I've seen the gashed up flooring cause more disruption to a fight than the hammers ever could, the arena's obstacles have always been a bit of a joke. I do really enjoy when someone's thrown on the superficial screws and they have to reverse to spit em out though!

I'm kinda happy that the slots exist, they seem to be the only thing making the teams think twice before opting for those ridiculous forks. The Endgame vs Ripperoni match is a perfect example of this.

I think a part people don't get is how dangerous a mini bot ace is, Those little rotating forks on it are such an effective control tool, And the teams 3 pound bot with the same design as ace won the NHRL in its division last year. I can see why Cobalt wanted to take it out as soon as they thought there was an opportunity, just so happened that the opportunity really wasn't there and Jackpot was waay to close for cobalt to get away with turning its back to it
The moment I saw supreme ruler toss around the nhrl house bot I realized the cam lifter design would make for an insane minibot. It's a "weapon" that can punch wayyy above it's weight class.

ACE is really the perfect mini bot. Too dangerous to be ignored but too annoying not to. Attacking the minibot means you will be vulnerable but not attacking it means it will get you high centered eventually. If jackpot can get this dynamic down while working on their ground game, they will be truly keeping the top teams up at night

Cobalts driver just has no direction, and no fire in his belly - you can see it in the way he drives, almost as if he's also waiting for the bot to tell HIM what to do
Goes to show you, you can have a ton of experience, but, then drive a bot you don't have a lot of time driving, no matter how good that bot is, your going to have a hard time against anyone who has some season to them. But Ace, man, i have never seen a mini bot that did anything until it showed up, betting we are going to see a ton of Ace clones next season.
It only got stuck on the floor twice and after it was already on fire for most of the match. Certainly they could use wider forks but don't act like that's what did them in. More armchair roboticists than real ones in these comments.
No, it was purely down to awful driving. Previous Cobalt drivers only lost because of the floor once, and that was because it literally peeled the floor up and got grounded on the large protrusion it created, not because they kept stopping and having to reverse.
unfortunetly for cobalt now people know where its battery is for future competitions. jackpot got the lucky strike here with that hit directly to cobalts battery excelent driving by jackpot

I know it's not easy but chasing the minibot when the major weapon is coming at your rear, then faffing about chasing the main bot over the killsaw slots when you know you're going to get your wedges stuck if you're anywhere other than the centre of the arena... two terrible choices.

Too low to the ground where they can easily get high centered, the spinner way too high unable to have enough reach, and no shrimech (the weapon bouncing on the floor is not a reliable self righting technique as we saw in s3 end game. Even if their weapon is down, at least try & push your opponent or use the hazards instead of immediately surrendering). John hesitancy is what probably cost him here as well. I hope they return in the future improved as ever so they can make a deep run in the tournament

Thesse flaws are all tradeoffs, and can be mitigated by an experienced driver.
But this driver isn't, and it really shows.

@@jonathanf2392 Minotaur has a lot of design choices that would be fatal weaknesses if it didn't have the best driver in the sport.
I think the main issue is it seems to get stuck on the ground. If they fix that it'll be easier to drive.
John is always way to hesitant. Like when he kept hanging back against hypershock when will was having control issues. Than he got split in 2.
