Tanzeela Qambrani: The First Black Pakistani Lawmaker

Have you heard of Tanzeela Qambrani? She is a Pakistani politician who is notable for becoming the country’s first lawmaker of African descent. Tanzeela is a member of the Sheedi community, Pakistanis largely descended from enslaved Africans who were trafficked to Pakistan during the Indian Ocean Slave Trade. Of Tanzanian heritage, Tanzeela proudly embraces her African roots and advocates for her community! Hear her story in this 60 second video!
