That was back in my time I'm 89 years old and that's one of my favorite songs. The lead singer is Mike Kelly of course he's passed on well I shouldn't say of course cuz I'm still here. But I always thought he was so cute I always had a crush on him and I like to see him anytime and I still think he's cute LOL they had others that took his place after that but it never was the same he was from the 60s to the 70s..😍😍🤩

Beautiful reaction, you two are so much fun and a great role models for couples (who wish to stay married!) Nice move, Shawn, grabbing Mel's hand! One of the best songs from the do wop era. "Have You Heard" is their other big hit- fabulous similar vocal harmonies. You would also like "Remember Then", the Earls. (Do-wop also.)

Other hits "HAVE YOU HEARD (1963),"TOTAL RECALL" (1968) You Belong To Me has also been recorded by Jason Wade(2001), Patsy Cline(1962),Bob Dylan(1994), Dean Martin (1957)and Tori Amos(2001)

@@edprzydatek8398 Yes. Most Famous version Jo Stafford, 1952 , but in 1952 Joni James sang it as well. Popular with Korean War soldiers. Have You Heard mentioned above is also Joni James' hit. By the time the Duprees did it the song was at least 10 years old. I Like Jo Stafford's version best, total class and style. Reactors would do well to do the research and hear original versions of these covers and become educated as to the history of American popular music.

  • @michaellazzeri2069

Composed in 1947, as a C & W song, by Chilton Price, Redd Stewart, & Pee Wee King, & 1st recorded in early '52, by C. & W singer, Sue Thompson. Later that summer, Patti Page made a lush, instrumentally strong version. But it was in September of '52, when Jo Stafford, with Paul Weston & his orchestra, made THE biggest recording , going to #1 all over the USA, for a month. Deam martin did a version, & here, The Duprees did it their way. ------------------MJL, 75 y/o

My favorite by the Duprees is My Own True Love. I worked for a company that had their hands in many things. They actually had a record label with some recording studio in the next County. The owner/producer was a fantastic singer in his own right. His oldies band always played My Own True Love... The singer was good friends with the late great Johnny Maestro.

In 1962, Patsy Cline released an album "Sentimentally Yours" (the last album released in her lifetime) which included such standards as "That's My Desire", "You Made Me Love You (I Didn't Want to Do It)", "Anytime", "You Were Only Fooling (While I Was Falling In Love)" and this song, "You Belong To Me". I think you would enjoy listening to all these songs, since Patsy put her signature on all of these old songs!

What do I have to repent about Holy Roller I served for God taking care of people as a nurse for 60 years what did you do? God has let me live now till I'm 90 if I had been bad I would have been gone by now. He knows what I did so keep your comments to yourself and don't get into mine. I think you need to repent butting into other people's business. They call those people busy bodies that never did a thing for a Mankind in their whole life. I serve the Lord did you.

Ok Folks 1st things 1st . --------This video is from '64. The hit version was recorded in the Spring, of '62. The Lead vocals were done by Joey Canzano, who became Joey Vann. he LEFT The Duprees in '64, replaced on lead, by Mike Kelly, who YOU see hear, lip-synching to the original recording. ----------The song written in the late 40's by Chilton Price , & Pee Wee King, was a Country Western Song. Indeed, in early '52, Sue Thompson, a C & W singer, recorded the song, to moderate success. Later that summer, Patti Page recorded a lush, orchestrated version, with moderate success on the Pop Charts. But it was in the Fall of '52, when Band leader Paul Weston arranged the song in a Big Band fashion for pop singer Jo Stafford, who he was courting her. , That version really hit big time, going platinum [ 1 million records sold ] , & became Jo's signature song. Later, Dean Martin did it, in '62 the Duprees did it, but in '61, just prior to her death in that tragic plane crash, Patsy Cline & The Jordanaires did a C & W version that also went Platinum. Also in '61, Jo Stafford & Husband Paul Weston re-did her early 50's hits for Capitol Records. So, as you see, this song is well traveled through the 50's & early 60's. ---------MJL, 75 y/o

Murder mystery where the serial killer was killing women to this song, aka, he killed one in Algiers, one along the Nile, one on a tropical island, one on a silver plane, etc. Made him hard to track down and made for a good book.

That's Mike Kelly in the video. He didn't sing lead on the recording, but he was better than Joey Vann.
