This map looks way to sick to be made in trackmania. Some people have serious amounts of dedication and its great to see what comes out of it.

Bro, that casual “one album later” and just skipping 30 minutes of wirtual looking for a handful of checkpoints was pro. If I remember correctly we missed a crapload of cam 7 XD
This makes me think of art tracks in Line Rider, but here it's in 3D, interactive, and a maze. A really unique kind of level.
I used to do line rider tracks... Ive spent literally hundreds of hours doing it lol. I made a Simpson themed one that eventually got featured in the track selection, i was so proud :D

Laputa is my favorite movie (not just Ghibli movie, but movie period). I've watched the movie many times, and it's surreal to see so many iconic parts of the castle recreated and connected into a complete track. EDIT: Having completed the video, I'm bummed it didn't end with either the throne room or even better the Ethereum crystal surrounded by tall grass, though the ending was still very solid.

More than just a re-creation of Laputa and a very sick track among the castle, if my memory serves me right (it's been quite a while since I've watched the movie) the route followed the story of the movie quite accurately. It's really impressive to see this, and I guess I'll have to rewatch it th8s weekend.

this map looks very sick but I feel like it could've been a much longer video, sometimes it feels like I just skipped an hour and 30cp in 4mins, even if understand the fact that this is a summary channel I have the impression that we miss a big part of the magnificence of the map, nice video tho
I feel you, would have been nice if there was basically a spliced video showing all the successful checkpoints, instead of us having to watch the 6 hour VOD to see the map.
Agreed. The video even skipped the crystal in a tree room, which was one of the most beautiful locations on the map
The Wirtual VODs channel has the whole 6 hour run but I understand what you mean. It's hard to condense a whole 6 hours into 30 minutes
It's projects like this and the V.R. game that make me wish for a Studio Ghibli exploration game.
The worlds the movies establish are so interesting and wide, you just want to walk around and see everything; so much detail, character and imagination.

I wonder why they made it in TM2 and not TM2020? Did TM2 support larger models/textures? Or did TM2020 not support custom stuff in maps at all yet?
@@MenkoDany tm20 has a custom blocks limit that wouldn't allow such a huge map to exist without using like 10x amount of copypasting (most of the stuff on map is unique in use), and the game is still far from optimized

This is by far my favorite map of all of Trackmania. Just so incredibly beautiful and so full of amazing detail. Also I'm very proud of finishing this map in 8 minutes faster than Wirtual, so that clearly means I'm better than him at Trackmania.

This is by far my favourite Ghibli movie and probably under my top 3 movies of all time. It's incredible to see it in trackmania!
It’s amazing the amount of detail they managed to get into the top castle area, because in the movie, most of the 30% of the interior senes take place in the core of Laputa

I really hope trackmania updates their map creation system soon to allow for more complicated lighting and etcetera
the dedication to make this in a game and then probably have like a fraction of the players even play it.

I watched Castle in the Sky on my old VHS tape. Yes I am that old. Also this is my favorite Animated film of All Time.
This has the same feeling as going out-of-bounds in games from 2003.

I feel like there was more than the usual amount of zelda music this video and that's awesome. The map does look like something out of twilight princess.
Laputa is a great movie and i can only wholeheartedly recommend it to anybody, be it children or adults. An this map looks astonishing.

i only play occasionally so i don't have that much experience, but what i don't understand is this, how do you fit so much track plus accessories into the space the stadium offers?
i get the impression this "house" is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside....
I watched all the ghibli movies subbed to english that were available up to when they released up to Ponyo. Putting aside the person himself (Hayao Miyazaki is a bit of a jerk but his movies were still quite good) I liked all the movies but tbh I feel like Castle in the sky just didn't stick in my brain like the others. Not saying it is any less good btw, just an observation on how my specific brain is weird in relation to it.

Was there a reason this was done in TM2 not TMNF/TM2020? Just curious
maybe he started the project before tm2020 launched?
I'm skyslide's teammate and basically tm2 is the only game where this map is possible. On tmnf you simply can't use custom blocks made in blender so that's that. In TM2020 there are 3 reasons :
- There is no titlepack there, so he could not have embedded all the custom blocks (the map is basically a few huge custom blocks made in blender) and the file size would be like 20MB
- TM2020 is so poorly optimized that this map would run at like not even 10 fps
- Skyslide and all those like me who just stayed on TM2 rpg just don't like TM2020 because of the physics and accel penalty that prevent a lot of tricks and just make driving unsatisfying
