I've been thinking of building a DIY keyboard to replace my current Redragon K699 as my main keyboard. So far I've already found the switches, boards and keycaps to go for. I'm honestly excited to build my first custom keyboard.
I really appreciate all of your comprehensive guides! What made me sub a while back ago was enjoying your thoroughness and high quality editing and content. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this excellent simple guide to mechanical keyboards. I just ordered my first keyboard and some components for my first mod.. . with your videos it will be something nice to do.
You made this the day before I’m getting the Akko 3068B from your other video… I feel like you’re guiding me into the keyboard enthusiast rabbit hole, slowly but surely 🤔
As a new guy in the keyboard world, i got myself the rk84 with a matcha keycap and a custom coiled cable, i am planning to fully mod, this video rlly helped me
Every video u upload helps me alot either learning to mod or keyboards that ive never seen before or switched i use to only know razer logitech hyperx and steel series keyboard but not into hot swappable
On the Outemu sockets, I highly recommend is using/buying KTT switches since theyre smooth and sounds good out of the box(and they dont need any films as they are already tight😉). KTT has the same manufacturer as akko and based on my preference they are better in feel amd sound.
Because of you I checked out Akko and damn that’s a good product for the price! Currently building with the cs Sakura switches and the black/pink ASA lows
The stranger things music always hits different. Also, my redragon k617 is modded with akko rose reds and the penny mod (filling the bottom case with pennies and taping them together, making kind of similar weight and dampening as silicone), and 5 layers of tape, making a poppy clacky keyboard
I very much appreciate the explanation in this video. However I have been looking to mod my budget tecware phantom in to a silent office/work keyboard. Can you do this same video but for how to make any price range more silent. I think most of us beginners get confused on what case mods to do for the more silent sound rather than thocky or clacky. I understand everyone’s case is different which will give a different sound and we may have to tweak some internally here and there. However if you don’t feel like it’s a worthy video, what are the best silent Akko switches in your opinion for us beginners who have a tecware or reddragon that uses outemu switches? Also what style / material key caps tend to be more silent than others? Was looking at the Akko lubed lavender switches and possible Akko caps. What to do next?
I've recently (2 days ago in fact) finished a lavender purple build, and while it is relatively quiet, it becomes loud if your office is rather quiet and you are a hard hitter. Switch and Click had a video on the K552 which I believe is a good start (that's where I started as well). I've went through pretty much all of the Akko family, and I would say Radiant Reds are the best solution for office use and it's not that light either.
Some of you guys might hate this but Aifei keycaps are definitely one of the best Gmk clones out there and it made out of ABS doubleshot too. Unlike Pbt, ABS is good because it have like a texture when you type on them
Wondering if u could use a cricut to cut out the foam with all the shapes for the switches etc? It might save some time instead of cutting them all manually with the blade, idk lol. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what board is at 10:56??
I'm in a wheelchair and currently have a cheap amazon blue switch keyboard, it's really clicky and loud, my friend had red switches which I got to try which were easier for me to type on and less fatigue for me while typing and gaming. Anyway what sort of budget keyboard kit and switches should I get, any recommendations? I like the ones that sounds smooth like butter while typing.
REALLY IMPORTANT QUESTION I have the yunzii kc68(the purple and white board.) I want to mod it and get into the world of mechanical keyboards. But the only thing I need to know is how to mod it. It has a weird case design that is preventing me from opening it up and trying a pe foam mod. Also mine came with no case dampening. ANYWAY THE MAIN POINT OF MY COMMENT was to ask if you would consider making a quick modding guide in this board. It would be much appreciated
hey guys I have the Royal K 84, just went to Amazon to get the Asceny Plate Mount Stabilizers and it says they are not compatible, any other recommendation that I could get instead?
Imo it's not worth it. Surely it will help reduce the bottom out sound but also it will make switch feel mushy ( when using Linear ) or decreasing tactility ( when using Tactile ).
Debating between Tecware Phantom 87 ($39) and the Akko 3068b ($63). Any help? Not a huge keyboard guy but I'm looking for value. ~ Yes I found out that they're cheaper in my country
Did you mean to leave out optical hot-swap boards or just forgot haha. I have 2 cheaper boards I used as my learning boards for mods that both use optical hot swap.
@@jaytnacks Ah, those keycaps are the stock keycaps of the Akko 3068 Year of the Ox keyboard. Unfortunately Akko don't sell the whole keycaps set separately.
The only thing left to upgrade on my huntsman mini is the stabs but I'm too scared to upgrade them because I am scared I might accidently break them lol
@@ConsumerTechReview Would lubed stabilizers make my clicky purple switches sound better? Or would they make them sound worse because I have read online that lubing the actualy switch for clickies makes them sound worse but idk about the stabilizer.
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but if you are a beginner, it's probably the best for you to start with a board that requires soldering, it is a good way of learning a pretty useful skill to learn especially as a beginner.
I personally disagree due to limitations in terms of space like if you live in a dorm, as well as age, many people getting into mechanical keyboards are well below 18. But the biggest thing I think is that very very few mechanical keyboards will have soldered switches as the entire industry will mainly be hotswap only in the next 2 to 4 years. Just my opinion though I do respect where you're coming from :)
@@vealesbedwars well yeah i get you man 160 is budget for a good ass keyboard in this keyboard industry. But if you think about it in a different perspective, is $160 really budget for a keyboard?

Little tip on case stuff - shelf liner. It's what switch and click uses for her case dampening lol

Have been using car dampening butyl rubbers on K617 and RKG68. Pretty satisfied with the sound, so poppy even with stock switches
Thanks so much, litrally needed something just like this.

W video, W person, W channel, W tips.
I'm looking to upgrade my RK61 soon and this really helped. You earned a new sub
I use Zeal plate mount stabs in both my GK61 optical and RK61 and they're also very good, even with very little lube.

PBT keycaps will absolutely shine over time, they just resist it longer than most ABS keycaps
Nice to know
65% is the frickin best IMO

What do you recommend i add to my Rk61 keyboard?
This is a really nice tutorial! Even tho i'm just getting into keyboards and i just got the Akko 3068b from amazon i love this tutorial!
How are the Asceny vs Durock plate mounted stabs? Which one should I get?
There are actually 3 types of stabilizers. The third being clip in

Hi bro. Thanks for the videos they are great. Keep it coming. I got 1 question. What is the best 75% keeb with knob under USD110?
You should try some killmat for damping its pretty much eazer to work with butyl rubber
which one is better in your opinion, akko 3068b or akko mod005?
