@John Skinner Fishing sorry if you've been asked this before but have you considered mounting a polarized filter on your gopro to help with seeing below water surface? There are a few awesome enclosures that allow for a typical camera filters to be threaded on. Anyway, thanks for the great vids!
Great video! That water is amazing! Your 100% correct, most people give Albies away. Shame, because they fight great & are a beautiful looking fish. **Those Hogy Lures are also outstanding for Bonitos and Mackerels.
If theres one thing that turns my screws, its fall time. Thats when I get these badboys. Great educational video as always. I usually use the regular epoxy jigs but those look tempting. Im gonna have to get some of those when I get to the vinyard.
Awesome stuff as always John! Man one of these days the thousands of hours I spend on Google Earth and the hundreds of hours I spend trying to triangulate your position from your footage is going to pay off. Lol... The Hogys (Hogies?) are great. I have been using them for Albies for the last two seasons. And I actually swap out the treble with the same size as the Deadly Dicks. The 35g is the way to go for surf casting (I haven't gotten one from Terra firma yet though), but when I'm on the boat runnin' & gunnin' I use the longer (lighter) ones. Obviously you don't need the distance from the boat and my hope is that the bigger profile will attract bigger footballs. It's just sad to see my Deadly Dicks gathering rust.
Hi John, another great video. What's the trick to finding these fish from shore? I drove all the way to Shinnecock inlet from Philly and got skunked I'd love to not have that happen again! Thanks, I'm a big fan of your books!
I wish we could hook up to these silver bullets like this in Hawaii. That’s a great eating fish over here but mostly caught trolling on boats... but they do come up occasionally from shore rare tho! Anyway nice vid👍🏼
Sometimes when they are feeding on super small bait like bay anchovies, peanut bunker or silversides, that's where the fly rod can come into play very well throwing small 2-3" flies that imitate the bait really well. Try "boyles bunny" a fly designed by a guy right here on Martha's Vineyard
Have you tried eating albies or false albacore yet ??? you might like it . It is a bit like the lure , no harm in trying something else.. And if you know your going to catch and release why drag it up onto the stones..
I just returned from an albie charter. While the fish were chasing bay anchovies we murdered them with Albie Snax but after they found the peanut bunker and herded them into coves they would not touch _any_ artificial we threw at them.
Is there any sort of beach structure that would attract these fish? Are they accessible from any north shore beach (provided they are in the area to begin with)?
John, I notice when you are retrieving that your bail is moving much slower than the rate at which you're turning the handle. Is that normal for the Clash? I never used one but was thinking of getting one for exactly what you're showing in this video.
That's actually an optical illusion. The bail is spinning faster than the video framerate will show. It's similar to the illusion of seeing spokes on a hubcap go backwards when a car is going forward.
I never really cared for deadly dicks because I feel they don't cast well. Caught lots of albies with regular Ava 007's. I'll give the. Hogys a shot next time.
John Skinner Fishing American and canadian albacore is preferred for it's low mercury compared to other tuna. I've watched you tube videos of people eating it and it's quite good.
I've also had one battered and fried whole in Praya Grande in Brazil after helping the fishermen drag in his net. Dry compared to the anchovi but good.
I've seen someone catch it and bleed it immediately while on ice. The trick appears to be immediate bleeding and ice it in saltwater, no fresh water at all during this process. Cook as you please after that.
Hi John, I’ll be trying some albie fishing next week and was curious what kind of know you use to tie your deadly dick to your leader? And is it the same knot for the Hogy lure?
What I do: 20 # braid to 3-ft leader of 20# seaguar clear fluorocarbon. Braid is connected to leader through a small high-quality Tsunami barrel swivel. Palomar knots all around.
Amazing water.
ThresherFishing we don't get this kind of water in Texas.
Honestly I've taken the water clarity for granted. I'm just used to it. I won't take it for granted anymore.
Watching these videos on TV.
Better than any fishing series except addictive fishing.
Great video as always John. Learned a lot by watching your videos
Absolutely beautiful location and clear water. What a rush about 8:25 when he starts that run. You actually see the fish go by at about 8:31. Sweet.

Where are you fishing clear water like that? Can't be North East coast, never seen water that clear on the north east coast.

Sure your not in the Bahamas? North shore looks clean.
Absolutely the best fishing videos!!!!!!!!!
John,is the water warm where you are fishing,as it looks very inviting !.
Regards from a limey b over the pond.
Love that sound at 8:32. What a missile! Great video
Hello mr skinner I have a question on beaches that have lots of rocks on them should I use poppers or spooks? Thanks
I love that beach, havent been there in a while but seing that makes me wanna go this weekend.
What beach is that? Never seen a beach on long island that pristine!!
Nuttin better than hearing a reel drag screamin!

So thats where Lowes get their bags of pebbles from. Very nice pebble beach!
Can't wait to try out you tips.. great video, as usual!

Andrew McCombs check the tides wind and know water condition

stunning venue!
what rod would you recommend to use bucktails in a river for striper and albies?
PiggishPaul what river can you catch stripers AND Alvie's in?
Tica 9' 1/2-3 oz rods are great for albies, will handle smaller stripers. Btw I can think of a few rivers off the top of my head.
Patrick Lester Here in Maryland a lot of rivers have some Stripers run up into the rivers connected to the bay.
Nice vid Hogy makes some great stuff but very pricey. You should try there Squinnow jig.
John I was fishing today and I lost 3 lures. I usually snap the line while casting it. Do you have any recommendations to tie the jig.
Palomar knot is what I use.

I love your videos Mr Skinner, I just want to say that I strongly believe you should be using a left handed bait caster when fluking 🤔
Hey John, how much longer will the Albies be around on Long Island? Great vid as always thanks.
5 weeks.
Best producing tide on the southshore beaches you fish for the early fall bass run?
Have you tried eating albies or false albacore yet ??? you might like it . It is a bit like the lure , no harm in trying something else.. And if you know your going to catch and release why drag it up onto the stones..
Beautiful spot man...
I just returned from an albie charter. While the fish were chasing bay anchovies we murdered them with Albie Snax but after they found the peanut bunker and herded them into coves they would not touch _any_ artificial we threw at them.
Amazing fishing! I wish there were surf albies in California 😅
what months are these fish around? can u catch them around thanksgiving?
Great video John. How long do you think these Albies will stick around?
Also, what do you think about the lighter versions of this lure in regards to casting?
Is there any sort of beach structure that would attract these fish? Are they accessible from any north shore beach (provided they are in the area to begin with)?
east of hortons point only i say
Great video .. would a tsunami shield work ? I know a a high speed reel
Yes.
Hey John Skinner I have a really nice spook that I want to use but will fish bite topwater in october?
Thanks, Stripers are what I am going for.
Spooks are generally good for calmer water but should produce! Tight lines
Wow you make me buy this lure. Thanks brother keep updating be safe God bless
Great video! How do you like the Penn Clash?
Love it. Not a great dunking reel though. I'd use a slammer 3 if it was to get submerged.
I second john, like he said its not for dunking but its amazing, light and powerful. By far one of my best reel buys
great video as away

Water still warm Johnny ??
Damn that water is crystal clear, which state is that in if you don't mind me asking?
NY
John are you tying direct to the flours or using a TA clip ? Thanks
direct
Congrats on 50k
Hi John, What kind of knot do you use to tie to the jig?
palomar
they are good eating if you remove the dark fat line
John Coppola good ta know!
@Ny Jeep Adventurer soak the filets overnight in milk
That looks a whole lotta fun :-)
Do you use a barrel swivel when fishing for albies or tie the leader directly to the braid?
Yes. A small 100# Tsunami Centro or 80# SPRO.
What conditions do u feel brings them close to shore?
Nice mr skinner your the best
Wow ever since I start fishing In saltwater, I never see saltwater this clear.
Great video, thanks!!!!!!!
North shore right or no
How come the false albacore isnt good to eat
I wish you would kayak fish again.
What knot do you use with your leader to anglers clip/hooks?
Palomar.
John Skinner Fishing thanks
Where you fishing
can you eat them things ?

Nice!
North shore??
1:31 "bluefish my a$$". Another classic skinnerism

@@JohnSkinnerFishing Cape Cod is it your region ?

when are you going 4K Mr Skinner?
gary giorgio he just went hd. you're asking for a lot!
lol
John skinner does not follow fish, fish follow him
Where is this?
I want to live that place
I never really cared for deadly dicks because I feel they don't cast well. Caught lots of albies with regular Ava 007's. I'll give the. Hogys a shot next time.
if you like canned albacore tuna you'll love this fish. it's the same thing.
I don't think that's true. These are "Little Tunny". Regular albacore like the offshore guys catch are good eating.
Yeah you're right these are the tunny. but i've eaten one and watch a video of a guy preparing it for his family and I think it gets a bad reputation.
I've seen someone catch it and bleed it immediately while on ice. The trick appears to be immediate bleeding and ice it in saltwater, no fresh water at all during this process. Cook as you please after that.
👍🏼
Screamer!
