This 1988 made for t.v. movie was based on the life and ultimate suicide of Colleen Applegate, a young woman from Minnesota who went to Hollywood at the age of 18 with dreams of stardom, became a porn star under the name of "Shauna Grant" and then returned to her hometown two years later to be buried, a tragic suicide at the age of 20.
My son Started working at 16 I wanted him to work an become grateful for each dollar so he worked his ass off balancing straight A's and working through High school he had to prove to me he could even do both an he showed me he could work and do school because originally the job situation was for summer only but he begged me to stay working so my son graduated this year with honors on a scholarship and in college with his first job still intact and humbly employed and in college honestly watching things like this makes me feel more blessed then I all ready feel. Also if you're a teen mom don't let anyone put you down because I was a single teen mom and my son is the opposite of what ever society said he would be like just goes to show you , you don't need to be married and have it all figured out to raise a beautiful human being. Also for the Karen's who read this I don't at all recommend teen parenting but if it happens always remain positive and know it will all work out in the end
This movie is about an eighteen year old former Kansas high school cheerleader who moved to Los Angeles upon graduating and becomes a cocaine addicted porn actress before committing suicide at age twenty. Based on the dramatization of real-life accounts of the late Shauna Grant.
You do know the whole "cheerleading" BS is *ALL* about titilating the mostly male audience for these sports and drawing them in, that's why they are always dressed in skimpy outfits, so short mini skirts, and dancing around to give brief illusionary "glimpses" to the "fans", the whole cheerleading thing is about se.x not "cheering" the team, so it fits that Colleen would wind up in modelling that eventually turned to adult film- both all about the same titilation and appealing to the male viewers who pay.

saw someone in the comments say she had plenty of chances of help but didn't take them. but the thing is she didn't. her aunt kicked her out as soon as she found out about the modeling and her mom gave her the cold shoulder. tough love should be given to people making the wrong decision only after it becomes repetitive behavior but her family ostracized her from the get go. what she needed was to be shown love and support and guidance to the right path. when her aunt kicked her out that only made her need to do it more as she needed money for food and rent. as for her coke addiction, she didn't need Mel to abuse her what she needed was therapy and rehab. you can't just tell an addict to stop its nearly impossible
Apparently on her graduation she was too bored on a job to get some skills to move on to something better. She wanted everything without working at a job that would give her a step up. Would take time but she wasn't capable or just plain kind of spoiled it seems. Still, meeting people who would use her in a kind of work that introduced her to drugs. Therapy, rehab programs, explore root causes of use, relationships can improve, find healthier ways to cope with problems. Medication may be used to manage withdrawal symptoms, prevent relapse, treatment for mental health conditions like depression, anxiety. There is help available.❤

This movie just skipped over some of the movie i think, it went from her getting in the car and telling her friend she will call her later to her arguing with her parents🤔
That was just a lot too fast. She had a ton of big feelings to deal with but she kept trying to push them away. Do yourself a huge favor and just feel your feelings. You’re not weak because you have suppressed feelings trying to surface, you’re a human being, born with feelings so you can experience the world better. Honestly, I think if she would’ve took the time to process her feelings, she would know more about what she wanted to do with her life instead of just being in survival mode 😢
It's a sad 😢 story 😞.. A individual can have a modest, decent family upbringing ❤ and at some point, stays true still within no matter the wrongful paths taken... she, The prodigal daughter returned to her roots. When 18, you have to let your children fly out of the nest, knowing the tragedy of ordeal that'll happen by bad choices and people. All a parent can do is intercede prayers 🙏🏾 and pray for their other children 😔 to not follow. Too do better, still loving the one who didn't 😢 she was stubborn and couldn't wait, she wanted fame and fortune fast ... Too fast, and it came with C4 results 😮 Cory wasn't bad, he had convictions, he knew it was just going to get worse. Even the people, like the photographer, tried to steer her right, the man in the Mansion,a drug dealer, he knew he's time was coming. Her friend, a washed up drug addict, porn star, make-up artist 😮 😢
This girl was pathetically immature, selfish and ignorant. She started down the wrong path and just kept going until it was too late. She was the cause of her own destruction in the end. Unfortunately, there are other young people who follow her identical path in life and end up in the identical same place. They are incapable of understanding their plight and are unable to comprehend and change.
@@sherrybennett9318Hello… I speak from experience. I have a multiple subject teaching credential. I saw this student in the classroom every school day of the week. The troubles began way back in the 1960’s. Babies having babies, raising babies generation after generation until our society collapses from within the home outward. For God sake look 👀 at the San Francisco school system. News stories of teenagers attacking teachers and students they dislike in the classrooms. The same happening in Chicago, New York and elsewhere. Bring narcotics into the picture and now you have real problems. We have illegals being invited into our country by the president who is mentally impaired and they are bringing with them the most dangerous drug traffickers to destroy the minds of our school children and young adults. Who is kidding who? We are in very serious trouble and unfortunately many people don’t see the danger.

This shows how damaging our culture has become, women feel like their only value is their bodies. That is false of course, but many of us even in marriage feel as if that is all we are valued for...
I do think society norms have become extremely toxic but many an I mean many woman are struggling and sadly the stance in this country is struggle and be judged do good and still be judge it's the sad reality of living in America when this country has made it so ppl can't even be paid decent any more so woman have to take extreme avenues to survive. But at no point in time should you ever judge sex workers or down them after all society and doing just that is the reason why most woman have to do those extremes
Her actual name was not "Pauleen Anderson", it was Colleen Applegate, she appeared in over 30 adult films, earning up to $100,000 The coke was the biggest problem, if it burned a hole inside her nose causing nose bleeds, one can imagine what it was doing further in and in her lungs! The modelling agencies and photographers no longer wanted her once she started doing the adult films, because no company wanting their products being modelled in ads, magazines and commercials would want their products associated with adult films, just imagine if Kelloggs found their new cereal commercial girl was recognized all over the place as having been in adult films. So she basically sealed her fate away from any magazine ads, commercials and basic modelling to having to resort only to adult films, and once her face was no longer new and "fresh" her calls would slow down and stop, especilly as she got older, so that was a dead end kind of career. She made over $100,000 What cost $100,000 in 1984 would cost $297,847 in 2023, so if we go by to-day, she had about $300,000, blew it all and was broke, down to 2 suitcases and the clothes she had.
Dang her mom was kinda hard on her for being late to a wretched graveyard shift job. What 18 year old would do that for more than 2 days before quitting? Jeez.
seems to be some content missing at the 3:20 mark. It jumps from the girl getting in a car with 2 guys to Pauline in trouble at home. I dont remember the movie doing that.

I really couldn't like the character and expressed myself openly. I didn't attack anyone personally. You're attacking me personally. So, I could understand how much compassion and empathy you possess. I'm mostly compassionate and empathetic to good, respect worthy characters who I feel, humans but it's impossible for me to be the same with such substandard characters. I'm a little bit choosy about being humane to humans. Your comment sounded nonsense to me because you're judging me on the basis of a comment only. It's not your business to decide on what kind of person I am. I didn't tell you anything. I expressed my opinion about the character in the film. That's it. Mind your own business and judge yourself. Thanku. Goodbye.
I really couldn't respect the character and I really can't respect those who respect such characters. I like to respect those who maintain their self respect and don't sell themselves or their bodies to the public shamelessly and add value to the society. Can you imagine what would be the situation in our so called civilized society if every girl or lady get inspired by her respectfully and start following her path. Would you like your mother to be such a lady ?! Then, perhaps it will be clear to all of you who are raising their voice so much against my comment that why couldn't I respect her. But I guess, you people will still oppose me with all your poor EQ levels. Bye.

I've seen this before but so good
Addictions can be very powerful and lead to tragic endings. Interventions can be an option for the addict suffering. Therapy, rehab programs, explore root causes of use, relationships can improve, find healthier ways to cope with problems. Medication may be used to manage withdrawal symptoms, prevent relapse, treatment for mental health conditions like depression, anxiety. There is help available.❤
My sincerest condolences for her and her family.
Wicked world ...very sad .
A wicked and seductive world
This girl no doubt is selling herself cheap. She is better than that. I would never half my partner ever cheapen herself like she is doing to herself
She wanted to grow up quick and I did too and now I look back and say to myself what was I thinking. I didn't do drugs either
Well she had so many chances to better her life and a lot of people that loved her dearly but she chose drugs and wrong friends🚮
That's often the path of least resistance. Was mine for decades, then I became teachable, and now love in the truth of God ‼‼
Despite having support, love, phenomenal parents - I still made very poor choices - experience is my best teacher 👣👣
@sisandamakapela5582: ☕ I resent your remark..... clearly, she was a "Chronic Addict!" ☕ Why didn't anyone mention "Rehab" or try to get her into "Rehab?" She needed help because she was not able to stop the behavior on her own. Most Chronic Addicts, need intervention. ☕ Recovery, is a long and working progress. Some "Chronic Addicts" are in and out of "Rehab" and it takes them several times to get it right and stay sober! ☕ Sobriety is a struggle and there is no guarantee that she would have been able to over her illness even after time in Rehab. From what I gather from watching the Movie is that she was introduced to the drug, she was not wised up ☕ nor, street smart, she in some ways was stuck in child like mindset, she chose to not obey her parents and was hard headed. I don't feel 💯 sorry for her, but; in some ways I do. Kicking the habit was a very difficult thing for her to do and she desperately needed "Rehab Intervention!"
Apparently they aren't that great because she chose drugs over them. For all you know their treatment of her drove her to drugs.
My birth mother gotme addicted to drugs she put meth in my food since age 4
It’s not always a choice choosing the right path, she might had psychological issues and needed professional help, nobody knows🤷🏻♀️
This movie just skipped over some of the movie i think, it went from her getting in the car and telling her friend she will call her later to her arguing with her parents🤔
Beautiful blondy spoiled young girl from deep heart states
Minnesota was where the real girl was from
That was just a lot too fast.
Great comment.x
ESSE FILME SERVE DE ALERTA PARA ESSAS GAROTAS DESLUMBRADAS COM A FAMA.
Whoa, wasn't expecting the ending.
You cant make anyone do anything. Theyll do what they want and dont care about others suffering because of their bad choices.
Wow u speak from experience or just ignorant to the real world??
Too true.😮
@@sherrybennett9318She had no idea what she was getting herself into and she paid a big price. It's hard, minimum wage, bad job but no use of porn-it's a shortcut to h e l l.
She was manipulated, too.
As much pressure as we put on women to look pretty and youthful we dont put the same pressure for men to be the same. Talk about a double standard
Men are pressured in other ways
Women are the fairer sex so this comparison doesn’t work. Men get pressured in other ways.
@AquaNikki they are pressured to have a career/money
@@melindalicht6699 yes. If they aren't 6 foot something with high income...they become invisible
Really good movie such a sad story
Very sad story, it even says online this girl contracted herpes because of her career. Sad very sad
Where is it online?
They also said she had gotten pregnant and had an abortion.
What kind of trouble will Paula get herself in?
I wonder how it will end😮
I saw this before she was so hard headed😢
She was hard headed but she wanted life in the fast lane and I can relate when I was a teenager I wanted to grow up quickly without doing any drugs. I don't know what I was thinking
Blah blah blah stop crying 😢😂
I wish this was on tubi..decent vopy tho...ty
Anyone know any films similar to this ? The 80s atmosphere is good even though it’s a sad story
Death of a Centerfold: The Dorothy Stratten Story (1981). A newer one, Someone to Love Me (1998).
Well She quería vivir al máximo, y lo hizo fue la mejor decisión ese era su final tarde o temprano.
Lost and turned out. You have choices in life she went left. And destroyed her life.
Wicked world sadly 😢
Her actual name was not "Pauleen Anderson", it was Colleen Applegate, she appeared in over 30 adult films, earning up to $100,000
The coke was the biggest problem, if it burned a hole inside her nose causing nose bleeds, one can imagine what it was doing further in and in her lungs!
She made over $100,000
What cost $100,000 in 1984 would cost $297,847 in 2023, so if we go by to-day, she had about $300,000, blew it all and was broke, down to 2 suitcases and the clothes she had.
Dang her mom was kinda hard on her for being late to a wretched graveyard shift job. What 18 year old would do that for more than 2 days before quitting? Jeez.
She acts so bad when she gets angry 😂
Family always!
seems to be some content missing at the 3:20 mark. It jumps from the girl getting in a car with 2 guys to Pauline in trouble at home. I dont remember the movie doing that.
reading comments here by ppl
who judge judge judge ..
Based on Shauna Grant
Her real name was Collen Applegate
@QueenAmeerah25 that is correct
So sad for navie girl.
This seems to jump very quickly from one scene to another. I’m assuming this has been edited?
Probably the ads have been edited out 🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧
She blew that candle out on that gurl!!!!!
R.I.P. actress Melinda Dillon. Drugs is the pathway to h***
I hate it when there is nothing describing the plot of a movie
According to this movie she was very immature, childish, and spoiled. Feel sorry for her parents.
Good movie
And then you end up at a diddy party
Just finished watching it and my god her character was annoying lol
She was. All she did was whine and screech in almost every scene
❤☀❤
I was 11 in 1984
I think her mom pushes her farther and farther
JESUS Is Coming SOON! Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). Accept JESUS as Your Lord and Savior TODAY!
She moved out to California? She was in California in Palm Springs.
Her mother nagged her in such an irritating way. You will never that kind of girl to listen to you that way

She did a music video?? Oook
She looks like the actress can't remember her name The blondy girl she's old now
Mom who did this to you. She did it herself kmt
RIP
This girl was not at all an innocent girl. She was a dirty, greedy, nonsense, irresponsible (and what else I don't know) girl. She always chose the wrong paths. Her body was not sinful but her mind was sinful, I'm very sure and she was not innocent but impure. I hated her so much.
Bye.
How about validating her
Skkiped😂😂
