Hear me out.. spend £120 on your CBT (which is 5 hours being taught from scratch on a 125 in an empty carpark and has no test). Make sure you use a manual.. and you’ll *N-E-V-E-R* look back 🏆
I’ve owned 2 S1000r bikes the 165hp non M versions, nothing prepares you for the roll on speed at any speed, it’s insane. To be honest way to fast and frightening they scramble your brain. Fab review.
The production quality is what made me stay. I’m more into R bikes, but the filming, angles, grading, spine are all top notch. Like watching a show on HD TV. Excellent 💪🏽👍🏽
That thing sounds phenomenal! No soft limiters, no turbos. Good ol' naturally aspirated combustion and high revs at a time when legislators are taking away all the soul in cars. More bike content please ❤
I recently traded in my 2022 Ducati Monster for the BMW M1000R Comp. The bike is simply amazing. You really do feel like you are riding around an end-game motorcycle. The only negatives are: The stock seat is too hard, there can be vibrations in the handlebars (with risers) and there is a lot of carbon on the bike that are not cheap to replace. I would also suggest getting some Evotech bar-ends for this bike, along with radiator grill.
Having an S1000R in my garage, I've never thought of wanting another fast bike to replace it....until I watched this and saw the look of the M 1000R. It just looks and sounds amazing. I can't imagine what having the extra 40 HP would be like on my current bike. 😬
@@Rwar007 although recently test rode the V2 and V4S StreetFighters, and while the latter was very nice the ride home on my 18 S1000R was very nice too, and the AU$20k+ changeover hard to justify.
great review Rory! i used to ride superbike in my 30s & 40s but have not ridden one for the past 10 yrs or so. In my 50s now, watching this review really bring back memories of my fireblade's days. Thanks for a great review....yeah, nothing is as crazy as a superbike but i dont dare tp ride one anymore.....hmmmm
Firstly mega review by Rory. Great camera work and nailed the ethos of this bike. Took this bike out for a 4 hour demo today and I cannot quite express into words how SAVAGE this machine is. The engine truly is thermonuclear. It’s low speed civility truly lulls you into a false sense of security. Once the shift cam comes on this thing is absolutely ballistic. Categorically way to much for the road. Even the most skilful of street Rossi will struggle to reach this bikes potential on the public road. On a track this thing would be biblical but on the naggery A & B roads of the UK this thing is terrifying. The r1250r I had in for service in every way is a better road bike. Low down torque, forgiving riding position, easy handling and linear power delivery. I am glad BMW make such a machine and I have been fortune to sample but a glimpse of what it is capable of. Unfortunately I do not possess the cohones to even come close of what it is capable of. A super hero I am not. A bike not for the faint of heart.
I put about 1000 miles on one of these bikes and it's by far the scariest machine I've ever been on or in! Good luck keeping the front wheel on the road!
I just did a demo ride and while I agree with the overall review there are 2 items not mentioned: 1. Mirrors vibrate so much that they're useless. 2. Throttle is a little jerky especially when easing off the throttle. According to the demo leader she said that you can get a custom fuel mapping to eliminate the jerky throttle. And as for mirrors I've read in owner groups that an aftermarket bar end weight or replacement mirror helps reduce the vibrations. Mind you, if I could afford it I'd be buying one. But for a $27,000 bike it's not perfect but once you get the 2 issues above worked out it will be an awesome bike!
Someone forgot to tell BMW and Autotrader that the 2004 Yamaha R-1 cracked the magic 1HP to a KG ratio two decades ago, well done beemer, keeping up with the times at least.
Wow, what a gem Rory is 👏 Great car reviews, great family car (on a roadtrip) reviews, and now motorbikes, too? AutoTrader, you got an awesome format. I totally love it! Great one guys, bring some Hondas, too 😀!

Love cars but a do have a soft spot for bikes. Especially sport bikes and the the R 1000 RR. I am very glad to see you riding a bike and enjoy it. Iam past 50 now but if i had the money i would have both a car and a bike. Thanks Rory enjoyed.
Whilst I'd not buy one, or any bike for that matter, it was just enjoyable listen to Rory review it. I could listen to him review sand and I think I'd very happy.
Always we love your videos...one request please make videos on street fighter v4 s, yes I know there are lot of videos on youtube but we are a fan of your presentation. thanks from India.
I had the old S1000R and i loved it. Now i am driving the MT10😊. For me beside the Tuono one of the most emotional bikes. The New M is beautiful but its hard too imagine to have more Fun with it on normal roads. I think that 120 horsepower are perfect for the road, cause fun begins on curvy roads and most likely you dont need more horsepower. You have enough thrill when you know how to drive. But honestly the M1000R is an incredible bike👌. But damn it’s pricey
I had never seen a bike review before, but this looks really exciting! It's like a mini car (wonderful for someone who likes small and light cars) this however, frightens me a little 😶 Like I feel like a car is safer to go fast in 😶 But still! Very cool bike and review!🔥 I want to see more bike reviews! :o
I've had many people comment that it seems unsafe and scary to go "that fast" on a motorcycle. I tell them they can't believe how stable it is. The only ones who believed went for a ride. 😉
I WAITED SO LONG FOR THIS! SINCE THE DOUBLE R1K REVIEW I WAS WAITING FOR THIS. THANK YOU!!! EDIT: yes, that video was 3 years ago - I'm so hyped! WE WANT MORE BIKE REVIEWS! :)
I like this bike but I had a different solution. I bought a 23 S1000RR M for high performance at high speeds and a 2020 VMAX 1700 for when I want to relax with a bit more comfort. Plus the VMAX has traditional cruiser styling which I prefer over a naked bike. A naked bike is basically a roadracer without a fairing and the styling is a mix. I still like the idea of this bike, but without a fairing you are really limited to lower speeds. And if you are limited to lower speeds why not have the cruiser styling? If you want handling and speed its the S1000RR M.
I feel like BMW could’ve easily upcharged the M1000R a bit more than what the starting price is, purely from that M designation alone. Price wise alone, BMW now effectively gives you the same engine in either supersport or hypernaked flavor if you compare it to the base S1000RR. I personally love the looks of a supersport more, particularly the refreshed RR, but there’s no denying the more relaxed body position and wider handlebars make riding around on the street that bit more enjoyable.
There's a reason the engine is rev limited out from the factory until you've gone thru the first break-in period and had the service done. (In the US anyway, YMMV in other countries) It's not only there to protect the engine, but the rider as well. 😀
My last bike was a new 1976 750 triumph bonneville a don’t think I had better get a M1000 to go back bike to my biking days i was in my 20s back then and also had a car License, which I was much better at controlling then my bike so now I’m only a few months of the start of my 70s I had better stay with four wheels to be on the safe side
If you're in the market for a naked bike here's the truth, for the price of the M 1000R , you are better served with a MT-10, which is 8000$ less , the M1000R is unnecessarily powerful for a naked bike , going fast in a naked is uncomfortable, if you want to go fast for 3,000$ less you can get a proper sports bike like the R1 or for the same price you can get a ZX-10R or a CBR1000RR-R , with the CBR1000RR-R you have better performance across the line and its more confrontable to race than a naked
Looks like a great bike, but £20k?! Motorbike prices are becoming crazy. A brand new Suzuki GSX-S1000 is probably just as much fun on the road for half the price?
Rory's a phenomenal auto journalist; best in the business as far as I'm concerned - but I had no idea he was this complete! Love this!

This is the review we needed. Awesome review!
Something i learnt with my S1000RR, for the road leave it in Dynamic. It offers the power but with the comfort of the suspension not being dead hard.
with the M you can set Race Pro with full torque full power and set your suspension to dynamic or even road, you set all settings to full custom

as for me an old 1200cc Japanese bike owner im wondering what 110hp additional horsepower will be like..

It’s mental…and that’s saying coming from a Ducati Streetfighter
