Love some Wet Willie and Jimmy Hall. The term Southern Rock is a bit of a misnomer. As Gregg Allman said, "Rock was born in the South. It's like saying Rock Rock". I hear music like this from the South as a hybrid of Rock, Jazz, Blues, Soul, R&B, sometimes all at once.
I want to also say that you should react to their song Street Corner Serenade that the guy who commented below me. That was their second biggest hit single or the only other Wet Willie song that I knew after Keep On Smilin' where they sing Doo Wop style and sing about the Doo Wop days.
