Wow this is spot on for me. Thanks for this! Explains a lot 🙏🏼👍🏻 def guilty of trying to engineer an easier way of doing exposures.

Thanks for this channel and your podscasts Drew. I'm still on medication and with different tools I've learned from you and counselor have been exposing slowly first when I feel with enough energy, I was falling every time I got out of house to a some social exposure or driving. On the beginning the pain for the falls made me think was "no safe" to go out and I notice my advance had been wasted till one day even though my twisted ankle I decided to force myself and it really worked from then... now I'm sort of scared to over trust... I'm driving and going out as it was the most enjoyable that I do and certainly it's sort of weird and not sure how to feel but I'm just adapting to think it's the most enjoyable lol... ?!

I’ve been giving myself tasks when I go to do an exposure like buy an apple juice and sit down and drink it so I don’t just walk in and out of a place. I’ve gone from bed bound can’t leave my room to being able to go to some stores now. My balance is my worse symptom it’s off sometimes , especially when I worry about it.

I love the idea of a task that keeps you from running out. "Hit and run" exposure isn't terribly effective so well done! :-)

I was doing great then I got covid. Have been inside for over a week. Started trying to do again but still don't feel top of it and anxiety is rampant. Probably from being sick. Hopefully ill get back in it fully soon.

I did not know that’s what exposure was 🤔
That’s helpful with small steps to make it possible.

I have an issue, maybe you can help. I drive for exposure therapy, but the issue is driving a little bit extra is hard for me. For example I go through 3 red lights, the next smallest step is to add 3 more on. These 3 extra lights are full blown panic inducing. I can do it sometimes but I feel it would be better if there was some way to take a smaller step. Do you have advice?

An exposure is designed to trigger discomfort. We do exposure to work on the anxiety and panic, not to learn how to not panic. Sometimes that can be a difficult shift to really accept though. The point of the drive is to be anxious, or even panic. That's how we learn that we don't have to prevent the panic.

@@TheAnxiousTruth since I've watched a few of your videos and put it into practice it has already helped a lot. I tried for a year with only a little progress because I tried to fight the anxiety when I got there but when I learned to accept it, it actually helped.
