    I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B

    This is a great video. But I will say there are less expensive options to your blue mats. I bought foam from a craft store and a stall mat. I cut the foam and stall mat to size then made a mat with 3 layers, foam/stall mat/foam. It works really well and there is almost no noise when I drop my barbell.

      Garage Gym Reviews Hey Coop, I’ve been told by some gym suppliers in the UK to avoid stable mats as they’re called over here, as it doesn’t dampen much noise and absorb much vibration? I'm starting to build a home gym and was already considering stall mats. What in your opinion is the maximum deadlifting weight you should consider lifting on a stall mat before you should consider putting plywood or double layering stall mats to protect cement foundation? Since horses weigh approx. 800-2200 lbs. or 362-1000kg I am hoping a single horse stall mat can support the lifting and dynamic movements from potential falls from 100-400lbs or 45-200kg. Btw, in my particular case you're points about platforms were great; but I don't feel like I need a platform b/c I do straight deadlifts and avoid overhead lifts b/c of scoliosis.

    a bit late to the party but awesome video! Just picked up couple pieces of stall mat for a relatively decent price but got a question... would you (or you guys) recommend putting some stiff/hard carpet underneath? I know there has been concerns over the carpet might make everything feel squishy especially since these stall mats are textured underneath... Was just trying to see if this can be a good way to combat the the fact that these stall mats might move around.... (since carpet is much easier to tape/glue down to the concrete in my garage)

    I am considering using this flooring and most likely going to cover a 9’ x 22’ area.
    Question 1.) Do you think I should still epoxy coat my entire concrete garage floor as I had planned on before laying down the horse stall mat material?
    Question 2.) do I need to use an adhesive to make them stay? I will need to cut the material to make them fit I think. The remaining area of my garage will be used for typical garage activity, home improvement projects, tool storage, etc.
    Concerned with the transition area from mat to bare concrete being a trip hazard or Coming up. Maybe I should just cover the whole floor with the horse stall mats then🤔 anyone with thoughts please chime in with suggestions... thanks

    Hey, looking to install some 1m x 1m tiles this weekend and wanted some advise. The garage is 2.5m wide by 4m and wanted to know if it was best to lay them square in line starting in the corner or start with a middle row and work from there. Also would it be best to keep them in line or lay rows out by half a tile. Appreciate any feedback. Cheers

    Had our pound pads for about a year now...still work well but they have developed noticeable divots and the absorption/sound reduction has definitely worsened from when they were new. As I understand it they were coming out with a new and improved pad next year...

      Aww, that's unfortunate to hear. Hopefully the durability increases.

    Nice video. I have a question, can you stretch in that surface without needing a mayt?

    Hey man, im currently building my Gym out and have a question about the flooring. I have stall matts but I'm still concerned about the foundation. I bought some pound pads, but don't really like lifting off of them. Do you think adding 2 layers of carpet pad, then 3/4 plywood, then the stall matts would be better? Or just unnecessary.

    Hi, I'm new on this channel. I'm currently fixing an old small room where I'll fit a rack and a bench.
    My biggest issue right now is that the floor has a small curvature, it's not totally flat. Would a platform be better for that? What do you recommend (the floor has ceramic tiles already).

    Hey Coop, can you get your hands on Titan's new Silencer Drop Pads? Interested in how they compare to the Pound Pads.

    I went all out on my floor. 3mm underlay., half inch plywood, another 3mm underlay then 15mm stall mat.

    How do you feel about that horse matt flooring if most of my working out is plyometric, sport type work? I will be lifting also, but this is really going to be my space to do everything. I was looking into the Regupol flooring also.
    Thanks!

    The problem with stall mats is the smell. I had read about it but didn't realize how bad it would be until I had them in my car! It fades with time but I still have to air the garage when I workout many months later.

    Titan Fitness just came out with the Silencer Pads, clones of the Pound Pads for 3x less. Would be interesting to see a comparison and long term durability shootout!

    Coop, do you do anything to secure your stall mats? I just got my home gym stuff from Black Friday from rogue and started working out. Rowing on the erg and doing burpees seems to move my mats.

    • @GarageGymReviews
      @GarageGymReviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I didn't because they're wall to wall, which secures them. You could use carpet tape underneath the mats to keep them together though.

    hey coop, have u noticed any difference in the quality of stall mats? the ones i got from tractor supply seem pretty crappy -- the edges that were trimmed to fit my rack shed small rubber particles and the area that i deadlift on shows wear and also has some rubber particles that i need to clean up after every workout. my buddy's stall mat (same dimension) seems more like yours (higher density)

    • @GarageGymReviews

      Yes, unfortunately they're all different. Sometimes they good batches, others are thin and warped.

    Coop, have you ever compared Thug Mats to the 3.5” playground tiles? If so, is there a difference? In the materials, construction, or ability to deaden sound? Do the playground tiles work better?

    • @GarageGymReviews
      @GarageGymReviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Thug Mats are much firmer than playground tiles. I wouldn't want to workout on playground tiles personally.
