just wanna say bill I watch a lot of install and videos of this sorts for many makes and cars and gotta say youre the best presenter for this you do the work and do great explaining things. thank you!
I could care less aboutbmy warranty..i bought my ST to build it..no way in hell a dealership is working on my car and i work at a dealership in the service dept
Being a technician at a ford dealer I can say that we do have a way of proving whether it was tuned or not. Our scan tool can see mode 9 drive cycle data. If there isn’t a drive cycle completed in the history mode 9 data it means the customer flashed the ecu before bringing it in to us for warranty. Which we would then void
I just received my v3 in the mail from u guys I installed everything correctly, I flashed the car with the stage 1-93 straight off Cobbs website and noticed it made my car slower then stock pushing only around 7psi and no torque really wouldn't move when I floored it so I'm very disappointed in the product right now but I'm hoping that ITsupport can help me out bc it seems like a great product So I'm back to stock tune 😡 Agency power exhaust Turbo smart bov
my car was completly off when i installed stage 1 93, didnt realize i was supposed to have car "on" during... car started and drives ok do you think i should reflash?
good day sir a few days ago I bought a focus st 2014 and they told me I had something cobb but I do not have that device you can do something to leave the normal car that is not tune
Iv got a BlueFin (UK) port which is exactly the same mine cost around £350 with only a COBRA exhaust and a COBB cold air intake i think the changes are very noticeable
hey bill, after installing and selecting stage 1, do you have to leave the AP plugged in for it to work? or can you unplug it and put in the glove box out of the way???
Hey bill I gotba question for youI recently purchased a acessport v3 for my 15" focus st ,probably 1 week later my car broke it gives me a code p0016 crankshaft position corellationI brought it to the dealer, but before doing so i flashed my ecu back to stockGot a call the next day saying that they finded out ( kind of ) that my ecu was flashed. So know they have to open the engine and find out exactly whats the issue is.They still dont know if my warranty will be voyed or not What should i do.?????Thank you
Here is the tracking number for yours Jaco 9405515901083225991875 It should be there by tomorrow. We actually held off on the video and sent you the one we had in stock, looks like there was an issue with the shipping service possibly and we had to send another? Either way sorry for the delay but I can tell you it will be worth the wait. We saw some nice tqe gains vs the SCT tune
I just received my new AP3 and still didn't open the box coz I'm wondering would it work with all (USDM, ADM and EDM) and how can I know which of those is my car!
hey bill thanks for the video and here comes my question, i have a focus st 16 and mods are catback exhaust, down pipe, intake and blow off valve, what stage should i go for my car?
Hey Bill, so even if you do 1 modification such as a cool air intake upgrade would it be necessary to get the Cobb access port and tune my focus to the stage one tune setting? And if looking to add inter cooler down the line would it be a good idea to go and invest in the cobb access port? I don't have access to a dyno and wasn't planning on dyno testing but would just tuning with the access port be fine?
The beauty of the AP is that the tunes that come loaded are safe and effective for someone who may not have access to a dyno or custom tune. As long as your use a tune that is designed for the modifications you have you are good to go. You do not need a tune to run a cold air intake or a FMIC for that matter but both parts will work better with a proper tune.
Hey Bill, was wondering if I should get this accessport as in one of your previous videos, you mentioned I will need one if I get the Cobb 3" down pipe
I just received my AP today and plugged it into my car and installed. Once I get done with the install and the map is loaded the car will not reach any boost pressure above 5psi. The car basically goes into a limp mode. I've installed and uninstall twice each time I've had the same problem. When I do uninstall and go back to stock my ECU freaks out and flashes the CEL. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Do you think my AP is a dud?
tbh i didnt notice a lot when i installed this. i noticed some small things like boost timing but nothing major like i hear some people when they say its a new car/ new power band. not feelin it :/
I just drove my car with COBB AP V3 installed for first time. I am wondering what boost pressure I should expect seeing during WOT? On the red meter to the right of Boost on the V3 guages it looks like im only hitting around 16-17 psi. Cobb is claiming 21.5 peak? Enlighten me please CJ!
On the 2013 Focus St, you have to open that little panel on the left to access the OBD 2 to be able to drive with the tuner plugged in. What did you do about that panel hanging there or can you flip around the OBD port? I under stand that you have to tuck the wires in the dash but what did you do about the plug?
I flipped the cover down under the dash. It still covers part of the dead pedal but is mostly out of the way. The OBDII port can be removed from that opening and hidden under the dash if you wanted to.
I have a 13 focus st , catless mid pipe, no resonator, no muffler, rs air box, turbosmart Bob, question I have is can I run the stage 2 or 3 91 octane tune or still stay on the stage 1 until I get the intercooler?
Run whatever stage you want. Aslong as you match the octane rating, you're fine. You might want to monitor your charge temps. But you wont see any damage done with a pre-canned stage 3 cobb tune without an intercooler.
I'm a little late to the party here lol. I just bought a 2014 Focus ST and I'm looking at getting the accessport. I know that the cable runs to the OBD-2 port, but how exactly? Do I just drop the OBD-2 cover and let it dangle while the accessport is connected? That'd be annoying....
i was wondering if you could change the boost with this tuner app? if yes, whats the factory psi and how much psi can the engine handle on a daily drive car?
I have a question regarding the accessport ap3 I just purchased for my focus st. I just recently had a muffler and resonator delete on the car and now it's throwing a "lean" code. A lot of guys had this problem and with it being the rear o2 sensor. The rest of the car is completely stock for now. I was just wondering if the accessport can permanently get rid of this code or just shut the o2 sensor off? Now with that being said will I have any issue of passing emissions at all? Thank you for your time
There will be a dyno video answering that question coming soon but the simple answer is yes but they may not be optimal. We tried the stage 3 file with just a cold air intake and an exhaust on the dyno and saw nice gains over the stage 1 and stage 2. The Stage 3 will make more boost though so it is really better of being used with an intercooler and downpipe as it is designed to do.
once you have programmed the car with access port is it necessary to keep AP plugged in or do people really enjoy watching those gauges that much. Id prefer to tune it and put it away i dont like the way it looks having this thing on your dash
If i get this access port for a ford focus st 2016 and update my ecu can I reset it to factory so i can return to ford and would they be able to tell this was instslled?
+Sachin Ramjan The AP will save whatever file is currently in the car as the "stock" file. So you can reflash with it, the file you currently have will be saved as the stock default.
+Bill Tumas thanks for the response Bill. So once I have my AP, I choose my map and then install. And the current tune will automatically be saved on the unit as a stock map? Your vid says the car needs to be flashed back to stock first
The tuner will work but the none of the preloaded tunes will work with 98 octane. You would need to find a custom tuner that can make a map for the accessport.
When the Accessport is properly uninstalled using the Uninstall option from the main menu, the ECU is reverted exactly back to stock. In our experience, the dealership is not able to tell if the ECU has been flashed. However, with that said, the AP is not designed to go around any kind of warranty coverage and there may be diagnostics at a much higher level we are unaware of. At the end of the day, it really comes down to how your local dealer handles modifications to the car: some don't mind a few mods and others don't like any. Kyle@COBB
warriormonx Cobb offers tunes for other octanes but the USDM tunes included in the AP are only up to 93 octane. Does Australia use the RON octane rating? if they do then 98 RON is the same as US 93 octane
Hi Bill - yes, we use the RON octane rating - so this all now makes sense, cheers! If I were to pick up the Access Port and run it on my stock ST, would you think that I would be seeing the throttle response / HP / torque increases to make the purchase worthwhile? Or would I need to look at other mods?
Great - thanks Bill. Actually found the Cobb AP datasheets with the typical stage 1 93 octane dyno performance gains - matching these with improved response times will be very impressive. Might grab me an AP when I am next in US for work :) One final question - Ford factory warranty; what is Ford's official stance on use of devices such as AP?
local shop is asking for 4hours labor at 100.00 hr to set up cobb access port is that reasonable? This looks rather intuitive but I've never done it before.
Hey if anyone could reply since I'm from Aus and we use 98 fuel which I think is the equiv to 93 in the US i'm just wondering if theres a way you can get maps specifically for 98 fuel
Just out of curiosity.. How do you mount the AP and leave it plugged in?? I can't leave mine plugged in because the door to the OBD2 plug just sits there and hangs open.. which really gets in the way of my leg during resting points.. Do I need to cut a hole in the door or am I missing something?
just wanna say bill I watch a lot of install and videos of this sorts for many makes and cars and gotta say youre the best presenter for this you do the work and do great explaining things. thank you!

@@crosbydraven2858 I trust my wife. Thanks though.
This was the first mod I purchased for my ST, it completely feels like it opens the true potential of this car. I highly recommend this.
@NHawk2112 it only affects your warranty if they can prove that's what caused the issue.
Parts break a particular way when under a tune is how they tell
I could care less aboutbmy warranty..i bought my ST to build it..no way in hell a dealership is working on my car and i work at a dealership in the service dept
Which tune did you put on your ST at first?
Being a technician at a ford dealer I can say that we do have a way of proving whether it was tuned or not. Our scan tool can see mode 9 drive cycle data. If there isn’t a drive cycle completed in the history mode 9 data it means the customer flashed the ecu before bringing it in to us for warranty. Which we would then void
This thing does way more than I thought it did. Nice review!
I like how you can monitor everything. With the issues I have been dealing with that could be very useful.

What is best the access port or the Ford performance calibration?
The ford performance calibration only boosts your torque to like 370 it doesn't affect the horse power
Cobb recommends you don't open the door during install. What if it's already open?
hey bill thanks for the video and here comes my question, i have a focus st 16 and mods are catback exhaust, down pipe, intake and blow off valve, what stage should i go for my car?
Cobbs is so precative compared to other software. There should be a burble option every time you set a tune.
It will destroy the stock cats on a Focus. They do it to stop 16 year old shit heads from destroying their car.
Will the Focus st Cobb Accessport V3 work on a Fiesta St?
So what happens when I tune, With a completely stock st... and is it not recommended to used regular gas?
How do uninstall the accessport back to factory settings.

will this tune increase performance even without any mods installed yet
Yes even the base stage 1 tune add horsepower and torque.

He said "snake it up through the dash." Not sure how though.
I have it for the Fiesta and it doesn't have that cover. See if the cover is removable as I'm sure nobody is gonna miss it when its gone
i was wondering if you could change the boost with this tuner app? if yes, whats the factory psi and how much psi can the engine handle on a daily drive car?
The tunes Cobb provides will turn the boost up a little bit but there is no option in the files to simply turn it up.
How does the Accessport monitor "actual air fuel ratio", is this some sort of calculation based on tps/load/etc or is the front O2 a wideband?!?
was wondering the same thing . could you plz let us know thanks and awesome vid
mad mike bro It uses the cars factory 02 sensor for the Air Fuel reading.
it's calculated by the o2 sensors, just like on any air-fuel display/gauge system.
I have a question regarding the accessport ap3 I just purchased for my focus st. I just recently had a muffler and resonator delete on the car and now it's throwing a "lean" code. Thank you for your time
get an o2 defouler and retune
When do i need to install an Access Port, after Intercooler and exhaust or before, or is it necessary in this BO stage?
The accessport will add power at any level of modification. The more modes you add the more power you can get out of it.
does ap3 fit for all year focus st? i have a 15 focus st and i'm buying a ap3 from a 13 or 14 focus st so i was wondering if it would work
Did it wind up working
Same situation right now

Correct
If i get this access port for a ford focus st 2016 and update my ecu can I reset it to factory so i can return to ford and would they be able to tell this was instslled?
+Mateo Oliveras Ford can see when a vehicle has been reflashed.
do u need to leave the access port in the car or can u install then take it out?
I suggest unplugging it, it drains the battery
I ordered this a month ago and it's still not here -.-
I have a different tune on my car at present. Can I use the AP to flash to stock or do I need to go to the tuber?

can you use the acessport on top of a custom tune?
The Accessport provides a custom tune and the ability to add other tunes.
which tune should i go for? I have 2013 ST and my mods are cobb downpipe, cobb intake and cobb catback exaust.
+Dalton Murray Stage 2 if you still have the stock intercooler.

My 2015 wrx runs on 95 octane and i want to tune what should I do
Get a Ford.
Why is mine saying vehicle not supported its a ford fiesta st 2015
So i have to cut the door off of the access port for this to work?
If you want it plugged it all the time you have to leave the door open, remove it, or remove the plug from behind it.
Hey @cjponyparts you can also use an extension cord
Can I use a 13-14 access port on a 2015 ST
Yes the accessport works on all 13-18 STs
How do you flash your ECU back to stock?
The tuner used to flash it will have an option to return to stock.
@@cjponyparts Thank you for the reply.. What if the the tuner is not available?
How did you change your trip layout to show all four like that?
It's an option when you flip through to set it up
On the car itself or through the programmer?
how much power does the tuner add ?
+Danny G 5hp 80tq. ? a tq. monster.
Is this gonna work in uk we are using 95/97 octane fuel
The US and UK use a different formula for measuring octane. You will have to do the conversion. 95UK is about 90.7 in the US, 98UK is 93.5US etc.
Will this work on australian focus st's? We use 98 octane fuel
The tuner will work but the none of the preloaded tunes will work with 98 octane. You would need to find a custom tuner that can make a map for the accessport.
look into equivalent octane rating between us/europe/etc. you're not using actual 98 octane.
Can I use an accessport on a stock st?
Yes. The Stage1 maps are intended for a stock vehicle. Kyle@COBB
COBB Tuning if you install this on your stock st, and then remove it will it leave finger prints on the ecm for ford to see in a warranty situation?
When the Accessport is properly uninstalled using the Uninstall option from the main menu, the ECU is reverted exactly back to stock.
