    I've been doing this for 3 years. I've slept at some amazing places and have yet to pay to sleep. You could have slept at that rest stop right at the end of the golden gate Bridge and woke up with a view of the bridge and the city skyline....I spend the warm months up north and the winter months back down south. I've been to about 3 quarters of the states now have seen many of the national parks, have got to live in cool cities all over the country and see what it's like to live in different places. I love it

      If I were single I would totally do that. Got a wife I love very much so renting it is. I do have a CRV that I dash with when I have nothing better to do than earn money and it would make a comfortable car for a blow up mattress and it's pretty good on gas. For those who think it's a crazy idea do the math. Make 4k a month and live on 1k. Save the other 3 and invest to earn simple interest of between 4 and 5 percent. 36k yearly saved and in 3 years the 100k makes an extra 4500 or so in interest yearly. 6 years you're making 900/month just for waking up in the morning. Want to buy a home 300k cash in less than 10 years? You can do it!

  • @lloydlineske2642
    @lloydlineske2642 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Dude yes! I'm glad it's not just me. I've been living out of my car for about 3 months now. People act like something is wrong, but as you can see it's not bad. And it saves about a grand a month when you think about Rent and utilities and everything involved with having a traditional home. They are overrated at this point. Easiest way to build wealth as a young person is to eliminate 12 to 15,000 dollars worth of expenses a year.
    I know not everyone can do it but those who can probably should.

    I think people ages 18-23 should have a period of doing something like this because it builds semi survival skills and it mimics the early ideas of cross country hitchhiking except your in your own car. Of course there are some conflicts with living in your car for a while and it is voluntary poverty. But honestly getting a 1800 a month apartment or saving for a deadlock morgage is really not that desireable or attainable among young gen z. And people who push the voluntary poverty idea should probably mind their own business and not dictate other peoples life choices especially if they’re not paying for that persons expenses.

    Thinking of doing this. I’ve unwillingly had to sleep out of my car twice in my life but only for a few months at a time. This time I willingly want to do it to clear some debt I’m in. My only concerns are. 1: I have a dog which I refuse to get rid of because she’s my ride or die. But I also feel like that would make things harder for me. And 2: I’m not sure what to do when I need something mailed to me. Like say I need to renew my registration (usually I get in the mail). Or every year doordash will send me my 1099 in the mail. Or my car insurance will ask for my garage address. How do you deal with this?
