I'm not a construction or hail damage expert, but the vent looked just fine to me. Maybe that is why insurance companies are being so tough on all these frivilous insurance claims just to get a new roof.
Insurance companies are horrible entities... but I'm with you on this. I can't grasp a home owner using insurance to cover slight dents in a roof vent that would fall under normal wear and tear. Over vigilant people like this are a problem for everyone due to insurance being a big pool we all chip in for.
@@gudspellar3605 Its not normal wear and tear. Its hail damage. Its what you pay your premiums for. If your car gets dented from hail you dont say "oh well thats wear and tear."
Document everything done and keep all receipts of professionally done repairs so future repairs are not denied under the "home owner negligence in maintenance" rule.
@@saulatuiqalau1120 Incorrect. He could've tucked it under the course of shingles above or, if he lacked the skill to do that, he could've attached it to the backside of the ridge cap.
Creating a hole by nailing into a undisturbed shingle and now exposing a direct way for water to get to the sheathing underneath, "while creating a video explaining why said insurance company now has guidelines", well the roofing company answered the reason why! "No nail nail thru my roof please"!!! Lol
So insurance companies are licensed and trained roofing engineers to recommend how to do a repair? Ah the same way they can tell your Doctor the patient does not need that procedure and no medications required. Got it.
If people wouldn't pursue claims for non-issues like that perfectly fine vent, then maybe they would pay for proper repair when it's legitimately needed.
When you nail the tarp on, do those singles need replaced too since they have nail holes? In only watching roofing vids because my new roof has a leak where the additions roof meets the 2nd floor.
@@saulatuiqalau1120 granulated caulking, I'll have to check into it. So i went into my garage loft this week and discovered they shingled right over a bad piece of old sheathing that should have be replaced.
Insurance should have their own roofer. And u shouldn’t deal with insurance claim job to advoid all this. This video was about insurance vs roofer anyways because we didn’t learn anything

Love how he went over the ridge cap and nailed the tarp into shingles on the other slope to create more damage to try to get insurance to pay for.
If he didn’t, the rain would’ve got under the paper and into the hole.

I thought the same thing…. I was like, what are you doing?

Why would you replace a vent with a couple dents ???

They can be replaced, or you can just put some granulated caulking on then and that should be fine. It just won’t last as long.

Good on you man 👍

Wish you had included the response from the insurance there....
use a 6 inch puty knife to losen the shinghle first and you wont tear it up
Or at least a mini 10” pry bar
I would bet that the people who operate the insurance companies have never been on a roof in their lives.
Who is the insurance company so people know NOT WHO TO BUY FROM???
Insurance companies sound a lot like politicians.
What kind of cheap-@ss homeowner doesn't simply fork over a few bucks to the roofing contractor for materials and say - "Here, just do it right!"
Insurance adjusters are sssholes
Insurance is a scam
