I want to live in the world in Zealand's head where a linesman in the 4/5 division in Wales gets payed 50 bucks for a match.
Football is basically 100% pay to play in the US - this assumption is not unusual here.
Mate gets a beer after the game
Come to America. My Niece gets about $50 that for reffing women's U18 games.
@@shaneg9081the refs get paid but the linesmen don't usually
@@bhvillaman4401Yes they do? Unless things changed after the pandemic, but I got paid for plenty of assistant ref jobs before it when I still refereed.
when I said I wanted the Welsh pyramid to get more attention, this is not what I meant.
Please be more specific next time.
@@renerpho 😂
💀
Let's be honest, nobody wishes any attention on the Welsh pyramid
@@bhvillaman4401 I do, why wouldn't I?
The linesman is a 17 year old player from the opposition team. They were down a linesman and he was just filling in apparently.
He said this exact phrase in the video thanks
I played at low levels for nearly 40 years, you only ever got two linesman if you reached a cup final. It was always a sub from each side.
Edit….This will be a lifetime ban from all organised football in Wales at least.
Sounds about the level of impartiality we get in the premier league
Welsh translator here. The rough translation (a few words are slightly different but that’s to be expected) is pretty much a lot of people screaming “ay” as a normal reaction until the ref states “red card, you made that child fall harder than Zealand fell off (8 views in 10 minutes)
According to an ITV article from today, someone has been arrested in relation to this incident:
North Wales Police arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with the alleged assault and has since released him on bail pending further enquiries. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
North Wales Coast Football Association (NWCFA) confirmed that it knows about the claim but could not comment.
Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Gibson of North Wales Police said: “Our investigations into the incident are ongoing.
“We are liaising closely with North Wales Coast Football Association and urge people not to speculate or further share footage which is currently being circulated on social media to avoid potentially prejudicing any legal proceedings.”
'or further share footage' lmao
@@coxxey6673 Oooops 🤣 Now the entire world knows.
Always bloody wales 😂
Even if the entire jury doesn't see the clip until they have him on trial, bro is still getting a sentence 😂
Fun fact about the town of the club that the person who slapped the linesman is from, Lemmy from Motörhead went to secondary school there.
That's information I pay my internet bill for
I played a match I senior football in a team (no team in the league gets any money) I was 17 and tackled a guy a bit late and the other man about 30 years old got up and grabbed me by the neck and threw me on the ground. Non professional meant to be playing for fun can be dangerous for these aggressive weird people
I get what you’re saying and agree, but, what i would say I now realise as a 37 year old bloke who plays Sunday League is that some little shit two-footing you at worst, just coming in late at best, can cause an injury that means you miss time with work.
I had some kid, maybe 18/19 years old, two-foot me last season and broke 2 bones in my foot, meaning I could barely walk on it and my job requires me to be on my feet. So I lost pay as a result because some little shit took a Sunday league game too seriously.
I think that’s the kind of thing when you’re younger you don’t think about because I did the exact same thing when I was that age.
@@NJTRAF I know but I just clipped him and pulled out of the slide takle and also his team was winning.
I just think he was a bit insane for such a strong reaction
Bashing on The New Saints is worth it. They were originally called Llansantffraid F.C but sold their soul in 1996 when they become TNS. They didn't become The New Saints until 2006, for 10 years they were called Total Network Solutions. They actually sold their soul so much they changed their club name to be that of their sponsor.
At Amateur levels in the UK it is quite normal to have an opposition player running each line, Normally below a certain level the Referee is the only person assigned to the game by the League.
Or a random fan. I remember being asked to run the line as a spectator once in my jeans and hoodie.
That never happenes in Germany because the opposition player is clearly biased.
We often only have one referee who reckons offside.. which doesn't work so well either
Looking at the way the linesman is dressed he a club linesman, probably a substitute or a substituted player. In the UK (and probably elsewhere) three officials are only appointed down to a certain level and below that only a referee is appointed and both clubs provides a person (normally a player, coach or player's family member) to run the line at the end their team is defending. That person is interchangable so the victim in this case would have played or was due to play in the match.
Thats the colour of a standard ref kit
ok my bad, i thought it was a yellow jersey with red sleeves (which as i said i have seen often as standard ref kit colours), but it seems its just a red jersey and a bright yellow sleeveless shirt over it, the yellow shirt looks like the kind people wear in training sessions. You might be right, that it's improvised.
@@Jonathanizer the linesman was a substitute of the opposing team and hey filled in because there weren’t enough linesmen
@@helderwan-kenobi7310 yep, saw it at the end of the video, was commenting during...
Thank you Zealand for covering this! As a Welshman who’s played the lover and upper divisions, I can say we always have a young kid on the line when they are on the bench, and it’s always a fear the abuse they take! It shouldn’t be the case! This is a huge case in wales now. It’s shocking!
(Also, I also really really really really hate TNS, they are ruining the Welsh prem!)
Supposedly the linesman is a 17 year old player for the opposing team Penrhyn, who was a substitute or wasn't being used, so was running the line.
Guy that's done it apparently has been arrested and bailed so at least seems police have gotten involved quick.
Mental stuff. Guy should get jail time nevermind a lifetime ban.
As someone who played in the lofty heights of Division 9 of the FA leagues at the end of his football career, I had to run the line twice as a sub, one of those being for the second hald after getting injured in the first half and being subbed off. It ain't glamous down in the doldrums!
Even then, had fans abusing everything I did, including our own teams fans if I gave an offside against my own teammates. It sucks and no one wants to do it, hence the standard of officiating in the UK at the moment!
It’s pronounced something like “Am-LUCK”, but with the k in the back of the throat. A w in Welsh is a vowel, usually a u or schwa.
Imagine nottingham forest social media admin did this to the var in charge 😂😂😂😂
Should have considering how badly they botched the obvious pen call
the police have arrested him and the club sacked him, but everyone is volunteer at the club
Z, I love everything you're putting out at the moment. keep em coming man!
Only time wales is famous
welcome to Wrexham might have something to say about that
Welsh domestic league then
This is becoming the Penguinz0 of football. Take from that what you will.
The two guys who come across and fend off the orange team - I'm not sure whether they're just protecting the guy rather than also going after him like wtf, or whether they're trying to diffuse a possible riot
NGL the new saint's logo is like as if my kindergarten student would draw up.
The crazy thing is before the video was released the 17 year old in question posted on reddit / legal advice UK asking what he should do without providing any footage.
Once footage was provided pretty much everyone said open and shut man's going right to gaol.
Guarentee thats a sub running the line
Hey, people are dumb. I was working at McDonald's when the happy meal toy was a beanie baby, and I had a guy jump across the counter and punch me because we didn't have the one he wanted. Just assume everyone is one word away from punching you at any given moment. It's safer that way.
wtf that’s wild
Shoulda sued
the fact the coach didn't get glassjawed is insane.
"the fist of goodness" - did we just get an insight into Z's personal life? 😳
This can also be a youth team match. It's very normal in Europe that subs are linesmen in youth leagues and lower senior teams. But it's also very normal that things get a little out of control because of that, unfortunately.
I love this intro
Allegedly, the kid posted on reddit about the situation asking for legal advice. He got a concussion and a tooth displaced
But Zealand, you ravishingly relatable rascal, the linesman got in his way.
5 bucks says it’s Turkey
Nvm it’s wales

Well, you lost...You owe me 5 bucks now. ( Please. I need that 5 bucks. I am from Turkey and inflation is INSANE here! )
Zealandism and coffee time.
One thing the linesman didn't do right. When the last man crosses midfield the linesman is supoosed to stay at midfield because that becomes the new "last man"
Source: Me an Intermediate referee able to do up to youth U17 as a main referee
I was thinking he had crossed the line
In Bosnia they locked up ref inc changing room
Just another day in Wales. 🤣
What gets me is the guy NEXT to him, the one with what looks like an open black tracksuit jacket over a white shirt. Just looks at what happened and is like "Eh, I've seen worse". Or the other guy who you see step in as everyone else is coming over and he just starts waving his hand like "No no no no no don't worry about it, nothing weird happened here."
This guy legit has a support structure around him that seems to be IN FAVOR of what he did. That's just as vile in my eyes.
10:31. "on whoever this guy is"
WTF? I think the photo you showed of the 5 coaching staff at 7:54 , I could pretty easily pick him out of that line up.
Second from right Rob Williams Jones. There I said it! Sue me!
Bold to assume they pay refs at that level
7:56 it has to be the big fat guy on the right
Obviously
I see, i click
TNS f/k/a Total Network Solutions are the MkDons of Wales
ogs remeber the original title
This guy clearly wasn’t a trained linesman, they never pass the half way line
The Welsh 4 division is the true farmers league
Thats not even a linesman thats a linesboy
Jeez. The team isn't even from a vanilla FM Welsh League.
He probably hit the player due to them beating his team so badly. At that exact moment though you wanted something that could of "set him off", he was technically 5 feet beyond the halfway line which he should of stopped at as assistant referees only run a half of the field not the entire line, (could of blown an offside call). Still nothing justifies this incident and that coach, if he has badges, needs them removed as well.

teen is not a child is a teen
Idk man, I've seen a few people punching others (sometimes strangers) in the face under different contexts and they're praised for it.
Yo what's the lore with Zealand and The New Saints?
He had a Welsh save in his early streaming days
TNS will always be Total Network Solutions IDC
You'd be lucky to get 50 bucks from the top tier as a linesman in wales
1:21 sorry but that's not true. TNS (Total Network Solutions) was based in Wales and merged with Oswestry Town in England. Total Network Solutions have historically always been a top team, but yes, maybe they join the National league North and challenge themselves... And forget about European football
Run rn
Have you gone on a run yet? 😅
Clicked in 3 minutes.
The linesman was handling a dangerous weapon, the average leftback get's assaulted with a referee flag scores of times over his career, you know?
The welsh is not extremely different to pronounce to be honest, "w" makes something like a hoarser "u" sound. And the ending "ch", makes something like "kh" sound.
PS: Not a welsh person here, but if it is true, that shows welsh is not incredibly hard to learn.
You're right in principle, as Welsh pronunciation is 100% determined by its orthography (unlike, say, English, French, or even German, the latter of which is *almost* as easy). But Welsh has some pronunciation rules that are quite exotic, at least if all you know is one of the other languages I mentioned.
tbf there's no phonetic equivalent to ch or Ll in english
@@striderwhiston9897 Yes, but when you see a "ch" or "ll" in a Welsh word, at least you can tell exactly what sound it makes (even if you cannot produce it).
When you see a "ch" in English, it could make all kinds of sounds (including, in a few loan words, the same sound as in Welsh).
The lino looks like a player, players often end up as linesman during matches, but this is just not on. Hope the Welsh FA gets rid of this “man”
Why is it the second I saw this I immediately thought…. Turkish league. To my surprise it wasn’t this time lol.
There was also a post in the r/legaladviceUK subreddit by the linesman (who got punched) and he was asking about his legal options against this knobhead of a coach.
Wow, according to him he has a concussion and a busted tooth. Hope he gets some restitution.
50 bucks to be a lino in Welsh tier 4? Hahaha, I used to film matches for a team in the 2nd tier and got paid £10 a match. I don't think the poor lad is getting anywhere near 50
I really wonder why it reminds me on Jürgen Klopp's CL match against Naples with his BVB in September 2013 ? 🤣 th-cam.com/video/rjqnvymIdc8/w-d-xo.html
Am-luck
Outrageous and he needs punishing. Anyone who's played in any competitive league for a few years will have seen punches thrown for sure. It's the age/build difference and the sucker punch that makes this especially egregious.
That lineup of the coaching staff look like a grown up pic of wanna be gang members
I watch The New Saints and they ain’t bullies! They’re from Shropshire. Don’t diss Shropshire Zealand! We’re a great county and we love helping the Welsh develop the game of what you call Soccer!
He deserve prison time for this. And banned from all kind of sports for the rest of his life

Lad, i get that youre welsh and feel the need to take it out on something, but you dont just punch other people working in the same places as you, let alone a kid doing so 😂🤦♂️
Just to confirm, this is definitely a crime in Wales. It wouldn't matter if he were over or under 18. Still a crime.
In fact, the other club have said
"Nid ydym yn gwybod sut y daeth y fideo hwn allan ond rydym yn annog pobl i'w dynnu oddi ar eu cyfryngau cymdeithasol gan ei fod yn mater i'r heddlu ac nid ydym am gael unrhyw beth yn effeithio ar eu hymchwiliad
Ni fydd y clwb yn gwneud unrhyw sylw pellach ar y digwyddiad"
Or (and paraphrasing), How did this get on the internet? Someone leaked this who is going to be in trouble. That guy needs to go to jail and now the police are worried about prejudice on the case. We won't comment further* (although we think it might be an Englishman**)
* This is essentially accurate but the Welsh is far more formal
**Anything in the bracket is purely fabrication for my amusement.
what????? why on earth would you put this guy with a peaceful deer??? put him with a grizzly rather.
Hopefully the coaching staff is able to get by without him.
$50 for linesmaning one game? He probably does it for free
Should he go to prison though? It seems like a red card and very long suspension kind of thing, but should people go to prison for what happens on a football pitch?
Yes, if a Team offical, strikes a match offical, he should go to jail.
