I was actually confuses because it looked like motion to me... Atleast when I was looking for it after reading a comment it did. I thought people just had eagle eyes or something
This was one of the most comprehensive reviews I've seen. Unlike IGN who seems to hate Nintendo and ingenuity giving the game a 4 minute review and barely touching on any of the many new features, you hit almost all of them. The only on being the minigame you can play outside the Shoal to listen to your favorite songs or play a fun and really challenging rhythm minigame, I seriously spent 3 hours in the car beating Tidal Rush and it was a blast! I give your review a 10/10. Also ARMS is a Switch exclusive! So hype for the next new character they're gonna drop!
Can we appreciate how the starter gear is aimed so well at noobs. The splatershot jr can ink turf quickly and that is useful when they will probably die every second. Ink armour allpws the team to get a boost in defence which is a tiny help but it works and special saver allows that boost to happen more frequently. And quick respawn is good cos noobs wont be getting many kills but instead dying a lot more oftet. Its so perfect for a noob to have. It makes u a bit less annoyed when u get a noob cos how it is useful for the team cos of ink armour and high ink covering rate
Your grammar and attitude make you sound like an elitist. I'd rather have a "noob" than someone who goes around calling everyone noobs and treating them like deadweight.

As a huge splatoon fan I'm glad you took your time on this review. I can watch gamexplain or ign if I want to have buying information on launch, But you're reviewing style makes it fun to watch even if it takes a while to see. I don't really watch your video reviews to influence any purchasing as you in general like quite different games than me. I'd already bought splatoon 2 in launch so I'm really only watching to hear your opinion and because your hilarious. 26:03 Thank you for the extended address, as an inhabitant of the Sirius B system, I am often confused by whether they mean California of Earth, or California of Planet Zirgophat.
You know Arlo, this is like the best online multiplayer game I've played in existence and it's also a lot more fun than the ones on non-Nintendo gaming systems just like the way the Touhou games (like Fantastic Danmaku Festival) are more fun than the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 first-party games. Heck, I've also seen a family child playing it as her first online multiplayer game ever and I've smiled upon. I sure love to thank the Splatoon dev team like that. I've loved that this game heavily focuses on mastering our actual skills unlike other online multiplayer games (like EA Star Wars Battlefront 2) where you gotta get ahead of other people by paying real world money for microtransactions. Yeah, I remember watching a lot of playthroughs of the Touhou core games involving 1cc, no miss, no bombs and lunatic difficulty completion and that's also my biggest (and weird) inspiration for enjoying Splatoon. Just to clear up that I'm not fangirling the franchise or throwing hate on others. I'm just simply expressing my thoughts and experiences. You know, I've gotten this game but it's not because of the brand itself. 1700th comment!
Yeahh I bloody love this game, and I've suffered playing games like C.O.D in the past. Growing up i was never into that gruesome (look at me I have guns and knives) stuff. Splatoon 2 is perfect 👌
Just saying... The visuals are night and day. Tbh, I didn't really notice in the first reveal trailer... But just go back and watch a Splatoon 1 video, the colors are so monotone, especially compared to Splatoon 2!
This is how any in-depth game review should be like in 2017. I'm really glad you went below the surface & the obvious and made a review that will truly give perspective player holistic idea on what playing the game will be like (even if you went light on ranked mode). When I saw that profile picture I thought "I don't remember commenting on this video" then realized it wasn't me. I never really seen someone use the same profile picture as me before.
Back when this game - and soon after, this video - came out, the latter went on my "watch later" list and sat there for a _long_ time. Some time early this year, I removed it as I'd still yet to buy a Switch, and therefore didn't foresee myself looking into Splatoon 2 anytime soon. Around the end of February though, I finally went out and got myself the coolest console I've ever owned. It has been some time since I obtained my Switch, and I've yet to purchase this game. But today, I was suddenly struck with the inspiration to look into it. I searched TH-cam for a Splatoon 2 review, and after scrolling past a few eight-to-ten minute videos, I stumbled back upon this 25 minute behemoth of a review. Thank you for providing such a comprehensive peek into what this game has to offer. I think I'll be buying it now, and my only fear is that I'll enjoy it too much and become sucked in.
i understand where youre coming from with wanting story in the story mode, but as someone who got all the scrolls in splatoon 1, did you get them? i know its optional and not really main story but it provides some surprisingly deep lore.
Vitamins for Arlos: Now With a Splash of Ink in Every Bottle! Just one bite, and you will feel like Metroid Prime 4 just released! Now in Arlos favorite flavor... MAYO!
As much as I enjoy Salmon Run, I'm not sure if it was available full time I'd play it as much as I am now. In the same way that I only occasionally dip into ranked. And I certainly wouldn't play it a dozen or so times when I played it if it weren't time limited. Like, I get why people are annoyed by it - Video game demands you stick to it's schedule is bad enough when it's in the form of setting aside 3 hours between save points, but when it's a specific mode that's time locked in the most convenient way of playing as hard as Salmon Run is it's positively ridiculous, but at the same time... I probably play the mode more in this situation than I would if it was handled sensibly. Whatever happened to bots in shooters, anyhow? While never as enjoyable as human players, up until... I want to say Halo... they seemed like an industry standard FPS feature for when you wanted a friends only match but weren't able to field a good amount of players for that map. Then somewhere around Halo, boom. No bots. Ever.
D5dizzler Motion controls are way more precise, a fool would stick with stick controls because that's what they are used to, I didn't like the motion either, but I stuck with them, and I got good.

OK! : ) [sneaks up behind you, sprays you with the Sploosh-O-Matic, then uses the rapid and precise direction-changing capabilities of motion controls to quickly spin around and swim off before retaliation can happen]
You and I see Ranked and League modes a bit different. It is disappointing that you can't join friends in Ranked but I feel like this was needed so that friends wouldn't be put against each other when their Rank is on the line. League is a great addition, not only having the superior lobby setup(being able to see/change weapons in the lobby), but the fact that you can play with your friends on the same team WHILE your rank doesn't change. It's all for fun and there isn't any pressure to have to *win* in the game. I see it as a great way to practice for solo Ranked matches since the players in league are often as good or even better than those found in Rank. Everything else in the review was spot on, good on ya Arlo.
That address he gave at 26:01 had me LOLing for about a minute straight! Just that alone made watching the entire video (on a game that, personally, doesn't interest me much) worth it!
hi Arlo! I might have saw you during splatfest in the square. you also had a post saying "Arlo will eat ALL THE MAYO". could have been an imposter though. was that you??
Wait... It was actually him o.o, OMG I SAW ARLO. I had just written it off as a fan and left him with a fresh (despite being ketchup I would fresh a fellow Arlo fan). But I can't believe it actually was him
You shouldn't be able to randomly join a friends rank battle because voice chat would give you a large advantage. Also, league battle is essentially the same thing. You don't have to try to get the top of the league, you can just play casually

[sneaks up behind you, sprays you with the Sploosh-O-Matic, then uses the rapid and precise direction-changing capabilities of motion controls to quickly spin around and swim off before retaliation can happen]
Its nothin' personal kid
Good on you! That's your preference, and you're allowed to use what fits your playstyle better!
Iss cool! I personally love my motion controls.
Me too
You and I see Ranked and League modes a bit different.
Arlo only uses sticks for a portion of the review. Stop getting so worked up about it people.
What I like about Splatoon is that even if you're not very good at the game, you always feel like you've contributed something to your team :-)
Why is everyone making fun of him for stick controls? He's mostly using Motion. :p
Binge watching all your reviews to see what games to buy for Christmas
I know you are taking your time on this game and I appreciate that but....when are we getting the botw review.
Kim Eversole I was about to say you're super late, but I forgot that the first impressions wasn't a review..
Kim Eversole It would just be him nerding out for 30 minutes then giving it an 8/7
Pickled Fricknut Mcgee And that's bad because?
Pickled Fricknut Mcgee that would be AMAZING
That address he gave at 26:01 had me LOLing for about a minute straight! Just that alone made watching the entire video (on a game that, personally, doesn't interest me much) worth it!
hi Arlo! I might have saw you during splatfest in the square. you also had a post saying "Arlo will eat ALL THE MAYO". could have been an imposter though. was that you??
It was him, if you check his Twitter you can see that he made the post.
oh my GUUUUUUAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWSH
King Dededinkleberg I got a screen shot of him. It was him!
I saw that guy too
Wait... It was actually him o.o, OMG I SAW ARLO. I had just written it off as a fan and left him with a fresh (despite being ketchup I would fresh a fellow Arlo fan). But I can't believe it actually was him
I just got a switch with Smash and Splatoon and I’m ADDICTED to Splatoon 2 and I love it so much
You shouldn't be able to randomly join a friends rank battle because voice chat would give you a large advantage. Also, league battle is essentially the same thing. You don't have to try to get the top of the league, you can just play casually
30 minutes of Arlo: THANK YOU.
Too bad I live on the complete other side of the U.S.
Sorry Arlo, can't come to Cali. :(
I will see you again at Sac Gamer's Expo, man! I'm stoked as hell
