    One I'd like to throw in: Zoom Magnum II - 9 inch worm, comes in a 20 pack. Caught so many with these on a Texas rig and a shaky head.

    It just wouldn't be a Buyer's Guide without the Matt Allen Claw Kick Dance. 🙂 Excellent point about the Dinger having a slow sink rate; it's my go-to in super-shallow water for that very reason. The T-mac is a great Trick-style worm. Brush Hog is a classic; I've also had good luck with the Baby Mad Paca by Netbait. It's basically a Brush Hog profile with those Paca claws instead of flat appendages. Thanks so much for another Spring Buyers Guide, gentlemen, and I hope that finger heals fully and quickly, Tim!

    The Chug Bug is an absolutely legendary bait. That bait along with Rebel Pop-Rs (another super affordable bait) have caught me more big smallmouth than I can remember. Amazing for creek fishing.
    Also I would like to reiterate once again that you can replace whatever line-tie is on chatterbaits with Decoy egg snaps (very cheap for Japanese-made stuff, and the exact attachment used on the Jackhammer is a size 2 if you're wondering) to get Jackhammer action. Getting them on is a pain, but worth it to save 8 dollars.

    As a beginner "Serious" angler, I'd love to see a vid where you show how you use everything in this vid. Which bait's go with which hooks, how you fish the different baits, what rods/reels you recommend (remember... budget), etc.

      They put a "budget" option in just about all of their technique or bait -specific videos. Check the description. TB has a huge library of "how-to" videos that explain everything you're asking about. Do a search on the channel and you'll see what I mean. Good luck out there!.

    Been using the Basix since it came out and absolutely love it. Holds a knot great, really good sensitivity, and comes off the spool great even if I hadn't fished in a few weeks. Bigger diameter then most but I feel confident using 15 instead of 17 to 20 and 12 instead of 15.

    Academy’s H2O express brand has really stepped their game up. They used to only make hard baits like jointed swimbaits & crankbaits but now they also make spinnerbaits, soft plastics, line, rods, reels, soft swimbaits & their prices are the cheapest by far. I’ve been a fan of their hard jointed bluegill & shad swimbaits for years but now I prefer their soft swimbaits over the competition such as strike king or keitech.

    I started using Zman when I got into inshore saltwater where almost everything has teeth and other baits would last 1 or 2 bites if I was lucky. Now I use them for everything that I can fresh or salt. They last forever, they don't stiffen up in cold water like plastisol baits, and they float instead of just laying down on the bottom.

    My budget Z-Man tip; buy Bang StickZ!!! These are VERY buoyant, unlike the ZinkerZ. So, you can cut a Bang StickZ in half and get a durable and buoyant Finesse TRD AND a TicklerZ! At full size Bang StickZ are AWESOME too! Thus, with one bag of six Bang StickZ you can fish the Ned Rig, the Neko Rig, the Tokyo Rig, and the Jika Rig!!! Use Bang StickZ with a weighted wacky hook too, DYNAMITE!!!

    For the super budget minded and minimalist guys: I wish you guys would have mentioned that with the 5" Yum Dingers when you tear them up on a texas rig, wacky rig etc, you can cut them down to use on ned rigs, jig trailers, and for casting hairjigs. Saves a ton of space, money, and catches a lot of fish! Almost eliminated my need to buy Zman TRD's.

    Thanks for these videos. …. I’ve limited soft plastics to zman and one other brand. Two packs of a zman whatever plastic lasts an entire year. I used a single gp goat last year. I used it tr, jig trailer, spinnerbait trailer, wobble head and i still have that same goat. …. So I’ll go with zman and then one other brand that I like. For example zman palmetto bugz and then RI sweet beaver. Primarily use another brand if there’s a specific color I want.

  • @LoOutdoors
    @LoOutdoors ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ll echo the ZMan bait lineup. If anyone is on a budget or just tired of spending money on soft plastics, ZMan absolutely knocks ir out of the park when it comes to longevity per bait. Like others say, I’ve had ONE ZMan bait last me 30 or 40 fish before I have to put a new one on. Lots of soft plastics out there with better action, but bang for buck, I haven’t found any soft plastic that matches ZMan durability.

    I pore, paint, tie my own jigs, buzz baits, bladed jigs and spinner baits. The equipment is a bit of an investment but baits end up costing 2-3 dollars each and I don’t have to go to the store when I’m running out. My buddy does worms again they come out to about 10 cents a bait. Lure Parts Online and other lure component companies sell painted blanks, unpainted hard baits and generic plastics so you can save assembling your own baits. You can make your own custom molds with high temperature silicone and create your own baits. You can use better/different size hooks than what comes on stores bought baits. The fish aren’t seeing/hearing what I’m fishing every day since nobody else has what I have. I make a really cool buzz bait that a couple Elite and MLF pro’s have me make them.

    I love watching these buyers guide videos. Which savage gear bluegill size do you like better. The 3" or 4"?

    If possible when you talk rods later in the series, I'd like to hear a few words on what you guys think about baitcast reel gear ratios. I've used nothing but 6:31 : 1 my whole life. In what scenario (bait type / rod type) would you use a higher gear ratio reel, if at all?
