A voice like Hadley`s only comes round every few decades or so, it cannot be explained or replicated. It makes the hairs on the back of your neck tingle. You can't teach that and you certainly cannot better it.
Tony has the voice, the looks, the charisma and star power . He was what made the songs brilliant. I was reading his autobiography recently which was an eye opener about Gary kemp. Tony is doing just fine without them now, whereas they will never be the same without Tonys power velvet voice. I wouldn’t go to see them in concert, but I would definitely be there to watch gorgeous Tony.
Whilst I agree about Tony's voice , someone who writes songs and plays instruments are equally as important to a band ..not sure what's gone on with the Kemp's.. tbh

Hadley is the sound of Spandau ballet even if he didn't write the songs same as fergal Sharkey was the sound of the undertones, couldn't imagine Duran Duran without Simon le bon.

The Kemps are liars they do know why Tony left the band. He hasn't said a lot but said it was the way they treated him. Tony has never needed the band but they need him. Tony is amazing live and his concerts are fantastic. We saw him on his 40th Tour with an Orchestra and it was superb and in March 24 he did his Swing Tour and that was also superb. We have seen him with SB and many times without and he still has a fantastic voice and the TH Band and Lily are fantastic to. ❤❤❤❤
I think you are probably right, the kemps know why Tony Hanley left the band. Kemps I also find ,are a pit of a show-off.
Tony is a lovely genuine man and when we met him in Liverpool he was a gentleman and he has a lovely personality. It's sour grapes with the Kemps because they tried to continue to be SB but without Tony they have no chance. I have booked tickets today to see him in Manchester in December at the new arena Co-op live. He's touring with Culture Club but we are mainly going to see the big Tone. He was amazing last March on his Swing Tour. I have never been in to Swing music but Tony changed that.
No one can sing those Spanda songs except Tony Hadley.

Hadley's voice left such a mark on the Spandau songs that you simply can't replace him ,
like INXS never worked without Hutchence .Lucky for them Hadley is still alive so the ball in in their court if they want to .

@@JX1900XJ Don't know the exact details but like most things in life, it's about money - in this case royalties share. Although that's the official reason, it's obvious there was some bullying going on
Watching this now make them look ridiculous. Only one who‘s sincere is Steve. The Kemps know they caused Tony‘s departure. I‘m glad Tony is doing pretty fine with his fab TH band!

I agree there are some vocalists that just can't be replaced Tony is definitely one. Form another band but don't call it Spandau Ballet. I suppose they could always call it The Kray brothers blues explosion.

Fine - Gary created the songs . . . They were songs till Tony Hadley made them hits. It’s Tony who gives life to these songs on his tours and festivals. Oh - And didn’t two of those interviewed here were involved in the court action against Gary for a share of royalties ?? Without Tony Hadley, The Kemp brothers are actors, the others are sessional musicians.

Gary Kemp has always been jealous of Tony’s looks and voice, yes he wrote the songs and deserves credit for that but to always try upstage Tony and be jealous of his popularity has destroyed so much joy for the fans and missed songs we could have had!!

This is what you get when you left Tony out of the royalties. Serve the Kemp brothers right, I hope Tony never returns as he’s doing just fine without SB. Funnily enough I heard Tony on the radio a few days ago and he sounds like a really down to earth, nice guy unlike these wankers.
I‘ve met Tony a few times, he‘s really nice indeed.

I have watched many interviews of Tony and he always comes across as a decent guy....the honest truth is no one really wants to see / hear Spandau without Tony out front and they all know that...

Can't stand John Keeble 'we'll get someone better !! ' Wouldn't have been hard to find a better drummer than him . Read in an an interview with Gary Kemp , that he though Keeble was bang avarage
John Keeble was almost fired for being a bad drummer while he was in Spandau and in LA, when he was drumming on Tony's solo album, the producer wanted to get rid of him as well. If Tony hadn't fought for him, he wouldn't have had a job for decades. To say they're going to find somebody better with a real slap in the face especially from John.

John played in Tony‘s solo band for about thirteen years (after Spandau broke up). You would expect a bit more gratitude towards Tony from him.
Gary is so bitter, he's the songwriter but there is only one person who can bring his songs to life and that's Tony Hadley.
He finds that hard to accept
Poor Steve. The only one who‘s sincere. He obviously doesn‘t like the ‚jokes‘ the others make. It makes him feel uncomfortable.

No Big Tone?? Its not the same. I dont buy it. If I was them I'd try to figure something out. If they had issues then go fix them. Its not hard be adults and figure stuff out!! Big Tone doesn't seem like a bad guy. He was the lead singer.
Tony is a very nice guy. He has his own fab TH band. They’re all very good musicians and lovely people as well. Tony will never go back to Spandau. He’s much happier now and he’s busier than ever. It’s their loss. Gary and Martin seem to be doing well, but Steve is struggeling to get some work. He’s the only one who really misses his friends from Spandau.
We paid for the Meet & Greet 2 years ago with Tony. He is down to earth, funny and lovely. He even picked up my walking stick and told me he liked my top. A couple we were talking to, told us they were on a Jet2 flight to Italy and he was sat behind them. They chatted to him and he asked if they wanted tickets to his concert. ❤

Tony doesn't want to return to SB. He is touring all the time and has a fantastic band of his own. He still has a fantastic voice. He is currently touring and his tour is Swing which I don't usually like but I love Tony singing it.

Yep. As Tony once said; who needs enemies when you got friends like that. John Keeble was in Tony‘s solo band for many years. Would have been without work if it wasn‘t for Tony. Only nice guy on that couch is Steve Norman. Rest of them: 🤮

Everyone knows Gary Kemp was the main talent in the band but Tony was the frontman singer who can’t be replaced.
Gary Kemp has a lot of talent, but so do Tony and Steve
they know exactly why Tony left but didnt want to mention it!, it was all about royalties and they stabbed him in the back.
It wasn‘t all about royalties. It was about being able to make your own decisions. In Spandau it has always been Gary who decided everything. Tony had been a solo artist for a very long time, because Gary had enough of Spandau in 1990. He didn‘t want to be treated like an employee by Gary anymore.

They‘ve tried it with another singer, but they soon found out people only want Tony to front the band. Tony‘s solo career, on the other hand, is going really well. He doesn‘t need Spandau at all.
Not true. The boys have a summer residency at Butlins :Minehead and if it goes well,they might get Butlins @ Cleethorpes, as well ,supporting Stephen Mulhearn....

I never was interested in Queen after Freddy died because not the same and if someone else singing the songs then its not the same, you need the same singer, no one can be someone else, unless they get someone that can mimic Tony's voice and anyway when they all get to old to do it, they be replaced by AI cause ABBA done it already with AI avatars holograms, I do not see the point of that too, not my cup of tea, you go to see them live to see them, not as 4 avatars, might as well watch it on a VR Headset... :)

I know where you are coming from but I've seen concerts of Queen with Adam Lambart and I've got to say he was brilliant,will never replace Freddie no one could,but I would recommend anyone to go see them .

It all stems from money or rather the lack of it to certain members of the band . A cautionary tale of the pitfalls of being in a band and how key players won't budge an inch on royalties.
You can swap a drummer or guitarist for any similarly skilled musician and nobody will notice, but take the singer out of the equation and you are dead in the water.These guys apparently bullied their singer for years and basically forced him out yet they were sitting here so smugly thinking for some reason that they are not a karaoke version of what they used to be. Didnt last, no surprise.
