This is a good addition to the community. Dota players are picky as hell and will stay far away from any hero that has even the slightest bit of micro involved no matter how easy the hero’s micro really is, such as the quite simple brewmaster. Hopefully we see a resurgence of cool heroes like Visage
a top 1% player is not a high MMR youtuber? you really felt it was important enough to try and differentiate him from the other content creators because a few hundred spots on the ladder? why even point that out? 0 social awareness man jesus christ, what a backhanded compliment lmao.
@TheBugB If you aren't a current TI winner don't even think about giving me advice, I'm not even going to consider it. If you are a current TI winner you should be grateful I am even considering your advice as I would rather be learning from openai.
Your unparalleled guides are a boon to the community! Thanks for the awesome content! It's refreshing to see additions like this, especially in a community as discerning as Dota players. Even heroes with minimal micro, like Brewmaster, often get overlooked, but here's hoping for a resurgence of unique picks like Visage!
We really need a good in-game tutorial for micromanagement. Even a workshop mini-game, that would be awesome! I really want to learn some micromanagement heroes but it feels insurmountable. I can't find comfortable hot keys is my main problem.
mmm.. I guess you can use mine.. I built it for beginner and intermediate players.. I firmly believe the biggest hurdle new players have for Dota 2 is the incomplete default hotkey/options set-up new players gets constricted with their hero pool and progress because the default settings doesn't allow you to venture out to more complex heroes as you learn (in my opinion) Features heroes like Invoker/Naga Siren/Phantom Lancer/Brewmaster/Meepo Features phrases/quick-auto cast/micro/taunt/spectator hotkeys etc. I would call this set-up as the Dota 2 bible (might not be the best production tutorial video but it's a start 😝) Perfect for beginners or elevating your game if you're a seasoned player Good luck! Do what you want with it! Edit it to your preference! 😀 th-cam.com/video/TpHO0-okH6k/w-d-xo.html Note: It's not an in-game mechanic tutorial - it's a hotkey/options tutorial setup You can just skip to the end of the video where I show the settings 1:44:00
For those who might be interested in Meepo hotkeys I have mine in the following categories: Individual meepos (Main here select, Z, X, C, F). Inverses IE "all but Meepo 2" which I have as the the same hotkey + alt so (Alt+Z, Alt+X, Alt+C etc), these are useful when you need to run away with one but can attack with the rest bu using the indivudual meepo hotkey then using Alt to protect or attack whos trying to kill you. Note that the "All other units" hotkey functions as the inverse hotkey for Meepo Prime. Lastly I have two "two meepo" hotkeys, mostly for farming, the most important one being with Meepo 1 and 2 so you can farm while you are being aggressive with Meepo Prime.
FYI, adding units to control groups only requires shift (e.g, SHIFT+2 to add to control group 2). You don't need CTRL+SHIFT. (I may have configured it at some stage but I'm 90% sure that's teh default)
great video. 1 point of improvement for hotkey videos like this is maybe you can add a visual keyboard on the screen that way we can see what you're pressing/holding down. instead of relying on what you say. I'm more of a visual learning, and sometimes its hard to keep up with what you're saying while watching. especially cause english isn't my native language. its not much of a problem tho, cause i can just rewind. just a suggestion
No way you uploaded a video on the same exact topic the day after we finish editing our video on micro tricks specific to playing offlane summons heroes. The unique summons thing you mentioned with Invoker is the same with Lycan's wolves. You can have one wolf on a separate control group for easy body blocking. Great video that covers a lot of things we didn't (especially with illusions).
Sir thank you so much for this useful video, i didnt know about ctrl ability when you have 2 gold lancer illusions, that is so sweet to know, your vid was perfectly fine, much love!
Illusion heroes control quite differently to zoo heroes in my opinion. It’s hard to learn both. I personally enjoy “extra hero” summoners like lone druid, brew master, visage etc.. I am awful with illusion heroes though.
I find it interesting that these micro mechanics are deeply rooted behind my brain and i know it but don't know it at the same time As i watched this video realized "Hey i do that"
Damn, I was literally just saying to myself I wish you made a micro guide and here it is. Can we get some videos with chen? I used to play him a lot but after my 6 year break I'm extremely lost when I used to always snag first blood with him and become a ganking machine.
Hey Zack, I have an idea for content, might be good or just silly idk. You know how there's puzzles for games where they present you with a specific situation and you gotta solve it the best way possible (like "get lethal" puzzles for Hearthstone, or solve situations in Go, for example)? Well I think something similar could be done with teamfights, like pausing it at a specific moment and saying "what's the best you can do here as ...". Say you're an initiator and you have to start a fight in a tier 2 or something, you could try to explain why you should be jumping to a specific core, or prioritizing supports, or just holding your blink because whatever. I don't think it's that different to the replay analysis you generally do, but I thought it'd be cool to see a specific situation with that same puzzle aproach to it, giving some time to think about it for the viewers. I do struggle with assessing situations fast enough when initiating or counterinitaiting as a 4 player quite often so yeah, support focus would be nice, but I think understanding priorities as a core is useful as well. Anyways thanks for the good content and actually reading all that :)
Thank you for the high quality video! I have a question, I found that Manta illus can be set to different control group individually as you said in the video, this works on every single hero BUT Meepo. Is there a way to fix it? This annoys me for quite some time already. :( Thanks!
When I select all and tab through my units I can't issue separate orders. Even if the white box is on one treant summon when I give an order all summons follow that order. How do I change that?
As a PL spammer and juke lover. I approve 🤪. I like that console command, finally answered my frustration with using TAB to select individual summons instead of group.
I use 1,2,3,4 for all my micros and its pretty easy with that alone, 1 for main hero. 2 for all, 3 for everything but main hero, 4 (i also change it to my mouse button is needed) for selecting each unit. pretty simple and straight forward and easy to use
Great video! Could u make a video where u explain all your settings and keybinds? Im very interested in having the perfect settings to play different kinds of hero's including micro hero's and be efficiënt enough to hit all the keys for items spells and micro without being tangled up with hand position. Also would like to know how u make use of your select ally binds in games and preset camera positions. Im sorry for long question but hope u read it so we can learn dota
6 Games, 5 Losses :') I would say the clone should get it's own dedicated hotkey so you can easily swap to it's perspective when having it farm separately
I dont think you mentioned invisible units. I play a lot of riki, and when I get manta/illusions split pushing, it's important to have summoned units set to attack "Always". Otherwise they will run by creep waves EVEN when you attack move, UNLESS they are in vision range when you issue the order. Which is, in my opinion, a very strange quirk and possibly a bug.
I'm not good at dota micro but I Played starcraft 2 for 3 years mediocre. I can play NP, Syllabear, ench, chen but trash. I hate illusion heroes and meepo I've been playing dota for 20 years and for the love of me I can't play those heroes.

You might not be the highest MMR of TH-cam tutorial creators, but you are by far the best teacher ❤

LMAO RANK 1 TH-camrs only! Immortal isn’t good enough nowadays
@godursolamehahaxd9909 the irony behind you telling the other guy he has no social awareness...

There's a custom game Chen's Training , you definitely should give it a try
It may be exactly what you looked for

I was just searching for this, this past week. Found your channel yesterday and now this upload in the last 2 days, unreal timing ahahah

Yes 👍
I have been looking for a video like this for a long time! great explanation and examples!
Had no idea about having more unit control after disabling ctrl unified commands Thanks!
You have a Naga mirror image as your profile pic and you don’t know this? No wayyyy
Thanks for putting this out, nicely edited and quick. You can mouse over unit exp and it'll sometimes tell you it's bounty for killing it

Great video Zack. Thanks for the neat tricks.
I find it interesting that these micro mechanics are deeply rooted behind my brain and i know it but don't know it at the same time
As i watched this video realized "Hey i do that"
It's like when you know how to speak a language fluently but have no idea what terms like "past participle" or "present perfect" mean.
great, quick guide!
thank you just when i needed this
This really helped me, after watching this video, i went 13/1 & was able to farm jungle much better with naga siren. TY!
jeez you read my mind. I was going to ask how you spread out the spiderlings
This is amazing content wow, thank you for the time you put in on this!
This is so Helpful...Great video 🔥
Considering how Radiance+Manta have become meta on some heroes I play(AM and Abaddon), this vid is a godsend. Thanks man 👍
im learning arc warden with manta so this helps a lot thanks.
just subbed, goated vid!
A follow up video with a keyboard cam would be awesome!
Holy shit, I can Chen now 😂 Will study on this!
deserve a salute man

Can someone explain to me how he managed to make the spiderlings individually move to scout please ?

I can't bind controlled units to alt keys. How do you do it?
Hey cute bookshelves! Also great technical video 🎉
"Back to our hero. What are we up to? Let's go back I'm scared."
Typical day as Lone Druid
0n scale from 0 to 10, I stand at -1 in micro. which hero would you suggest to start learning micro. which one is easiest. for pos 4/5
High level tips here !
As a PL spammer and juke lover. I approve 🤪.

I actually asked Insania during stream to show us his controls for micro and he just said "I dont, i just click them 1 by 1"
just use tab, it switches between ur unit and all units controlled, also if you hit space it goes to your hero
Im 6k mmr and I learned so much from this video
I guess I can start playing micro heroes now.

Actually I have a very long video called On Hotkeys that explains just that! It's linked in this video's description
How the hell do you open the console? I thought they fixed this and set the default to True
god like guide
How much experience you have with Arc Warden.
6 Games, 5 Losses :')
I would say the clone should get it's own dedicated hotkey so you can easily swap to it's perspective when having it farm separately
1 hotkey for your main, 2 for your clone, 3 for everything else, do you know ZXYC from gameleap like forever ago?
some of those control group management came from the orginal wc3
funny enough if you were a bit into warcrat 3 back in the day, the dota 2 controls are 90% the same
Ya if only I can use shift TAB to tab the opposite way like in WAR3
4:20

I did not know that! I guess I've rarely played invis summons/illusions that I needed them to farm so I never noticed this
yeah i wondered about that, wolves do that too
Ahh this explains why it was so hard to get my spiders to attack creeps when I use smoke as a broodmother. Ty
32293 Natasha Row
don't you think TAB + A Attack is faster?? I'm 2k mmr though [ Kye (mika4334) ]
Hei, how do u do naga siren push lane
I thought he was talking about HAKI, observation haki
Warlock got that Conqueror's Haki to control the Golem and Imps
I didn't understand a single thing. Maybe i should avoid all summons and illusions heroes😢
Train in StarCraft 2, easy
this is basic if your a starcraft player
I'm not good at dota micro but I Played starcraft 2 for 3 years mediocre. I can play NP, Syllabear, ench, chen but trash. I hate illusion heroes and meepo I've been playing dota for 20 years and for the love of me I can't play those heroes.
First
Go play warcraft 3. You'll learn to micro. 😎
