In 1986, I was visiting the UK with my girlfriend (Claire). We walked by a dealership in Folkestone that had a 928 on display through the glass.
I went in like a excited little kid (19) and sat in it. I loved that car. I still have a photo of that experience. 🇨🇦

Nick, great buy on the 928S! I bought a 1984 928S March 30 after sitting for 16 years on blocks and under cover. I have been detailing it the last 3 months and just got the a/c charged and now ready for road trips! Always wanted one and pulled the trigger. I walk past my Huracan and Corvette to get to the 928 on Saturday morning Lotto and paper runs! Great buy! See ny TH-cam series restoring mine.

    A 928 !
My branch manager drove a 928 back in late 80’s when I was a stockbroker in Sacramento
    .
Back then it was quite the car, front V8 non air cooled Porsche ! Who ever expected that ?
I knew another guy back then that had a 911 but traded it in for a 928 because he thought he was settled down now & a 911 made the impression with clients that he was too sporty .
Reminds me of the period in my life Nick when life was carefree and seems like it was just yesterday.
Thanks for the memories Nick, reminds me of the song “When I Was Young”

I had an almost exact sister to that! Amazing! A 1983 one. Just a few differences : yours has the super air conditioning in the back, the nice looking speakers instead of the uglier grille mine had, and your interior is slightly more orangey; also, mine had the 1 inch smaller phone dial rims. Well, obviously the plate carrier bumpers that we didn't have here in Europe. That's one of the best specced cars around! Manual, dark green, open roof. Hold on to it, if you have the chance; you will always be envied. I had to sell mine for various reasons, but I miss it, sometimes.

Oh, Nick. You've bought the most beautiful car ever made. That's what I thought back in 1986 and I'm quite possibly still right. I was, and continue to be, obsessed with the 1983-1986 Porsche 928 S. I lusted after that car. I can't believe you found one with a manual transmission-they're so rare. My favorite color interior from that time is the color leather you have (which was a special order-I can't remember the name though I want to say it might be "Champagne") or the light beige along with Prussian Blue paint (which was also a special order). I remember that a local dealer would take the wheels you have, chrome them-yes CHROME them, and paint the crests in the center-WOW! At the time, the car was in high demand here in Silicon Valley, so the dealer slapped on a second sticker in the window that read, "Additional Dealer Markup: $5,000", At the time, the cars were going for around $50,000 before the dealer's price gouging, Thank you for rescuing that pretty lady and getting her dolled up. Please make sure she goes to a good and appreciative home when it comes time to say goodbye. You're living my dream-have lots of fun!

Nice! I bought a 1986.5 2 years ago...2 owner, similar mileage...lots of deferred maintenance. I’ve just sorted out now. That head unit may be “ugly” but it’s one of the better single din units out there. It works with waze, had audio application for tuning the stereo, Bluetooth, etc...and the clamp holds your phone...you can pop the faceplate off and tuck it away...substance over style. Mine will probably be sold at auction when I die.
Get Roger at 928Rus on speed dial. Join the forums on rennlist (all the answers are there friend!!!) and Facebook. They are great cars. Good luck with your ownership experience.

If Nick ever needs to take the chicken out of the oven, take that to him mom (because she won't have eaten), run outside, hop in his 928, drive to Sheffield, arrive there while the chicken is still warm and his dad is still alive, he will succeed. Because he will have been driving a car that can sit quite happily at 170mph. So as far as I'm concerned, the 928, is alright.

The first time I saw a 928 was in a movie called middle-aged crazies and thought it was the coolest looking car and wanted to get one when I could afford one. You will have to do a comparison between the 911 of the period. And this car to let us know which one is the better car.

My Dad bought a 928s in 1984, and 155mph and 310hp was considered truely bonkers...as 14 year old I was forced to do a stack road trips in the back and I can confirm it had approximately 1.5” for leg room more than his 911SC...but the luxury was the sunvisor for the back of my neck 🤣🤣

Lucky you! You're driving my dream car. I love the unique paint and interior leather color. Please take good care of it. I hope to be able to buy one some day. Thanks.

Very cool Nick! Congrats! The 928 market seems crazier than ever if you bought it right. Love the color combo and this ride will have me start watching your channel again. Tired of newer cars!

You done good, Nick, and Tui and Smudge agree. One of my favorite cars and the best GT of its era. Finally getting the respect it deserves; however, your buying one could end that...

Didn't see that one coming! Really nice! An early 928 is on my own to do list! Pre facelift rear lights are much nicer. Look forward to seeing this little project develop. Congrats, Cowan

"Who's the U-boat commender?" (Risky Business).
Great car, I had one for many years. Wish Porsche would make a 928 successor (Panamera Coupe)!

I had a silver manual 928 and loved it, still miss it to this day. Sylvester 'Stallone got it as partial payment for a movie deal, my sister who is a producer bought it off of him and I off of her. Stallone had it modified to European standards with things like built in radar in the front and rear and a few other modifications to the engine.
It was used in a few TJ Hooker tv series shows, it was the sound for the 928 in "Risky Business" and can be seen in the driveway in a party scene in a movie called "'Some Kind of Wonderful". I finally sold it to Columbia Studios for a Bill Cosby movie called "Lenard Part 6" where they painted it camo and mounted a tank gun on top.
Still the best driving car I ever had, I even had an ETAK navigational system put in which was how we did it long before GPS, lol.

I used to have an '86.5 928S. You have one in a dogleg manual transmission- that is the one to get!
