Every Harley should have this accessory for backup.
not a bad idea!
Dude wake up your battery is played!
Nice bro
One thing I've found in the past that can cause something bet similar is bad grounds, usually off of the negative battery came on the frame. Glad you got her running!
Thanks Bob! Still in the garage now, I am putting new chrome hand controllers.
Good bro 😊💯
No, you don't have to remove the primary cover.
UPDATED: I just wanted to add - I think you did a great job making the video, a thumbs up, and nice looking bike you've got there!
Maybe, I am not an expert. I know in newer models you don’t but mine is a 2005.
@@JarheadSixRides My Harley is a 1995. I don't have to remove my primary either so I don't know if or why any year would require removal of the primary. Of course you never know. I'm no expert either. Thanks for your reply.
@Jeff there may be some rebuild kits that involve replacement parts on the jackshaft, but if it's just the starter button and contacts you don't have to touch the primary cover.
Good Sir
I am having some problems with my solenoid and this am sure is a great idea. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Nice bro
I've installed many of those. I always inspect the starter solenoid contacts while I'm in there because though they're cheap to replace they're a high wear item and high resistance deprives your starter motor of power.
Good
Well done Jarhead!!!
Thanks man! God bless!
A slam switch, which is the chrome piece you added to the solenoid is a worthy addition to any Harley. It bypasses a lot of potential starting problems. However, as you found, it is useless if the battery is dead. The click you heard is telling you that the solenoid is working. So the problem with those symptoms is typically a weak/dead battery or a bad connection (+12 0r grnd) at or near the starter motor. Leaving the DVOM on the battery will isolate the problem even further if the voltage goes way down when you push the start button.
my voltage drops really far. Sometimes even to something like 7 volts!
It is NOT the battery. I tripple checked myself, got the battery checked out.
Later i even got a new battery! same thing.
My bike does start but it sounds really weak.
What do you think it could be?
Bad connection on the ground or the solenoid?
Sadly on my bike (heritage softtail classic) the access to the starter is really bad.
got to dissassemble many parts.
That is indicative of a bad starter motor pulling too many amps.@@InFlamesOfSorrow
Nice bro
I hate that, when i am excited to record a video and the bike doesn't work. Only happened a couple of times with my old bike. Great job. Take care, stay well and greetings from South Australia.
Lol I know the feeling! Thanks friend, I appreciate your view!
Good bro 💯
Good working bro 😊
Appreciate that tip. Gonna try charging the battery too.
I did had to replace my battery. Ultimately it was a battery issue
Nice bro 😊
I replaced my starter clutch gear and my jackshaft gear in my primary, but the jackshaft spins, but don't pop out and engage the engine, would one of these help me?
I am not sure man, sorry I am not a mechanic.
That work with injections bike like a softail 1584cc from 2007 ? Thanks for your reply bro !
not sure man, I am not a mechanic. I was just trying to figure out. Got a new battery and the issue stop
You can take emory cloth and smooth and polish the plunger and contacts to help without buying new parts
So Jarhed was thr problem the battery not being charged? Thanks bro
Yeah I had to finally buy a new battery! Thanks for watching!
Whee can we get the Quick Fix?
Nice
Starter on mine is spinning but not engaging, the jackshaft gear doesn't pop out and engage the engine, so you think this would be a good fix for me?
Sorry man, I cant help you. I was just trying something to fix my bike. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can help you!
Yeah that's what this pushbutton does..it pushes your jackshaft out to engage
Nice, good for you.
Thanks so much for watching!
Wonder if this fix will work on my Harley. When I turn it on and press start button on handlebars I get One Click. I keep pressing and getting one click, until all of a sudden she will start just fine. The rest of the day she will be a good girl and start right up!! Next day it's back to the click, i'll keep pressing start until it finally catches and starts. I'm wondering if the push button cover will work? Even if I don't replace contacts and/or plunger??
Probably the problem with your bike is the starter solenoid contacts wear out (has solenoid rebuild kits on market).
@@renatoromano Yes, Thank you!!
Nice bro 💯
Great job bro , 10/23/2023
Nice bro 😊
starter relay is more than likely your REAL problem. $18 part. The 'button' is a nice thing to have though. I've had to use it a coupe of times over the years and it gets you home.
ride safe everybody.
Thanks man, between this and a new battery I have not had that issue anymore, thanks God!
Nice bro 😊
I would say that battery is bad. Take it to a dealer they can test it with their machine.
Cool thanks bro! I appreciate the info.
Good bro 😊
I got one click and then the bike went dark, no power. Tested the battery, it read ok. Jumped it from my truck, started up...
Nice! Gonna see her tomorrow??
lol I wish! I am doing the handlebar controllers now.
Good bro 😊
I believe you have a battery problem not a starter problem
You guys got
thus totally wrong ! After installing the button , IT will NOT fix the start button issue ! It only provides a way to start the bike without getting marooned somewhere . You turn the key on and push the button you installed on the starter! NOT push the start switch ! The button bypasses the start switch and solenoid for direct connection to start !
Good bro 😊
Good bro 😊
the battery was the prob
Good bro 😊
Good bro 😊
Now anybody can steal your bike.
maybe
If you leave the ignition on, yes, but if you turn it off, not a chance
Does this button bypass the ignition switch then?
Good sir 😊
horrible video , all that taking and you don't say anything
