ENDING SPOILER WARNING: The biggest wasted potential of this game to me was the final boss lacking a final stage using the super succ. It would've been so satisfying slamming a supersized king boo into the hotel's rubble
@@Blackkey034 I'm just saying that this game was released first. And it might have affected his scoring of Pokémon Sword/Shield because that game has an open world in a very large(-ish) area of the game, that takes up a lot of graphical power. The result of that making Pokémon look barely above a 3DS game. There is also the mouse cursors spotted in the cut scenes, that will never be patched out. Rather than stress the GPU by adding an open world to a game that does not need it, Luigi's Mansion 3 takes care to make a smaller space look perfect! Proving just why that hybrid console was worthy of a port of The Witcher 3, and Breath of The Wild, and a coming port of The Outer Worlds. And if Arlo had reviewed LM3 first, and Pokémon now; Pokémon would have only been a 3 out of 7 instead of a 5 out of 7. Mostly because of last month's upsetting reveal of the subscription price for Pokémon Home. A service, yes, a games as a live service, that cannot even implement all of it's features on the Switch. It requires a smartphone to use all those features. Some of those features used to be in the base games in previous generations. The Switch can play The Witcher 3 anywhere you take it. It can make Luigi's Mansion 3 look like a PS4 game, while in your hands on a bus! The Switch will play The Outer Worlds in the future. So why is online play for Gen 8 worse than gen 7 was on the 3DS?
Luigi has been my favourite Nintendo character since I was a child and I remember how delighted I was when I realized they made a game on the Gamecube where he is the main character, the first Luigi's Mansion, which was a great game. I never played the second one, but this third entry is now one of my favourite Nintendo games ever, the charm, the animations, the characters design, some character ghosts are just purely amazing, and like you I had a child like pleasure more than a few times playing this game, so I believe that it deserves the 7 out of 7 despite its flaws!
My big problem with this game is that there isn’t any post game content, I don’t like endings where they use the excuse that “they didn’t save after the final boss!” However I adore Luigi, and I adore this game. I hope I play it again one day.
i think luigi's mansion has a very good future cuz next level said at E3 2019 i think it was that they were looking at like forums and reviews and stuff so if they also do that for responses to 3 i think the next one if it ever happens could somehow manage to top 3 in conclusion next level seems to care about the series a lot and i love it just felt like sharing
I started playing dark moon on my 3ds and then I played the first one on my cousins GameCube, and I really loved the series so far and I’ve gotta say Luigis mansion 3 joins my top 10 switch games list (Note: it’s number 3!!!!) 🤩🤩🤩
After playing this since launch, it immediately became one of my favorites. But playing further, I was excited to claim this as my favorite game of all time!
This review on Luigi's Mansion 3: Gloom Service is INCREDIBLY late, considering that *_it's M a r c h_* I'm sure this review has a lot of *spirit* put into it though
I'm surprised you didn't discuss the achievement system. I thought it helped to paint goals to accomplish, even if most are easily acquired just by completing the game
My only real issue with the game is the slam. It's fun, but the difficulty didn't seem tailored around this. There are probably 2 instances in which the combat actually felt really good. And that was an optional fight when revisiting the pirate ship, and the piano stage. That was it. Everything else is mostly amazing, top tier. But the combat is actually a step back from Darkmoon. And this carries on to the online aspect of the game. Game needed a hard mode / second mansion. I also felt a lot of the later floors started to feel a bit rushed and lacking. Like the gym...dance floor eh, kinda lame.
I think it was a waste of potential on their part. Like, you can't go wrong with a dance floor, but at the same time, that floor was just used for a boss, and there wasn't any puzzle leading up the boss. All the floors accomplish what they're meant to be, but the later floors just kinda fill their role for the sake of being a floor.
I’m half way through the game and I feel like this game is more about puzzles then fighting ghosts. It seems like there were more to fight in dark moon
Funny fact: Everyone say that Mario is better than Luigi but -Luigi can jump higher whitch is literally the only thing that Mario do -Luigi have the best looking since the first Luigi 's Mansion and probably is the most believable and alive character of Nintendo. He has expression, felling and that's something Mario never had and most importantly...HE HAS A GHOST PUPPY. Best character ever
I loved that scene toward the end where Mario goes all Jumpman and Luigi's too scared, and we realize why he can't jump in these games. a guy with slippery shoes already has to be more careful, but here? one wrong jump and you're down a pit. he is keeping his feet planted on the floor firmly.
Thanks for this review Arlo, loved the solid 30 minute video to listen to your fun wording and fluid editing while I finished up a looooong English essay!
This is one of your best reviews Arlo. You really celebrate the details, strengths, and charms that make this game so enjoyable while also recognizing its flaws. Your respect and appreciation for the game is reflected in the quality here. Bravo!
I was waiting for this! I agree with a lot of what you've said, and was super excited when this game won best family game of 2019! Hopefully the smashing success of this game will lead to the Luigi's Mansion series getting more attention in the future.
While playing this game, I kinda got the idea that Luigi would avoid collecting money and gems in favor of saving his friends and brother, while Gooigi was more focused on money and gems at E. Gadd's personal request, based off his encouraging the player to collect the money. Just imagine: Luigi and Gooigi enter a room. Luigi starts to think about how to approach a situation when he hears the sound of furniture being rattled. Startled, he turns to see Gooigi searching a drawer or something and pulls out a stack of bills. Luigi asks why Gooigi continues to hunt for money. Gooigi pulls out a gem, calling out "I do it" (as he seems mostly mute). Luigi just shrugs it of as he continues to think and as Gooigi continues to search the room for more loot.
Just gotta say. Ive just started watching your channel not to long ago. When you did your big fat review of BOTW. And Im hooked. I love your voice. I love your video style. I love how you review the games and are critical yet fair. Please. Keep making content.
The original Luigis mansion helped me through a very depressing time in my life dude.. I found myself tear eyed for no fucking reason sometimes.. shit.. many times throughout this game.. lol.. like literally no reason.. I think it was nostalgia.. or just that I was so happy and impressed on how good the game was.. idk.. it was weird lol
this is a very old comment but i feel you man. sometimes i’m listening to music from pokémon bw or mario galaxy and i can’t help but just tear up at random points
No, friend. If a game helps you ease off the pressure of reality, it did it's job. We are more than our problems, and art and recreative things are part of the process of dealing with it. That was how it was for me when I played Oot, MM, and TW for the first time.
Amazing review! You touched on every single thing, every plus the game has and every negative, exept, in my opinion, the lack of a more creepy atmosphere and ghosts like in the first game. But I agree on everything you've said.
You get a lot of heat for criticism, but I just want you to know how grateful I am you take your time to fully adapt an opinion rather then express the excitement of playing the game. I share so many of the same opinions you do, and its nice to see a Nintendo Video on TH-cam that doesn't tell me the same thing over and over.
I love that you refuse to do a full review on a game until you have taken your time to understand and fully play the game! This is why you do such an amazing job fully comprehending the game! This is the final push, I'm going to get it!
Am i the only one who wants a Luigi's odyssey? Luigi's ODDyssey... Man i need to work for nintendo. AWESOME REVIEW as always Arlo your objective criticism is always refreshing; Giving leeway to common sense makes your reviews better than most biased creators.
As a speedrunner of the first Luigis mansion (or at least I used to be) I found this video incredible! It seems that our opinions for the series are near identical. Keep up the great work!
I finished Luigi's Mansion 3 about two weeks ago. A very fun game. I loved the variety of levels (except for that damn water one) and thought it was a good challenge, not too easy or too hard. The animation is beautiful.
I agree with everything! Although I personally found it very disappointing how the game turned very linear about halfway through it, every floor just felt like a separate level and well, I would've preferred if it was more cohesive. Also you forgot to mention that the game has achievements and some of them are related to ScareScraper so yeah. Props to Next Level Games for putting out such high quality game out. Maybe a couple other Nintendo studios could learn a thing or two.
When I heard about it in July 2019 I was so excited that night I couldn’t hardly sleep and I literally counted down the days until it came out. As soon as I got it I started playing I honestly think this is the best Luigi’s Mansion also I think this is the best game on the Nintendo switch
I'm surprised how few people have complained about the padding in the game with the cat making you backtrack to floors and rooms you already beat. This could've happened once or twice and been fine but the 3 or 4 times it did felt unnecessary. It and trying to aim with the plunger/objects/toads was more work than it needed to be, especially when trying to aim timed bombs into king boo's mouth for instance. Overall a near perfect game that I'll probably revisit in a few years.
Yes, but keep in mind that a perfect score doesn't mean the game itself is perfect (no game is); It just means that he liked the game better than the games he has given a 6 out of 7 to. This kind of distiction is really important.
ScareScraper was the part I played the most in Dark Moon, I never got past the third mansion but anytime a couple of friends and I were hanging out we'd utilize the power of download play and just DESTROY some ghosts. It was a ton of fun.
I had never played a Luigi's Mansion game before this one. All I heard from the franchise was that it was really great. This game did not let me down when I played it. Personally I somehow found it challenging to get an A rank at first but thats because I blasted through the game. This will forever be one of my favorite games of all time
Nostalgia for the first game aside, this is easily the best Luigi's Mansion. It's the perfect blend of the first game's atmosphere and focus on exploration, and the second game's variety and personality, with some fantastic attention to detail and innovations of its own.
This is such an excellent game that I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did. The music and art style are some of Nintendo’s best, the puzzles and bosses are genuinely mind blowing and made me wish for more, The ScareScraper mode and overall gameplay are just fantastic!
This is one of the first games in years that when I got it played it through completely before pausing for a bit. It's my all time top favorite switch game. AND think it looks the best
It took me a year to finally get and play the game and wow... I am amazed. I couldn’t stop smiling the entire time and laughed non stop. It truly my breath away. I waited this long to watch your review but it was worth it.
I know you work your tail off to get these reviews done it’s a lot of work the way you describe the way you manifest everything the thoughts the picturistic view.... it’s breathtaking.... and that’s what is so phenomenal about your reviews it is what makes you best I couldn’t wait for you to do these again .. return to doing this again it’s what brings a lot of us to your channel like I said before so keep up the good work and when this drought is over meaning Nintendo direct you’re going to be so busy then you complain that you’re too busy LOL nicely done
I completely thought you did a review of this sooner, I didn't think it'd take you THIS long to actually make one and share it to all of us, but anyways, great job, you did an excellent review on this game and I'm looking forward to what you'll be reviewing in the near future.
I bought this game when it came out and i wasn’t even able to finish it because i found it to be really boring nevertheless I decided to give it a second chance a few days ago and I finished it in like 2 or 4 days, now i can safely say that my mind changed completely. Although not perfect it surely is a really fun and well designed game. I wish Nintendo keeps carrying this series further and improving it with each new entry
Oh my god. You literally gave my review of LM3. especially the last part where you questioned yourself giving it a perfect score but did it anyway. I find with LM3 that it is far and away my favorite game of all time. Is it the best game ever made? No. Is it a perfect game? far from it, but it is just such a good game that I can't help myself but love it. I know it's worse than I give it credit for, but I can't help myself. As for one thing though, the online. I have played a fair bit of online (I have gold poltergust and almost all the rare ghosts (only missing DLC 3 stuff)) and I can say I have experienced stuttering and disconnects... but it's extremely rare. Usually, the only time I ever have trouble with it is when my or another player's internet is doing _really_ badly. I've played for 3, 4, 5, 6 hours straight and experienced 0 issues.
I love this series, but if you step back and think about it, it’s kinda insane that it got more than one game at ALL. It’s such a weird idea that is quite possibly the description of a one-hit wonder, a one time spinoff, a beautiful game that really should only have happened once. But it didn’t. And I love that.
i played luigis mansion 1 when i was like 4 (15 years ago) and i absolutely loved it. even now with the release of luigis mansion 3, i love the series to death. god i love luigi

The biggest wasted potential of this game to me was the final boss lacking a final stage using the super succ. It would've been so satisfying slamming a supersized king boo into the hotel's rubble
especially since that fight was brutally and unpleasantly hard.
I was waiting for this one. Clicked as fast as i could.
Delta lord How long did you wait ????
27:36 Luigi inserts a 7 button into the elevator panel while Arlo gives the game a 7
*_He knew what he was doing_*
Can you please wear a long dress
Teheheeee
Arlo: I am going to review Luigi's Mansion 3.
*Five months later*
Arlo: Didn't take that long, right guys?
Brett Wallace i mean he does so many "non reviews" but i think he HAS reviewd it.
I think, if he had done this review first, Pokémon Sword and Shield would have been thrown to the Lycanrocs
Daniel Graham how long does he need?
Arlo: posts Luigi's Mansion 3 review
Me: 'Bout time, boy.
Port Kid Icarus Uprising to the Switch you cowards
(fr though LM3 was great)
No they'd have to make a new one to make it compatible/Switch quality. Like have Sakurai come back to the series and make another game.
@@vr8652 Then do it kappa
Yes yes all the yes
Not every game in existence needs to be on the Switch
@@mamaluigi429 lol what? 😂
This is how I thought luigi's mansion 1 looked back when I played it as a kid.
I hope I play it again one day.
have u replayed it yet?
i think luigi's mansion has a very good future cuz next level said at E3 2019 i think it was that they were looking at like forums and reviews and stuff so if they also do that for responses to 3 i think the next one if it ever happens could somehow manage to top 3
in conclusion next level seems to care about the series a lot and i love it just felt like sharing
I love the charm allowed by the game’s awesome art style. It gives everyone so much personality and made them seem so real :)
I started playing dark moon on my 3ds and then I played the first one on my cousins GameCube, and I really loved the series so far and I’ve gotta say Luigis mansion 3 joins my top 10 switch games list (Note: it’s number 3!!!!) 🤩🤩🤩
Jesus Fuerte it’s my 3rd too 😍
Super Mario odyssey is #1 and Smash bros ultimate is #2 ( I REALLY suck at Breath of the wild XDDD)
After playing this since launch, it immediately became one of my favorites. But playing further, I was excited to claim this as my favorite game of all time!
This review on Luigi's Mansion 3: Gloom Service is INCREDIBLY late, considering that *_it's M a r c h_*
I'm sure this review has a lot of *spirit* put into it though
You again.
It’s you again, huh
This comment just made me genuinely annoyed that the game isn't subtitled "Gloom Service." that's perfect.
Christopher Moon i see you everywhere’s and you always have something funny to say
Huh, it’s Justin Y. 2
I'm surprised you didn't discuss the achievement system. I thought it helped to paint goals to accomplish, even if most are easily acquired just by completing the game
Me: I sure am bored here with this self isolation
God:
At least no Goombas were hurt during the making of this game, so that's a plus.
I’m half way through the game and I feel like this game is more about puzzles then fighting ghosts. It seems like there were more to fight in dark moon
@@leohaddad9225 I agree, there aren't many fun ghosts that aren't bosses. It is more puzzle focused than I thought, but the puzzles are pretty great!
Funny fact: Everyone say that Mario is better than Luigi but
-Luigi can jump higher whitch is literally the only thing that Mario do
-Luigi have the best looking since the first Luigi 's Mansion and probably is the most believable and alive character of Nintendo. He has expression, felling and that's something Mario never had and most importantly...HE HAS A GHOST PUPPY. Best character ever
I see no problem here!
Bravo!
This is really great timing because I literally just finished my playthrough of this yesterday!!
Perfect timing just started my playthrough yesterday!
5:13 I never knew until now that you are able to jump in Dark Moon
That's pretty clever!
I love the idea of Gooigi scavenging through drawers and pocketing cash without an ounce of emotion on his face. XD
Just gotta say. Ive just started watching your channel not to long ago. When you did your big fat review of BOTW. And Im hooked. I love your voice. I love your video style. I love how you review the games and are critical yet fair. Please. Keep making content.
I love the sound effects in the game. Especially the sound when you spit out the elevator buttons after a boss. So satisfying, for some reason.
I thought they were decent, but I thought the first game's sound design was more memorable and stood out to me more.
@Fart Party Plus Hated it, hated it, HATED IT! Who decided that THAT was a good idea?
The original Luigis mansion helped me through a very depressing time in my life dude.. I found myself tear eyed for no fucking reason sometimes.. shit.. many times throughout this game.. lol.. like literally no reason.. I think it was nostalgia.. or just that I was so happy and impressed on how good the game was.. idk.. it was weird lol
this is a very old comment but i feel you man. sometimes i’m listening to music from pokémon bw or mario galaxy and i can’t help but just tear up at random points
me and acgc tbqh
No, friend. If a game helps you ease off the pressure of reality, it did it's job. We are more than our problems, and art and recreative things are part of the process of dealing with it.
That was how it was for me when I played Oot, MM, and TW for the first time.
Huh I honestly thought you already reviewed this and thought when it popped up was from months ago. Surprised it took you so long.
Amazing review! You touched on every single thing, every plus the game has and every negative, exept, in my opinion, the lack of a more creepy atmosphere and ghosts like in the first game. But I agree on everything you've said.
I've been waiting for this video for so long. im glad it came out well. Also Luigi's mansion 3 is my favorite game on the switch
Man, I love this game so much!
Personally, one of my favorites of 2019!
Luigis mansion 3 is far and away one of the best games on the switch and was my 2019 game of the year.
Ah yes, Luigi's Mansion. The best MARCH release
@Simon4Belmont uh, idk if you are joking or not
Simon4Belmont r/wooooosh
Well he couldn't exactly review ACNH before it came out, also he waits a while before reviewing
Love this game, has to be in my top 5 Switch titles.
coming back to say this game is still such a delightful halloween tradition for me. waterworks can d*e tho
I finished Luigi's Mansion 3 about two weeks ago. A very fun game. I loved the variety of levels (except for that damn water one) and thought it was a good challenge, not too easy or too hard. The animation is beautiful.
Ty for making it newcomer friendly I just picked it up I had the original game day 1 on the gamecube. I'm pretty excited
I also loved how freaking FAST you can slam the ghosts made me just out laughing every time!
When I heard about it in July 2019 I was so excited that night I couldn’t hardly sleep and I literally counted down the days until it came out. As soon as I got it I started playing I honestly think this is the best Luigi’s Mansion also I think this is the best game on the Nintendo switch
The opening’s graphics are BEAUTIFUL! They look so great
"Smashing stuff just feels terrific."

@7v_5 Productions OK that's taking it too far
I'm surprised how few people have complained about the padding in the game with the cat making you backtrack to floors and rooms you already beat. This could've happened once or twice and been fine but the 3 or 4 times it did felt unnecessary. It and trying to aim with the plunger/objects/toads was more work than it needed to be, especially when trying to aim timed bombs into king boo's mouth for instance. Overall a near perfect game that I'll probably revisit in a few years.
Arlo: this game is not perfect.
Proceeds to give it a perfect score.
Yes, but keep in mind that a perfect score doesn't mean the game itself is perfect (no game is); It just means that he liked the game better than the games he has given a 6 out of 7 to. This kind of distiction is really important.
I’m still recovering from how absolutely fantastic Luigi’s Mansion 3 looks
It just makes me smile every time I look at it
ScareScraper was the part I played the most in Dark Moon, I never got past the third mansion but anytime a couple of friends and I were hanging out we'd utilize the power of download play and just DESTROY some ghosts. It was a ton of fun.
I had never played a Luigi's Mansion game before this one. All I heard from the franchise was that it was really great. This game did not let me down when I played it. Personally I somehow found it challenging to get an A rank at first but thats because I blasted through the game. This will forever be one of my favorite games of all time
This is my first Luigi’s Mansion and I LOVED IT
Nostalgia for the first game aside, this is easily the best Luigi's Mansion.
It's the perfect blend of the first game's atmosphere and focus on exploration, and the second game's variety and personality, with some fantastic attention to detail and innovations of its own.
I personally didnt quite feel the first game's atmosphere, maybe it was a bit too cartoony

This was my favorite game of 2019. Highly recommended 😁👍🏼.
Same.
I liked Mario maker two more but this was still a decent game
@@Tman-gt7fk you liked mario maker 2 more? Thats like saying you like the appetizer more than a full course meal lol
Frigate6054 it’s just my opinion I still really enjoyed luigis mansion three probably 2nd to Mario market 2
It never ceases to make me laugh how absolutely drunk Toad drives in the opening sequence
"It's a good joke" -Arlo
I know you work your tail off to get these reviews done it’s a lot of work the way you describe the way you manifest everything the thoughts the picturistic view.... it’s breathtaking.... and that’s what is so phenomenal about your reviews it is what makes you best I couldn’t wait for you to do these again .. return to doing this again it’s what brings a lot of us to your channel like I said before so keep up the good work and when this drought is over meaning Nintendo direct you’re going to be so busy then you complain that you’re too busy LOL nicely done
Best Switch game of 2019. Fight me.
i will not fight because you're actually right !
Fire Emblem Three Houses
Better late than never, and it was *_still_* worth the wait!
Great job as always, you *_beautiful_* monster, you!
I only play Luigi’s mansion 3 so I don’t know a lot about the first Luigi’s mansion and dark moon so yes I still liked this
Thank you for not spoiling too much. I really want to play this eventually but have been working through my backlog still.
"I've been waiting for this game for twenty years."
*me, remembering when the first one came out*
Arlo why u hurt me this way. ;^;/
I completely thought you did a review of this sooner, I didn't think it'd take you THIS long to actually make one and share it to all of us, but anyways, great job, you did an excellent review on this game and I'm looking forward to what you'll be reviewing in the near future.
This is a great looking switch game and game in general.
I'm unwell and in a load of pain right now (not COVID-19 related, thank God!), a good half hour of Arlo is exactly what I need :)
We will never know how the ghosts became so rich!
Arlo is the only guy that would post a Luigi's Mansion 3 review in March..... but none the less, it was a very good video and a very in depth review!
And I love that.
respectfully disagree, mario style ghostbusters is a hype idea
i played luigis mansion 1 when i was like 4 (15 years ago) and i absolutely loved it. even now with the release of luigis mansion 3, i love the series to death. god i love luigi
now THIS is a game with high quality animations and love put into it.
Unlike that one mediocre cash grab....
*COUGH COUGH* Pokémon *COUGH COUGH*
Luigi’s Sidekick I’m broke so I can’t return Pokémon cuz it’s opened so it’s all I’m really playing cuz i have like 200h in all the others
Pokémon’s animations and graphics look like they could be on the wii
Tbh I’d rather play Pokémon than Luigi’s mansion cuz I’ve never rlly liked the latter
@@ja44444 That's an insult to the really well-made Pokemon Wii titles though.
I've been waiting for you to do a video on LM3
