Thank you skot, It's not the Mineral oil are you using Paste wax with it? Mineral oil has no smell.
Charles, I owe you a thousand + 1 thank you's. What you did is what friends do for each other. Again many many thanks. You are 5* all the way.
Wow! Carl your video's are always an inspiration for me...Lot's of great ideas and makes me want to try something new and different! As a newbie, you and your videos have been a great help in answering sooo many of my new woodturning questions... Love the idea of the 'off center holder' for your little medallion...will now have to give it a try. Again, thanks and safe turning to you!
This just popped up out of nowhere. Don't know where it was hiding but it was welcome. Someone else did about this same thing recently. It's an interesting and easy way to do off center turning. Thank you for sharing.🙂🙂
Wow...That was a few years ago :)
Take care,
Carl
Did you have a face plate on it?
Hi Carl! Thanks for the different camera angles. Now you can see tools and work very well. A nice tip for eccentric center. It became a decorating, but it could just as well have been a beautiful natural cleat for a knitted sweater.
Nice idea Carl
Thanks Leonard,
Hi Carl have watched quite a few of your videos, how do you like your new lathe. I am now on my third lathe. I started turning about 13 years ago. I like your projects and the way you show the mistakes as well, it is how we improve by making mistakes. But if you don't try then you will never get better. daviep UK.
The new setup is really nice, the audio too.
You mentioned it in your sharpening video, that spindle gouge is getting down there. What if anything are you going to do with it once it gets to be unusable?
That’s a cool way to do an off center turning! Thanks for sharing man!
Thank you!
Hi Carl i always enjoy your videos but where do you get your paint chips ?? i have tried here in ireland but not thick enough to use i just love the spinning top you made from paint and wanted to have a go myself
Great project Carl, good tutorial. Glad your over the bug you had.
Take care
Mike
Thanks Roman,
Hi Rick,
Yes great idea I didn't think about that. It's Paste wax and Mineral oil. I did a video on it om mt new channel the link is above in the description.
Take care,
Carl
Inspirational way to turn Carl! Thanks again. Like it!
very nice work, nice idea
Great idea and well produced item. The only thing I don't like is the bright blue colour. I think had the paint been different it would have worked a lot better. Just my personal taste but love the work.
Thank you, I worked for Western Star Trucks for 18 years in the paint department. It would build up on the racks and I would cut it off.
Cool concept, Carl. Thanks!
Hi Pete, Thanks for the tips. I only used the audio on the camera above the lathe I need to practice syncing them up better.
Just FYI, the audio-video sync is a off in several places for me.
Interesting method of turning it off-center - never seen it before, but it seems to work well.
Two questions: What orientation is the grain running in the pendant? Given how tightly it fit (which would be required using this method), are there any problems with it splitting or marring when removing it with the knockout bar?
Pretty nice pendant. Funny looking hammer, lol.
That's pretty neat. Ive never seen off-center turning.
hey man, love your stuff. Do you have any methods for removing the smell of the mineral oil from the inside of a box?
Thank you, That would be cool you could probably get some great colors.
Thank you Jan,
Nice video Carl - Great job!!!
Carl, Sometimes I forget to push like on the video. But enjoy them all.
Thank you for the very nice comment. I think you'll have fun with this project.
Take care, Carl
Hi Carl,
Another really handy video, thank you for sharing as I will explain...
I'm intrigued to say the least. I've been trying for weeks to make my wife a nice pendant, but the only thing I've been able to manage is round finished pieces of different tropical wood still hot glued to sacrificial blocks of wood and she refuses to wear them! lol.
If I scale your version down would I still be able to do it with my 2 inch chuck? Plus could you please advise me how to get the pieces off when using Hot Glue? I've tried the metholated spirits I think you call it Denatured Alcohol! But it won't touch it!!! I also tried heating the glue back up in the microwave oven but the olive wood cracked so I haven't tried that again! I think that I could have applied to much of the hot glue! better to be safe than sorry didn't work this time lol.
Please accept my apologies for pestering you with what could be stupid and obvious question's to answer.
Cheers
Andy
Hi Andy, I think for pendants double sided tape is the way to go. I did this video a long time ago. Tape is a much easier way to go.
Take care,
Carl
Hi Carl,
Thanks for replying it's really appreciated. Oh I think that would be a lot easier! I was just watching another video of yours with the off center jig when I heard this reply come through! Spooky lol. On that video you used the pillar drill to obtain the off center holes and showed this jig again with the two jaws taken out of the chuck, and no glue or tape! Can't thank you enough for all the help and advice.
Take care my friend.
Cheers
Andy
Nice job Carl thanks
Thanks Ted,
Thank you Kevin,
CARL, would you consider making a video showing how to remove the head stock and replace it with 4 jaw chuck?
No need to remove the headstock to put on a 4 jaw chuck Jarhead, simply turn the chuck onto the threads where your center would be going at. Make sure htat you have the correct adapter (3/4 or 1") depending on the type of lathe you have or the type of chuck you have. Most lathes come with an adapter anyway.
Great idea!
Thanks Pete, Yes it would I could have marked it the same on both sides.
was that side grain or end grain Carl?
Thank you Oussama,
I have one I just can't find it :)
Hey Carl , thanks for the Great Videos . From the Deep Deep South here ., Southern Oh Hi Ho .
Cool pendant Sir! and nice editing and camera work too! Two thumbs up
Hi Cooper,
I answered your comment on the honey dipper video.
Take care,
Thanks Mats,
Nice,,,,, great little jig for off centering
Dean Cannon Thank you Dean
Thank you,
Carl,
This is way cool. Where do you get the paint chips?
Very nice pendant - I've had to put one on my list to do.
Thanks for the inspiration.
Alan Stratton
One lathe is a Jet 1220 and the other is a Shop Fox. Both are the way they came out of the box.
can you use beewax in the place of pastewax
Really neat video. Thanks for sharing all of this amazing work that you do!
Also, I saw that someone said it was out of focus a lot and hard to watch. That isn't true at all. That person obviously doesn't know what they're talking about. The only reason I can think of for them thinking it was out of focus is that the wood looks that way when it's spinning... Out of focus stuff makes me feel sick, so I would have noticed.
Thank you, I didn't notes it being out of focus ether.
Yes you can do a lot of thing with this.
The 4 jaw chuck just screws on the head stock.
Hello front France, where i Can buy the Chuck ? Thank you.
Hello! I made this chuck a long time ago. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
Take care
@@CarlJacobson thank you 👍
Have a good day 😉
Hey again Carl , make you a wooden mallet on your lathe so you don't louse up your tool handles . LOL From the Deep Deep South again .
Thanks Mike, Ya, not a fun time :( I hope your doing well.
Take care,
Carl
I don't see way not, Let me know how it works.
Nice video as always, i like the camera angels.. / Mats
Hi Timothy, It's end grain,
This is end grain i didn't have any problems with it.
Very nice...
Ya, That might have looked better.
Thanks, oh well maybe next time.
Nice vid, but that was a strange looking "Hammer" ... LOL
I didn't have anything in mind for it.
Nice camera work but I did not care for the pendent at all.
please if you could check the comment on the honey dipper video that wood be nice
the comment is posted by me

Most of the video was out of focus and difficult to watch
