Για σας από το Μεξικό, κυρίε. I began last month a small food business here at home due the lockdown and I am making Greek food. I knew how to prepare some dishes but I came to search for any other recepts and then I found your channel. You are a big inspiration for me because all the dishes became better and tastier. Hope so you'll read this. Receive from Mexico a hug and a mountain of admiration. Χαιρετισμούς!!
I was looking for this recipe for a long time, finally got it. 8 years ago my college seniors who were from Iran served this amazing dish after their successful P. hD submission final viva. As an Indian, I am a big fan of this dish ever since. Thank you
I can’t get over how much I am 💯just like my dad! We cook the same, we do most things the same which everyone has said my entire life! I taught myself to cook ☺️
That looks so delicious, Aki. Greek and IItalian food are similar, though the procedures and flavours differ. You use a lot of dill, which is not easy to find here in Rome, and cinammon. The star herb in Italy, when in season, is basil. I think Greek basil has smaller leaves. I really enjoy watching you cook. You give plenty of details and tips and make it all look so easy, and you have inspired me to try out your recipes. Thank you!
My mom always made stuffed peppers but i was always a lazy kid i never learned how to cook and now married with two babes omg thanks to akis i get some ideas lol cuz i been walking in the super market and i never know what to buy cuz i never know what i want too bad i moved far from the greek neighborhood cuz the food in their restaurants is always fresh not like others the greeks always care about their food their customers and they always make things fresh and healthy
Hi Akis I was in a village where there was a shepherd who's wife made a pita called Bobota which was made with corn ,butter, goats cheese and those wonderful herbs and many wild xorta in the 1970s and I miss those days as Greece was a wonderful romantic place at that time for me , these things are special in these villages as you can't find the real Greece in the big cities , unfortunately
During those quarantine days watching your video makes me miss my Greek summer vacations. I love Greece! (I’m from Israel) By the way it’s the only video I’ve find that do bot uses a special tool to prepare the stuffed vegetables. Much appreciated! Yamas!
We just got back yesterday from Greece. We had the most delicious gemista at Sifnos by the sea. Am trying out your recipe today! Regards from a Mauritian-French foodie!!!!
Akis, thank you for such a wonderful explanation how to make Greek YEMISTA! It's look and taste so good. I loved to follow your instructions. You should see my husband, he is Greek, when he tried your recipe, he really enjoyed it. THANK YOU SO MUCH again and again:)
In our middle east area we call it (Mahshee) I will try it by this way ,, am addicted to ur channel I found it by accident but am glad with this precious treasure!!! ,, thanks Akis :-)
I've cooked it today. The result: delicious. I've been to Greece so many times but it was only this year I discovered this dish, in an old tavern in Thassos, family-owned business. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks a lot for the recipe Akis. I've tried many of your recipes and my best one is your tartar sauce (because it's far better than most of our Turkish variants). I've never tried to stuff onion and my wife is an addict of cooked onion. It was a good inspiration. With your recipes i could make lots of my raki (ouzo) lover friends to adore my food (Keep as a secret please ;)) Keep in touch. Warm greetings from Neighbour.
We make this kind of food in Bulgaria as well, stuffed peppers and tomatoes. it is literally my favorite dish! Never had onions like that though.. Good enough reason to cook this tomorrow! :)))
We do similar in Poland stuffed peppers with rice onions and ground beef or pork or if you wish any other meat depending your preference and it is lovely. yasas Hellas
I love your videos. It's wonderful to see authentic Greek cooking and some of my favourite recipes cooked so lovingly. My Mother in law was the best cook in the world and we miss her terribly along with her amazing food. Thank you for helping me bring back the memories through food and Greek cooking for my husband and I. I am going to make your Gemista tomorrow night for dinner and looking forward to it. I'm not sure if you already have it up but I'd love to see you cook Loukoumades, Baklava and Spanokopita. Thanks again :)
I made this Gemista a few months ago and it turned out so good. I haven't eaten Gemista this good since my relatives in Greece cooked it for me. Akis' recipe helped me bring Greece home with me. Thank you Akis!
I just love gemista (although i didn't like gemista as a kid :P) ! Both the minced meat version and this one. I really liked your recipe Akis ! Thanks a lot !
Akis, i know this is an old video but gemista is soooo yummy i cant wait for summer to make it. My darling aunty Rania in Athens makes it always in summer 🌞 lots of love 🇮🇹🇬🇷
I'm trying to make me husband eat more vegetables, and this'll be my next try. I remember eating this a couple of years ago in Athens, I've been craving it ever since.
Excellent. ~I like this recipe and yes I will cook it. I usually do stuffed vegetables with a meat or cheese sauce as a side dish. I'm just looking for more traditional Greek dishes I can add to my repertoire. So Dolmades, Gemistas, Mousaka, Spanakopita should make a evening go well. Don't worry I always buy Greek Extra Virgin olive oil and olives.
@@innosanto great, but you dont need to comment that you like meat in something when somebody just said they want to show this their VEGAN friend.. dont be that guy
Beautiful and sexy dish. I never had staffed onions but I used zucchini. So now I will have tomatoes, pepers, onions and zucchini. Dear Akis I like your colourful dishes. They make me smile and happy.
Akis, I really enjoy watching your videos! I am a big fan of the Greek cuisine - your instructions are very helpful. But I am always wondering why you are using so much olive oil :-D Best regards from Kurdistan
Hello Akis! I just want you to know that i love you videos! With that being said I will like to ask if you could make quinoa! I really like it in salads, but i want to know your 2 cents regarding how to make it! Thanks!
Great dish Akis!!! Now I can see that cuisine of Otomanic Empire is actualy Greek. From culture perspective; in Croatia we have mediterranean food mix from italian cuisine, but continental part of country is obiviously mix of greek and austro-hungarian! :) (Y)
+PetrosB4 I watched documentary film about Ottoman empire in which they described arrival of "Turks" in Byzantine(second Rome :)). Turks forced Greeks to left Byzantine but when they realized that they have no "culture" they asked them to return...Backthen Osmanli were just warriors Anyway Its nice to see someone is promoting Greek cuisine-nowdays its just Italian :)
+Ladislav Bago The truth is always in the middle. Yes Ottoman cuisine influenced by Mediterranean cuisine but it worked both ways. Greeks adopted a lot of Eastern styles and not only from Constantinople (and the Greek factor there which later in history immigrated -mostly- to Greece, bringing with them their cuisine already hevily influenced by the East) but straight from the Eastern tribes of the Ottoman empire.

Loved the camera angles and edit on this vid! Very intimidating recipe. Amazing idea for veggies.
Αν και μαγειρεύω δεν είχα καταλάβει πότε πόσο ελαιόλαδο βάζουμε στα στα φαγητά... Όντως πολύ και σε όλα!
The onion is a revelation for me! Also I am so glad you put olive oil everywhere and all the time :)
I really can't wait to try cooking this tonight! Thanks for the great recipe Akis!

This is so beautiful. I love how this looks.
Mmm look yummy 👍🥰 I will try to make
Besides tomatoes and peppers, my grandma also makes stuffed potatoes. It's so amazing...
panoC97 and eggplant is amazing......
dath 2015 Stuffed eggplant? Idk, it doesn't sound that good to me.
eggplant is my favorite.. also you can make zucchini and all king of peppers
Aggeliki L I really dislike eggplants. I only like them in moussaka.
you can do it with the vegetables that you like :)
It looks delicious
bravo👏👏👏(from USA)
Μπράβο Akis. I'd also suggest using baking paper between the food and the aluminum foil.
A ceramic cooking pot with a lid would be optimal.
Chefs kiss!
This looks absolutely delicious! I'm going to share this with my vegan friend. She's going to love it.
For me genista are done with rice and Grinded meat with other herbs.
These are the so called oily gemista when they don't out the meat.
@@innosanto great, but you dont need to comment that you like meat in something when somebody just said they want to show this their VEGAN friend.. dont be that guy
@@joramsim no he was just mentioning that the more known one is with meat, personally im not vegan and i think no meat in it is way tastier
Mmm, the goat cheese compliment's it well
In Azerbaijan we make it with an eggplant instead of onion and we add meat to the filling and it's called "üçbacı dolma" meaning "three sister dolma"
why three sister?
Eggplant it’s so nice should be included beautiful flavour,
Oh my..... That looks so super delicious!!!! So does the food! ;)
I keep on following your recipe and it was best ever...more power to your channel.. ❤️

we have a lot here so we use it!
try it with rice for soups (don't know the name), not the one that makes granular risotto.
it becomes even better (my humble opinion)
Hello Akis!

+Perly395 If you have fresh ripe tomatoes and vegetables and good quality olive oil it is better to let them be the stars of the dish.
