dude. You're the man!!
Got approved for this a couple days ago despite getting the Custom Cash only about a month ago. My guess for the leniency is to get an early influx of cardholders, but not gonna question it haha. Glad it worked out for you as well!
Congrats! Spencer you rascal! You planted a seed in my head, and walked me through your rationale... and it worked... just got approved, and had exactly the same precise thinking regarding World of Hyatt... I've been holding off hoping one day they offer some more than a guaranteed 30K SUB... love their points but think that offer could be higher... fingers crossed... I had also thought of waiting it out to see if in the future the historic high of 80K on the Premier "might" come one day for the Strata Premier... but that is a big if...
I appreciate that!! That's so cool to hear you followed through and got approved as well. We'll see if those Hyatt cards ever get a boost... I'll wait on them for now. Congrats on your approval though man!
Congrats on the approval Spencer! I think you picked a great time to keep your 100% approval streak alive ... I'm guessing Citi relaxed its underwriting at least a bit since it's a "new" card. Oh and great detailed overview as usual.
Well-presented, solid review of the card. I like the logic behind you adjusting your road map to take advantage of the elevated SUB, even if you risk denial
Congrats Spence! The alt CSP is also on my radar but I probably won't consider it until I PC my current AA Platinum Select card to a Custom Cash which won't be until next year and I'm looking to drop my inquiries to get closer to 5/24. Plus, I'm looking to hopefully add the Altitude Reserve later on this year so I need to garden for a little while.
I appreciate you!! Small note: I'd consider applying fresh for the Custom Cash so you can lock in a bonus before doing that product change. Then you could have 2 Custom Cash cards! The USBAR is looking super enticing to me as well.
I appreciate that! I actually made a video just like that a few months back covering my entire credit card journey at the time. I'll need to update that in the future though!
Congrats on the approval! I to will be applying for it the first day of June. From experian and credit karma it tells me i match with the strata premier. I do bank with citi, have the Double Cash and Custom Cash. If approve I would complete my citi trifecta! 😀
Thank you man! I'm really glad to see they didn't make any big negative changes to this card. Hopefully the new one they've been rumored to bring out is super competitive too!
Solid card but I just hate how the hotel credit won't be triggered if the stay is under $500 which is pretty pricey. AMEX Plat doesn't have the minimum FHR stay and in some states it's pretty easy to find hotels under $250. but BIG CONGRATS my man! Always fun to get a new card in the rotation.
I agree! If the credit fits my travel habits then I'll use it, but I'm not going to force myself to spend cash to activate it. Thanks so much for watching!!
That 5/24 Chase Rule is not set in stone... I was approved for the FF during a 1-month applying spree, FF IIRC was 5th or 6th card approved.... last 24 months 13 new CC.... Ex was low 700s...
Thanks for your data point! I imagine the reason you got around it with that high of a velocity is because you did it all before those cards reported to your credit report. The 5/24 rule is set in stone, but with your data it seems that as long as you apply for a Chase card before your 5th card in the last 24 months reports to the credit bureaus, you could be safe.
I only have inquiries on Experian because I have been getting only chase cards while I started off my journey getting up to 5/24. Since all my inquiries are on Experian, do you think I would be more likely to get approved if I freeze Experian as I apply to the Citi Strata Premier? I'd really like to get into Citi cards and this elevated SUB would really help me
I kept watching and saw what happened with your notification about unlocking TransUnion. I suppose I freeze Experian, and if they want Experian specifically they will tell me, and if they do, I'll just back out of the application and get no hard pull. I have 6 Experian inquiries, so I doubt they'd let that through. Thats great that you get to see which bureau they want to pull before the pull actually goes through
@@dylanschang6386 I'd say it's worth a shot freezing Experian for now. If they need you to unlock it, it seems like they'll let you know without denying you which is really nice.
Had the OG Premier and tried to apply for this one as well (and later downgrade the old Premier to a Custom Cash), but unfortunately denied. Will be trying recon this week.
Dang that sucks. I imagine you would've had to product change before applying for the Strata Premier, but hopefully recon can help you sort it out and let you get the bonus. Let me know if so!
@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Unfortunately no dice, the rep refused reconsideration (said it was ineligible), even after I offered to reduce credit limits on other cards. They said I could reapply at a later date. Probably a sign for me to chill on the applications for a while.
Wanted to give you credit not only discussing your credit freeze but showing it, including showing how easy it is to do a temporary thaw and continue applications. Every one should do this for all three bureaus.
I really appreciate that! I do my best to make my videos a one-stop-shop for anyone looking to get all the info in one place, so it means a lot to hear you say that.
You can add the Ink cards as they are business cards. They don't reflect on your personal side. I have all of the ink cards and World of Hyatt business.
The one travel protection that I particularly look for is travel accident insurance, and this card doesn't have it. The CSP does and even the Citi Costco Visa does (most probably because Costco insists on it).
I get that! Luckily you can implement the strategy I mentioned in the video of putting your travel purchases on another card with better protections (at least the taxes and fees).
Nice video. Congrats on approval. Last year I remember seeing 80k TP , it is unfortunate that we won’t be seeing that anymore 😢. Do you know does Citi allow moving credits across their credit cards? If so you can probably move from your Custom Cash since we only need 500$ 😂
Thanks so much! We may very well see an 80k point offer come back, but I wouldn't hold my breath haha. To my knowledge, you can call Citi and have them reallocate credit limits according to their rules, but I've never done so personally.
Hey good video man. I only have the Citi custom cash card. So I can’t speak on how hard their cards are to get. But I remember when I applied for the custom cash card my application reached a decision in less than 30 seconds.
I appreciate that Jeffrey! Generally, all card applications reach a decision really quickly these days, but whether or not you're on the good side of the outcome is another story of course. Thanks for watching as always!
I followed along with you but unfortunately got auto-denied. :( Off to the recon line I go. I really need this card to unlock my thankyou points haha. Otherwise, I guess I'm applying this Christmas or so XD
After watching this video, I decided "what the heck?", so I applied for the Citi Strata Premier card. I got approved instantly for $11,000. They checked my Experian credit report. I'm already disappointed in the card even though I haven't received it yet. Yes, it has travel benefits, but I called the bank and asked if it had "Worldwide Travel Accident Insurance". They told me that it does not have this benefit. What kind of travel card doesn't come with travel accident insurance? I will book a hotel to get the $100 back on the annual fee, and I'll do the minimum spend in order to get the bonus points. But I don't expect to keep the card beyond the first year.
Wow, that's so cool to hear you got approved! Just remember that even though it doesn't have that travel protection, you can use a different travel card for even just the taxes and fees and activate those travel credits. So it can still be worth keeping this card open for access to their partners at a minimum. Congrats on the approval!
As with most lenders, they're generally more lenient with co-branded cards since they have to partially share that decision with the partner since they have to keep their best interests in mind too.
They should have automatically product changed you the the Strata Premier. Citi is known for having a 48 month rule across all their cards meaning you can't get another welcome offer on the same card unless it's been 48 months since you last received the bonus on that card.
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial It did product change, but since technically, I didn't get a welcome offer for the strata. Do you think that might be loop around ?
It varies from person to person and state to state. I read they wanted to pull Equifax in Texas (where I live), but they ended up pulling Transunion instead.
Hey Johnson, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and repurpose your long videos into highly engaging shorts? I can also make high CTR thumbnails for your channel
i applied once for the custom cash because i was targeted for that card thru mail and when i applied they denied me butt they pulled equifax from me and i also live in texas weird then again different cards i believe thats why they pulled ur trans instead of equifax
I'm sorry to hear that! It's interesting that they choose to pull from different bureaus person to person, even if they're in the same state. Thanks for the data point though!
I wish I could apply now and get the 75K bonus; I was just approved for the Premier in August and got the sign-up bonus, so I wouldn't get approved for the Strata Premier.
@@itsofficialj that is very true. My Strata Premier just came in the mail yesterday, too. I'm happy with the new card, but I also want the elevated bonus.
That would be nice if they'd let you get another bonus on it, but since they're auto-product-changing people to the new version, unfortunately that's not possible this time around. I hope you like the updated version though!
10X for the hotel $500 spend makes sense once per year. I found hotels in Argentina much cheaper on the Citi portal than direct through the hotel app, and I get $100 off that lower price.

You can add the Ink cards as they are business cards. They don't reflect on your personal side. I have all of the ink cards and World of Hyatt business.
Correct! But you'll need to be under 5/24 to get approved for them. Luckily they don't add to your 5/24 count though.
Hold it for a year, down grade to a 2nd Custom Cash, and you will another 5% catagory with no annual fee!
Thanks for making the best video 👍
Could make a more detail vid on how u freeze accounts on the big 3, plus explain the process how u subscribed to the big 3. Mahalo!
@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial any time man! If I’m right I think I have the strata premier schedule for application in 2027 or so
Congrats Spencer!
Thank you so much!
what's citi strata reconsideration line? I got denied :). Any helpful tips what to say to reconsideration for approval?
I followed along with you but unfortunately got auto-denied. :( Off to the recon line I go. I really need this card to unlock my thankyou points haha. Otherwise, I guess I'm applying this Christmas or so XD
Congrats🎉🎉🎉 what’s the next move ?
I appreciate you man! I'll have to think about that. The roadmap needs an overhaul now!
another banger Spencer, thankyou
I appreciate that!! Thanks for watching!
Nice dub! Would love to get the CSP someday down the roadmap!
Thank you! I hope you get it too!
That was so cool Spence!!! 😎😎😎
Thanks so much!
Is Citi as difficult for co branded cards like the American Air cards?
As with most lenders, they're generally more lenient with co-branded cards since they have to partially share that decision with the partner since they have to keep their best interests in mind too.
I got instant approval even at 5/24.
Great job on TH-cam ❤
Congrats on the approval
Thanks Davis!
Congrats on the new card
Thank you brotha!

I got the citi premier around 1yr and 4 months can I still get the welcome bonus if I apply for it
They should have automatically product changed you the the Strata Premier. Citi is known for having a 48 month rule across all their cards meaning you can't get another welcome offer on the same card unless it's been 48 months since you last received the bonus on that card.
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
It did product change, but since technically, I didn't get a welcome offer for the strata. Do you think that might be loop around ?
@@jimmyhernandez1016 Unfortunately not based on the data points I've seen. Since it's still the same card account they don't consider it a new card.
Did Citi downgrade the offer to 70k? I don't see any 75k offer links anymore.
Not that I'm seeing! Their website still has a 75k offer as of the time of me writing this reply.
@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Thanks. The links on other sites showed 70k but the offer on the Citi website directly is indeed 75k.
What state are you in again If they want transunion????
It varies from person to person and state to state. I read they wanted to pull Equifax in Texas (where I live), but they ended up pulling Transunion instead.
Hey Johnson, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made.
I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and repurpose your long videos into highly engaging shorts? I can also make high CTR thumbnails for your channel
Happy 5/24 Day Sir! 😁
i applied once for the custom cash because i was targeted for that card thru mail and when i applied they denied me butt they pulled equifax from me and i also live in texas weird then again different cards i believe thats why they pulled ur trans instead of equifax
They will change ur premier card to the strada automatically. They did to me and I got the premier back in October
Congratulations!
Thank you Fred!
Congrats!
Thanks Juan!!
Longer videos are great!
Love to hear it!
Ok thanks
CONGRATULACIÓN 🙌🙌🙌
Thank you so much!
I got denied instantly that really hurts
That happens to the best of us! You can always try their reconsideration line if you want, but Citi isn't always the most forgiving.
Congratulations
Thank you!
Congrats
Thank you brotha!!
10X for the hotel $500 spend makes sense once per year. I found hotels in Argentina much cheaper on the Citi portal than direct through the hotel app, and I get $100 off that lower price.
Agreed! I plan on trying sout omething similar to that this year.
I don’t see it worth while applying for any Citi cards with my current set up… I’d rather wait until next year and apply for a CSP card…
Fair enough! Definitely not for everyone, but I'm glad to have completed my setup with them for now so I can think about other lenders again.
