The reason why I listen to audiobooks is because I can‘t stop when reading a physical book and then I let the house keeping slip and feel bad about not doing anything, but I also don‘t wanna get behind with reading and my reading goals.
So like that I‘m able to do stuff other than sit down and read but still get reading done 😌
But I do agree with the fact that you miss a lot when you‘re zoomed out even for a minute!

Loved this video! If you can do it more often, I'm here for it! Also, to add to one of the topics. When I'm trying to motivate myself to read books on my physical TBR, I search videos on youtube of reading vlogs or reviews of people reading those books or I ask my friends to buddy read book with me. It helps to have a hype man or some accountability.

I only tried audiobooks a few years ago. Then two years ago, I got a library ecard that allowed me to borrow audiobooks as well as ebooks, so that made it easier to try them. Most of my audiobook reads have been nonfiction, which I find easier to get through on audio as I can listen while driving, doing chores, or going for a walk. And if you zone out a little, you haven't missed a plot point. Novels I have LOVED in audiobook form were Daisy Jones and the Six (this was multi-casted, and the cast was fabulous; it really felt like you were listening to these former rock stars spilling the drama) and The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo, which is a novel in verse so the performance sounds like slam poetry but tells a story.

Definitely feel similarly on audiobooks. I think my worst habit with them is that I tend to mainly seek out the audio version if I’m having a hard time getting interested in the book. Not disliking it to the point that I want to DNF it, but just want to hurry and finish it so I can get into something else. So when I’m listening to something that I’m already not loving, it makes it harder to focus and enjoy the audiobook since I already kinda tend to zone out if I’m listening to fiction. I do like listening to nonfiction though, maybe because in the ones I’ve listened to, the author is the one narrating it so it kinda makes me feel even more connected to them since I’m not only reading their life story, I’m listening to them tell it too. And there have been a couple fiction audiobooks I did enjoy, like fairly recently I had my hold come up for 11/22/63, but it was the day before I was hanging out with my bestie (who I lovingly refer to as my book dealer because she always loans me awesome books to read when she’s finished them) and when I have books of hers I try to prioritize reading those so I don’t keep her books forever and just didn’t have the time to commit to a book that long , so decided to try the audiobook instead since it was available through Spotify. I loved it, didn’t zone out a single time and actually feel like I soaked up enough to talk to someone about the book and make sense, contrasting to others where I feel like I didn’t absorb anything. But I’m not judgy about audiobooks either, people are busy and just sometimes don’t have time to read a physical book, but they may have a longish commute and can listen to a couple chapters of an audiobook a day on their way to/from work. I’d definitely rather they do that than miss out on these awesome stories because they didn’t have the time (or desire) to devote to reading a physical book.
Also same on physical books vs ebooks, I love both and hop between the two pretty frequently. Also go through phases like you said where sometimes I just want to read an ebook (considering getting a Kindle at some point, I usually just use the Kindle app on my iPad, but love how much more compact the Kindle seems to be) and then other times I just want the feel of a physical book in my hands. My vision isn’t great though, so I think my favorite thing about ebooks is that I can do things like increase the font size, do white letters on a black background, etc to make it more comfortable to read, especially for longer periods of time. Loved this chat! ❤

I recently started to listen to audiobooks. I do just sit and listen to them as opposed to reading them while doing chores, exercising, or other activities. I find my comprehension is just as good as while reading physical books or eBooks.
I don't like the uneven edges either. For the reason you said. They make turning pages difficult.
I have StoryGraph. I recommend it if you really like stats. I am a numbers person, so I love all the numbers StoryGraph provides. I recently joined a couple of book clubs on Fable. So far, Fable appears really good for book clubs. It permits chapter by chapter commenting. It does provide the ability to record your reading progress. It lets people import their Goodreads books. It doesn't provide this ability for StoryGraph users.
I like this type of video and would like to see more if you are able to record and edit the videos.
